I really liked his album, but this definitely wasn't a standout for me. The melody is pretty good, though far from the best the album has to offer, and the lyrics are predictably dull. These types of songs have been beat to death, and this one does little to distinguish itself.

Was literally just wondering the other day if they were going to send another single from Riley's album given it's been a decent time since "Grandpa" died.

Yay I was wondering what the next single would be and whether he was going to release another from "Different 'Round Here" or if he was going to wait until the next album. Glad he is giving another one from this album a go! Hope its a hit for him.

Can anyone explain the meaning of the "Truth is in the words, in red we read" line in the chorus? I've been racking my brain, but I don't understand what the "in red we read" part is referring to.

I believe it’s referring to the Bible. Yes, it is. There are certain bibles that have the words spoken by Jesus printed in red.

We stand for the flag and if you don't like it we don't care
Gonna be hard to get past this line for me with this one, especially given his poor taste comments about the Super Bowl halftime show a few months back and also given... the current state of affairs in our country. I liked the way the song sounded otherwise, but that lyric made me cringe.

Because it was the people who did stand who cared and whined and bitched and moaned about the people kneeling. The people kneeling didn't care if you stood up. But dumb f**ks like Riley Green sure seemed to care if you didn't. I hope this guy never has another hit the rest of his pathetic career.

Its not a crime for people to be patriotic. And its not as extreme as Toby Keith's "Angry American."

It’s not a crime to be patriotic and no one said otherwise. I just don’t think him whining about standing/kneeling for the national anthem makes him patriotic.

I loved “There Was This Girl”, “In Love By Now” and this one is pretty good as is “Grandpa’s...” but I have a feeling that standing up for the flag comment may be tough for lots of people. Not sure if this is going to be a hit. Part of me feels like Riley might never really become big because of some of his opinions and he will blame it on country radio not playing country music anymore.

I don’t mind his two hits, but his personality and comments have turned me off of liking his music. I have no interest in seeing this one take off.

Very humble and down to earth. And I don't believe he is racist, some of his best friends are black and he even posted that on Instagram today for "#blackouttuesday."

Trying to say this delicately, but that is probably the worst example someone can use. I have met plenty of racist people who are nice to me too. Doesn't mean they're nice and doesn't mean they're not racist.

I will admit he probably was pressured into doing it (virtually all of the country singers did it), but he still could had easily not done it since it was his choice in the end.

You kinda answered that one for yourself, lol. And to be fair, I don't think he even has to actually be "racist" in this case. The line about standing for the flag is cringe-y and in poor taste, regardless of whether he has black friends or not. It strikes me as just ignorant more than anything, which isn't great either, but there's obviously levels to how problematic someone is. Plenty of people are just not appropriately self-aware of their unconscious biases and/or their privilege, and he probably falls more into that category.

I mean, you still have to add the Super Bowl comments and the Robert E. Lee line in his other song. It's not like this is an ambiguous comment coming from someone with no previous history

Any word on when this will be sent to radio? He has been singing some unreleased songs over the past few months on Instagram, I wonder if he is going to wait to record those and release one of those as a single instead.
