I feel like he is to me what Michael Ray is to you, extremely easy on the eyes but meh musically lol. I feel like judging Parker on just "Pretty Heart" and "Like A Cowboy" isn't gonna do him much. I love both songs but it took a while for "Pretty Heart" to grow on me and I liked "Like A Cowboy" a lot quicker but I didn't like it immediately. "Hell of a Year" is my favorite song from him. I just gave that one a chance, and I actually think I like "Like a Cowboy" and even "Pretty Heart" better than that lol. It was just super boring to me, and I don't really care for his tone. I guess I'll just have to settle for admiring his beauty and not his artistry, lol.

LOVE ago see Ingrid at #1! She deserves it and hopefully she ends up at #1 on many more lists in the future years...
Ashley is great as well!
Looking forward to the next one, I feel like there hasn’t been as much in the past couple weeks but maybe I’ll hear some new stuff which is always cool!

While I found Ingrid’s album to be a bit disappointing overall, “The Stranger” is certainly one of the best songs on it and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it performs on country radio. It’s a great song and has lots of support from Pulse so I’m not disappointed in seeing it win here at all. That said, Ashley’s “Sparrow” is a song that hit me in the gut the first time I heard it and every time I hear it I get that same feeling all over again. This really feels like one of those songs that go on to become a signature hit for an artist and assuming they release this as a single I think it’ll do just that for her. No rush though because I want to see “One Night Standards” go on to become the hit it deserves. Thanks for hosting this, bboat11, and I’m looking forward to continuing on with this for May!

I haven't listened to Ingrid's album, but The Stranger was so good- reminded me of something Christina Perri would've released to Hot AC ten years ago. I definitely underranked Hard To Say I'm Sorry. If only I had heard it before finally listening to "If I Can't Have You", I appreciate it so much more now.

Dolly 1969 - Such a weird song, even in that album, so surprised it is higher than WWDD, but as the album title suggests, it is a mood. Like A Cowboy - Damn y'all falling for thirst traps...that song is boring af because his vocals sound very uninteresting to me (just like Riley Green). Randy Montana version is much better, but I would still wait for Chris Stapleton's version if it exists. Gabrielle - A better song influenced by Golden Hour. I hope his album has more songs like this. (Good Day ain't it though.) More Than My Hometown - And I still don't like his vovals or whatsoever. His vocals like FGL always sound heavily processed, and then there is very weird flow in the bridge. Hard To Say I'm Sorry - Would rather choose that Hank Williams cover or Patsy Cline cover. The September outro is so weird. Why did she decide to do that? Champagne Night - Still didn't hear similarity to Rich but like most of Songland songs it is indistinguishable I Found Another You - The lyrics at the end (she hates me too/Not quite as much as you/Ain't been around me long as you) is icing on the cake. The piano in the second verse is good vibes. I say 90's country style is best performed by 90's artists! I Don't Need To Know - This song falls on repetitive side for me but their harmony is still good. Dang Dallas - The production is quite similar to The Stranger, but the lyrics are slighly less interesting. Sparrow - A contemporary country song that has actually interesting topics? Sign me in! And her vocal is so strong that even though this song is slightly overproduced, her voice just goes through. The Stranger - I actually like this more than More Hearts Than Mine from a melodical standpoint. Good AC influenced country pop song. Let's see your picks from May releases bboat11

Sorry for keeping y'all waiting on this! I meant to post it on the 1st, but I moved my sister back to college in Spokane for her summer job last weekend. I have stayed several extra days because I am planning to move back to Spokane myself as soon as the pandemic possibly allows. So I have been trying to find a house or apartment or job or something. The downside is that I have literally zero wifi anywhere I go My old pal Starbucks is failing me with this carryout-only stuff!!!
But I found a different coffee shop with outdoor seating today, so I am getting caught up on stuff and sitting out in the sunshine. It's legit.
Anyway, here ya go! I cut it down to 20 songs this time, to somewhat mollify the complainers until they find something else to complain about!
Edit: Never mind, the you-left-this-out complainers ended up being louder!!!! May 2020:
The Playlist: (Runtime 1:34:23) 1. 6th Avenue Heartache - Sara Evans 2. All Night - Brothers Osborne 3. Almost Maybes - Jordan Davis 4. Easy Goin' - Clay Walker 5. Every Other Memory - Ryan Hurd 6. Julianna Calm Down - Dixie Chicks 12. Lady - Brett Young 13. Light Changes Everything - Carolyn Dawn Johnson 14. Never Have I Ever - Danielle Bradbery 15. Only Children - Jason Isbell 16. The Optimist - Kelleigh Bannen 17. Poet's Prayer - Sunny Sweeney 18. Rodeo Clown - Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen 19. Rolling Stone - Lainey Wilson 20. Six Feet Apart - Luke Combs 21. Small Town Hypocrite - Caylee Hammack 22. Trash My Heart - Walker Hayes 23. When Life Is Good Again - Dolly Parton 24. When You're My Age - Lori McKenna ft. Hillary Lindsey & Liz Rose 25. 3 songs are new discovery for me. One ends up high, one in the middle and the unfortunate one in the dead last in my list.

Considering an artist like Jason Isbell had one of the highest debuts of the genre last month I think it would’ve been appropriate to represent him here, but I get that he’s considered more Americana/Country Rock and is well outside of the spectrum of what the majority of Pulse listens to. Still, something like “Only Children” would’ve been a great addition to the list.

Yeah, I was considering including new songs from Jason, Kenny Chesney, and Kip Moore, since they all had new albums, but they were among the artists who ended up getting cut in the interest of space, since Pulse isn't exactly in love with any of them :/ Still trying to figure out how to make everyone happy... Lol

Lol I get that and understand that even five more songs might make some want to overlook this rankdown. I for one would’ve very much appreciated the addition of Jason Isbell as well as Kip Moore considering I think he has one of the best new albums out there right now.

"Trash My Heart'" is an actual radio release and also was not included last month when I see a bunch of random album tracks here, just saying. I know it would get last place but #JusticeforTrashMyHeart

The only reason I mention Kip Moore's "Fire and Flame" is because it would probably be my #1 if it had been included. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs he has ever released and I am really hoping it becomes a single. I get it though that keeping this list small is important but I just gotta show support for Kip Moore cause not enough people do!

Alright, if I was to add 5 more songs, here is what I am thinking. Of course it would have to be okay with those who have already submitted lists... Any thoughts?
Walker Hayes - "Trash My Heart" Jason Isbell - "Only Children" Kip Moore - "Fire And Flame" Kenny Chesney - "Everyone She Knows" Florida Georgia Line - "Second Guessing"

Due to me leaving off songs from releases that I thought nobody would miss in an attempt to please those who thought there were too many songs last month, I have angered those who actually did end up missing those songs Therefore, by popular request, I am adding 5 more songs:
Walker Hayes - "Trash My Heart" Jason Isbell - "Only Children" Kip Moore - "Fire And Flame" Kenny Chesney - "Everyone She Knows" Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen - "Rodeo Clown"
I will ask that those who have already submitted please add those 5 songs when they get a chance :)
Here is the full list: May 2020:
The Playlist: (Runtime 1:34:23) 1. 6th Avenue Heartache - Sara Evans 2. All Night - Brothers Osborne 3. Almost Maybes - Jordan Davis 4. Easy Goin' - Clay Walker 5. Every Other Memory - Ryan Hurd 6. Everyone She Knows - Kenny Chesney 7. Fire And Flame - Kip Moore 8. Girls Like Me - Martina McBride 9. Got Me - Gabby Barrett ft. Shane & Shane 10. I Called Mama - Tim McGraw 11. Julianna Calm Down - Dixie Chicks 12. Lady - Brett Young 13. Light Changes Everything - Carolyn Dawn Johnson 14. Never Have I Ever - Danielle Bradbery 15. Only Children - Jason Isbell 16. The Optimist - Kelleigh Bannen 17. Poet's Prayer - Sunny Sweeney 18. Rodeo Clown - Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen 19. Rolling Stone - Lainey Wilson 20. Six Feet Apart - Luke Combs 21. Small Town Hypocrite - Caylee Hammack 22. Trash My Heart - Walker Hayes 23. When Life Is Good Again - Dolly Parton 24. When You're My Age - Lori McKenna ft. Hillary Lindsey & Liz Rose 25. The caveat for this of course is that EVERYONE who just requested a change in the playlist has to put Martina as their #1 ;)
