As far as I know that's never happened. And you call yourself a Carrie fan!?!? Carrie Underwood won the Horizon Award and Female Vocalist of the Year at the CMAs in 2006. Listen, I was 6

I hope Footprints On The Moon is her new single. When I see this from time to time around here...am I missing something? I'm not nearly as au fait with the Country music world as most on the sub-forum, but Footprints On The Moon sounds like a song from the background in The Hills in 2007. What about it screams Country smash in 2021? What else on Country radio or what qualities does it share with I Hope/The Good Ones, that make anyone think it such a surefire follow up? The lyrics aren't particularly clever, the fridge-magnet philosophy is among the album's least clever, and the sonics aren't particularly Country to me (it gives me very late 00s Hot AC, like I say). If she releases a third single from the project, I'd like it not to be Footprints, and whatever it is could do with a feature (Thank God, feat. Luke Combs for instance) to give it a freshen up for radio before a proper sophomore lead in Q4.

I thought so. Maybe Gabby win do the same. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Gabby nab a Female Vocalist nomination because she has had an amazing year, but I think the competition is a lot stiffer in the FVOTY category today than it was in 2006, in my opinion. I'd be shell-shocked to see Gabby win in the Female category though. Carrie was able to win both the Horizon Award and Female Vocalist because she had an EXPLOSIVE year - coming straight off an American Idol win, Jesus Take the Wheel being massive in all metrics, and Carrie's sales just being through the roof. "I Hope" was a massive hit too, but largely because of her crossover success. I don't feel like Gabby has anywhere near the hype and acclaim to her name that Carrie did back when she nabbed both the awards. Gabby has a good shot, and is likely even the frontrunner, for the New Artist award at the CMAs, but I think she gets left off of the Female category altogether.

This is a good question, and I’m not being mean, but do you think Carly would’ve went to number one if Combs didn’t help her write IHYHN and if Brice wasn’t on there with her? , also plus I have a love/hate relationship with Ashley McBryde . Her “Girl Going Nowhere”, “One Night Standards” , and her “long title (I can’t remember the title)” are the songs I like. I can’t stand her “Never Will album. IMO the five should be : Ballerini, Barrett, Lambert, Morris and Underwood. These are the five who did the best sololy in 2020-2021. Getting back on topic, I’m happy the “Good Ones” went to number 1. She is well deserving. I love this song.

She is well deserving. I love this song. I don't necessarily think Luke's name being attached to IHYHN helped the song much. His songwriting skills definitely did, but the vast majority of people who know the song probably don't know he wrote it with Carly. I also don't think Lee's a big enough name to really help boost a song for an artist like Carly. So I truly think IHYHN was the success it was because of how great a song it is. I also think Carly has a lot of industry support and she seems super likable and passionate. You can't help to root for someone like her when you see her react the way she did when she won Single of the Year. Carly is far from my favorite female vocalist in the genre, but she's growing as a writer and artist and creating some really, really good music and with the industry behind her like it seems to be, I think she's going to be one in contention for a spot in the Female Vocalist category for awhile. Ashley is an interesting case because I'm not a huge fan of hers myself (although "One Night Standards" and "Girl Goin' Nowhere" are both great, but the industry certainly is a huge supporter of Ashley and that's why she's been nominated for several awards in the past few years. The hard thing about award shows like ACMs/CMAs/Grammys is that it's not about popularity and success. It's about that plus artistry and acclaim, which are harder to measure. While Gabby has the success, she doesn't have the artistry and acclaim to the extent that Ashley and Carly have, at least not yet. Which is why I don't think we'll see Gabby's name in the Female Vocalist category at the CMAs this fall.

Gabby is off the ground running with huge success. Does any other female country artist have a 5x platinum single in the last year or so? I want to say no but could be wrong. Anyway it will be interesting to see how Gabby grows from Album 1 to album 2. Gabby my favorite artist since kellie pickler! I figured since kellie pickler shows no sign of new music I better move on.

Maren Morris got a 3x Platinum hit with "The Bones", but a 5x Platinum hit is pretty rare for a female artist. And the song is still in the top 20 on iTunes and doing good streaming wise, i wouldn't be surprise if she's 6x Platinum by the end of the year.

#1 radio and top 20 on the hot 100! Along with her other #1 and top 3 with “I Hope, “ she’s having great success. Completely happy for her as I love both these songs. I haven’t listened to her album fully, but I will one of these days. Let’s hope she releases more singles from it though, because I miss the days of really working an album until the next. If you have the material, release it, and increase those numbers. :)

I still would like to see Jesus and My Momma released. I think it would work well on country radio. I love Footprints but not sure in country radio would play it. Thank god I really like but the theme is too much like The Good Ones.
This song is number one on all genres on iTunes. They need to push it to pop radio.
Goldmine might be a good option too as a third single. That one reminds me of vintage Carrie Underwood.

This has a good chance to stay at #1 for a 3rd week on Billboard. Last 3 week plus #1 by a female artist I believe was Carrie’s “Becore He Cheats”.

That was 2010 and 2006 respectively though, so it’s very rare for women to achieve this. In fact, I think Miranda is the most recent example of a three-or-more stint, so I’m hoping Gabby gets to do it with “The Good Ones” as it really is an incredible song with wonderful vocals and production.

Lol I said this last week y'all: Yeah, I'm ecstatic that this is #1, and as much as I'd like to see Tenille Arts hit #1 as well, especially considering the odds against her (Canadian woman on an independent label who has been selling and streaming terribly throughout the single's run), I'd rather see Gabby stay on the throne for 3 weeks at least, especially because to see a woman do that would prove how the tides have been changing throughout the start of this decade so far. I can't even remember the last time a woman has had three or more weeks at #1--the earliest I can think of is Faith Hill sitting at #1 for six weeks with "Breathe." That was over 20 years ago now. I believe -- but I could be wrong -- the last solo woman to get more than 2 weeks at #1 was Miranda Lambert with "The House That Built Me" in 2010.

She says in that Bobby Bones interview they are bouncing around 2 songs for her next single and it’s coming soon. She didn’t say if it was off the goldmine album or new music. I assume it’s from Goldmine.

Hopefully we will find out Monday what it will be. The album still has legs. It did really well during The Good Ones run.
I don’t really listen to radio because I am not in the car that much. I had a appointment today and it felt cool hearing The Good Ones on the radio.
