Do you ever hear 80's music on oldies stations, which generally focus on 60's and 70's songs as a rule? The local olides station will sometimes plays 80's songs, particularly those by artists whose older music is typical for the format.
Case in point, I recently heard them play Roy Orbison's "You Got It". In the past year or two, I've also heard The Beach Boys' "Kokomo" and several Billy Joel songs from the "Innocent Man" era.
Is this common?

Is your oldies station a Clear Channel station? My local oldies station is a CC station and just started playing some 80s music. Several of their oldies stations use the moniker "Super Hits of the 60s and 70s".

If he's talking about WKHL Stamford-Norwalk, that's a Cox station.

The station I was talking about is WDRC in Hartford. I'm not sure who owns them.

KOLA-FM in San Bernardino-Riverside is for my money the best oldies station in Southern California,
The only song from the eighties they play (and they've been playing it for YEARS!!!!) in 1988's 'Kokomo', from the Beach Boys.

The only 80's songs our old oldies station would play were right on the dot of 1980 (namely Chilliwack's My Girl or April Wine's I Wanna Rock), but on the new oldies station, you can easily hear something from Dire Straits, Huey Lewis, etc.
