Today's extra was his first charted solo entry after the breakup of Raydio. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 and spent 4 weeks at #2 on the soul chart.
The Other Woman - Ray Parker Jr.
This would have been a strong contender for my #1 if it was included in this rankdown. This would've been my #3 at least, if not my #2. Love RPJ, pre-ghostbusters. I do think he got a good bit of his mojo back in 1987 with this one....

Two extras today. First up is the first single released after Eugene Record rejoined this group from The Windy City. It peaked at #15 on the soul chart.
Hot On a Thing (Called Love) - The Chi-Lites
Next up is a song that Ja Rule sampled in his 2001 hit "Livin' It Up". It spent 4 weeks at #2 on the soul chart and #13 on the Hot 100.
Do I Do - Stevie Wonder

Submissions are now closed, and reveals will begin shortly.
But first, an extra. While it went all the way to #1 on the Hot 100, it couldn't quite get there on the soul chart. Instead it spent a record-breaking 9 weeks at #2.
Truly - Lionel Richie

Really though? I’d expect “Call Me” to rank higher but outside the Top 5.

My mom was friends with Dimples so I heard that song way too much growing up and I still don't care for it. May he continue to rest in peace though!
Call Me is such a groove! Y'all are some offbeat haters!

Another extra today. It's the first charted single by the youngest sibling of this legendary family from Gary, Indiana. It spent 7 weeks at #6 on the soul chart. Written and co-produced by Rene Moore and Angela Winbush.

Y'all are some offbeat haters! I could not get into sis brazenly stepping to her supposed friend's man/ex-man. I'm picky about my levels of trifeness! ...now let someone turn on Part-Time Lover (Stevie or H-Town) and my hypocritical self will be bopping smh

It's Gonna Take A Miracle is a fucking classic and Deniece Williams is a LEGEND. How DARE you??
I had that Dimples album on vinyl as a kid, LOL. I forgot the song that was the hit and I guess it was the one on this list. That song sucks LOL.

13. If it ain’t one thing (13): clear bottom of the barrel to me. It was a first listen. Not offensively bad, but just too much of elevator music to me
12. It’s gonna take a miracle (10): I do know this one, as it had good airplay back in Peru in the 80s. She sounds good, and it’s got a nice singalong melody, but the style is too... retro
11. Call me (6): this was my favorite discovery! Really sexy groovy funky sound, that has a bit of 70s Ring my bell and Chic and a hint of early Madonna. I know the lyrics are a bit too whorey but c’est la vie!

The vocals were amazing on this song. Jennifer Hudson did a good cover but it's nothing compared to the original.

Zapp continues to be underappreciated and Jennifer's vocal is outta this world but the song just felt out of place here.

"And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" is such an event vocally, no matter which Jennifer is singing it.
