It was bound to happen eventually. Might as well happen in a year where she didn’t release any country music.

I'm not a religious person at all, however, I LOVE hearing Carrie sing these songs. You can tell she believes every single word that she's singing and, between this and the Christmas album, I think these are her best vocals to date. The dynamics, vibrancy, warmth and build to the power in her voice displayed in these arrangements is just stunning. I cannot WAIT to hear the rest of this album. That harmony between CU and CW right at the very end is what you first hear upon entering Heaven.

It's understandable Carrie didn't get a Female nod, but also sad to see the streak end. I feel like Miranda would still get a nom in a year she released anything (i.e. a holiday album). I loved her "Softly and Tenderly" performance and still revisit it some. That had such an atmosphere, too, that I doubt a studio recording can capture. The song's production is identical to her CMA Awards performance, as is her vocal delivery, so I'd say it captured the atmosphere pretty well. The only difference is it's 30 seconds shorter (Carrie broke down right at the end of the CMA performance and didn't in the studio recording) and the instrumental break is not a flute but a string instrument. (It sounds like a guitar but I know it's not exactly a guitar; I just know it's a string instrument) I just meant the atmosphere an intimate live performance brings. I prefer the live versions of Kelly Clarkon's "Piece by Piece" and Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There" to the recorded versions of those same ballads for a similar reason.

I'm honestly surprised Carrie didn't receive an ACM nod for Female. She wasn't super active last year, but she also wasn't totally out of the picture. She did release My Gift.
Entertainer makes sense, and honestly, she shouldn't have been nominated for Entertainer this year anyway.

Honestly I just feel like it’s weird she wasn’t nominated for Female. I mean obviously it’s been a weird year, but she has been very visible. I’d feel more fine if the Christmas album is just considered a side project and not a country LP, but still. Idk. I just think inside industry politics keep screwing her over.

I think it's more weird that she wasn't nominated for Female Vocalist, but she was nominated for Music Video? For a Christmas music video? Like, if they aren't going to consider the Christmas album, fine, but then don't consider music videos made for the Christmas album either. I would be less surprised, intrigued, even a little disappointed, about it if she had received zero nominations, but they're obviously considering My Gift since Hallelujah was nominated for MV.
She's been nominated every year since 2006, right? So 15 consecutive years? Is that a record? If so, I don't see her holding it for very long. Still impressive, but Miranda will probably be nominated every year until she retires, so.

Are we still trying to figure why she isn't nominated or isn't winning? I mean... It's country music. 😂
Miranda will need to announce that she refuses to accept any awards in order to stop them from nominating her lol.

Still impressive, but Miranda will probably be nominated every year until she retires, so. Yes it is a record, but I’m pretty sure next year Miranda ties it. Carrie’s very much an anomaly when you look at most of the award winners between the ACM and the CMA over the course of her career. Most industry award winners tend to be solidly country - it’s a bit subjective, but overall the winners tend to be very country. Looking back, it’s actually unbelievable how awarded Carrie has been. It’s crazy to talk about snubs in reference to a 3-time & reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, but it still feels discouraging knowing she’s literally the best overall vocalist and the top female entertainer in country music today. To not see her name - and no women nonetheless in Entertainer, and then not in Female Artist either, it’s definitely shocking... But.... her last country album release was three calendar years ago, and the last single was released a year and a half ago; then peaked a little under a year ago. She released a Christmas album and somehow scored a nomination from that, which I honestly think is cool. She’s still a nominee this year, entirely based off a Christmas album - I find that impressive. Truth is, there are finally enough women to make the Female categories competitive and Carrie has a lot to do with it; through her work advocating for women in country music. We’ll see what the future holds and if she rejoins the category once there’s a country release/tour (I would imagine so), but for 15 years it’s been Carrie and Miranda and that went on way longer than it ever should have. As a fan, I hate to see Carrie’s name out of the big categories, but there’s a lot of pretty good reasons why she’s not there this year. Women killed it in 2020, and they deserve to have their names listed amongst the best, too. Carrie is the best, she raised the bar; history will absolutely show this to be true if it isn’t already clear to everyone. She has more than enough hardware to back it up, anything more at this point is icing on the cake... Though, I’m bitter and always will be towards the CMA - that’s a different story. If Carrie never wins EOTY there, I think that’ll go down as the biggest snub in their history... no one really tracks that, but I think it’s pretty fucked up considering she spent 12 years with their organization as a host and ambassador... Anyway, yeah... just rambling so I’ll stop. I’ll just say I don’t think we’re done seeing Carrie nominated for the big ones. Whenever there’s a new country album, so long as it’s successful, I think she’s up for at least one or two more rounds of awards seasons... she honestly needs some real hits, though, otherwise I don’t know.

People are already making excuses in the ACM thread for who Carrie will replace next year, and despite the “fantastic 2020 for women” it’s always Kelsea or Carly or Ashley.

If Carrie never wins EOTY there, I think that’ll go down as the biggest snub in their history... no one really tracks that, but I think it’s pretty f**ked up considering she spent 12 years with their organization as a host and ambassador... I'm certainly not denying that women had more success in 2020 than years previously, nor am I trying to undermine the work Carrie did to help make that happen. I 100% believe that Carrie has worked incredibly hard trying to pave the way for future country female artists to achieve some mainstream success. Carrie has a lot to be proud of in that regard. However. Carrie is still a bigger name (in and out of country music) than anyone on that list, including Miranda. My Gift alone made a larger impact than anything released by several of these women in the last year. (And that's not to mention Drinking Alone, SNF, etc.) I would 100% buy the argument that My Gift wasn't a consideration because it's not a country album. That would be a completely valid argument...except Hallelujah was nominated for Music Video. Now, I'm certainly not "complaining" that Carrie received an ACM nomination for MV, but if My Gift was in consideration (which it obviously was) then Carrie 100% deserved a nomination in Female Artist as well. If My Gift wasn't a consideration, then Hallelujah shouldn't be nominated for MV, and while I would be disappointed, I would definitely understand and agree that a nomination this year wasn't earned. In the grand scheme of things, you're right in that it really doesn't matter. Carrie will go on, and it certainly won't be last award she's ever nominated for. But I still seriously question the lack of a nomination in Female Artist.

Did Tears of Gold ever do anything overseas? I’m not even sure where it was released at or if it was I don’t even think it was released as a single technically. However, it is currently up for a Latin AMA for Favorite Video of the Year which was announced today!

Hoping Moran Wallen's album doesn't block My Savior from #1 on the country albums chart.

Hoping Moran Wallen's album doesn't block My Savior from #1 on the country albums chart. Morgan does not stand a chance against her. I know it's a gospel album, but if My Gift made it to #1 on only 43,000 total copies, My Savior will fly right up to the penthouse. Not to mention that there are people who will continue to refuse giving Morgan the time of day and will not be flocking anytime soon for his record.

Yeah, but Morgan's album has been #1 on the all genre 200 chart since it released January and is still pulling in strong weekly #'s. It did around 90,000 units this past week despite being in its 7th week of release, and is dropping at snails pace. Definitely something to be on the lookout for.

Did My Gift count on the country albums chart? And, will My Savior? It's a gospel album...I know other country artists have released gospel albums in the past. Have they counted on country albums?
I think Morgan Wallen is definitely someone to look out for. If Morgan pulled in 90,000 units last week, I can't imagine he does less than 50,000 by the time My Savior comes out. I think it'll be close...if it was a "standard" country album, I'd say no way. But this is unprecedented territory for Carrie.

I’m sure they’ll market MS as both gospel & country, so I imagine she and her team might want to strategize release week for the sake of maintaining her streak on that chart. But idk. Maybe they’ll just throw it at Gospel and let it go #1 there.

I can't believe how well his album is doing still. It's been like a month, hasn't it? You'd think it would've died down by now since he's so MIA on radio and streaming.

^Right, but he was cut from playlists, right? So that means people are still actively searching him out on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. which is kind of surprising at this point.
I am kind of surprised streaming services haven't pulled his catalog altogether actually. I think that'd be the only thing significantly dropping him at this point.

All the kids I teach are really into him. If radio stations don’t want to play him, that’s fine, I guess. They play what they want. Pulling him from streaming is different. He has a big audience and if people want to listen then there’s no reason to deny them.
I don’t understand why Carrie hasn’t filmed a performance of any of the tracks from the album that moms and aunts aren’t sharing all over Facebook right now. Her 2011 Girls Night Out performance is still hanging around. That’s the audience you want running to Amazon and ordering the CD.

When do y’all suspect we’ll get a new regular album by Carrie? I don’t want to sound disappointed we are getting My Savior, but the moment it was announced the first thing I thought is “what does this mean for CU7.” It just feels like CP was so long ago. I’m trying to stay hopeful that we will at least get the lead by CMA time, but who knows.

Her timelines have always been unpredictable ever since she stopped the "every other year" cycle when making Blown Away. Wouldn't surprise me if we got a new country album by the end of this year, though. I don't think she, or most others, consider My Gift or My Savior as anything beyond filler passion projects between her last major record and the next. I appreciate these two in-between albums, as it's definitely kept her in the limelight and is maintaining her profile.
