This is one hell of a good Reba song. Heartbreaking lyrics and production, and of course the vocal wrings every emotion out that is needed. She had a lot of balls sending this to radio and that's what I love about Reba--she's never afraid to take those big risks.

kamala 2024 truther nails the prediction for our #10. Reba was one of the biggest forces in this rankdown, as evidenced by the fact that ALL of her songs made the top 10, with honestly no trouble whatsoever. "She Thinks His Name Was John" proved to be the weak link of her songs, but its performance is nothing to sneeze at! Just look at that wall of top 6 rankings! While this song is a lyrical juggernaut, and blazed a really brave trail taking on the AIDS epidemic in a time when it was quite a misunderstood disease that led to a lot of hate being spread in the world, ultimately I think it makes sense for it to be in the back half of the top 10. There are a lot of great songs here, and this one is not quite as much of a repeat-listener for me as most of the others.

Not to mention that you simply can't just give this a random spin and expect to jam out to it; it's one of those "have-to-be-in-the-mood" songs.

Am I the only one here right now? Anyways, color me shocked that "I Hope You Dance" didn't make it to the Top 5! I figured that its iconic status as one of the genre-defining hits would've made this a Top 5 lock.

Y'all, I still cannot believe that "I Hope You Dance" won its first rankdown just a couple months ago This feels like one of those songs that would have won several rankdowns by now!!! I know this song has kinda become a love/hate song for Lee Ann, because it is so different from the rest of her career and yet has come to singlehandedly define her career, but honestly I love just about everything about this song and am so glad it has been so successful for her. It was barely a top 10 contender here, but I think it fits right in with this top 10!

Damn I was hoping "I Hope You Dance" could sneak into the top 5... it's one of my favorite country songs ever so I knew from when I saw this list that it was going to be my #1 ("Write This Down" which was my #2 came close though), I haven't gotten tired of this song a single bit.

always great to see Martina show up in these. "When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues" is a classic, I love that one!
"She Thinks His Name Was John" is incredible. It isn't a song I go out of my way to listen to but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate it for what it is. It was on the lower end of my list because of that fact but definitely not upset to see it make it here.
"I Hope You Dance" should have been in the Top 5, Lee Ann deserves more respect than she gets. She either has this song that many are sick of or her other classics are being forgotten, which is terrible. Oh and shameless plug but anyone who likes "I Hope You Dance" should make their way over to the Album Series rankdown thread and submit their list for Lee Ann's There's More Where That Came From and Call Me Crazy albums (Both are among her best albums EVER!)

Patty's iconic ballad about moving on from heartbreaking loss leaves us next, taking with it FOUR peoples' #1s!!! In fact, this is the song with the most #1s of the entire rankdown

"How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" is incredible. Being someone that moved a lot growing up that first verse gets to me but it is that third verse, saying goodbye to her mother is heartbreaking and brings me back to the moment my Grandmother passed, sadly I never got a last conversation with her but I feel like she was trying to help us all say goodbye for the last few months of her life and all of us just refused to listen and didn't realize it until it was too late.
SO SO SO HAPPY that this made it to the Top 10 because honestly I never thought it had a chance

The extreme loud SHeDAISY stans around here unfortunately have to see their girls stumble just shy of the top 5 here, but I am honestly just thrilled that "Mine All Mine" made the top 10!!!! This is one of their catchiest jams, and I love it so much And being fresh off a 5-week #1 streak in the Pulse Country Top 40 thread, followed by a top 10 placement in a rankdown as competitive as this one, means that this song has had a really good summer on Pulse, lol. Since we're promoting rankdowns, don't forget to join the Fortuneteller's Melody album rankdown if you want to hear what's next from SHeSMASHY!!

"Mine All Mine" has quickly become my favorite SHeDAISY song throughout the exposure to it I had from Pulse Country Top 40 and the Knock on the Sky rankdown! It's still mind-boggling to me that it was barely a top 30 hit on radio (the lead single choice wasn't the best but still).

Love "Mine All Mine" and it being in the Pulse Country Top 40 helped me spend more time listening to it and growing to love the song even more than I already did!
Bye Bye LeAnn Rimes!

Hint for our last song to miss the top 5 This gif of course refers to the fact that this was the sloooooooowest country rankdown we have ever had!!! I may have to go double check, but I'm pretty sure it was at LEAST 2 1/2 years from the date the thread was opened to the date when it was finished revealing 6. "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)" - LeAnn Rimes

For our second-to-last bonus, I thought it would be fitting to honor Queen Reba McEntire once again since she had all of her songs in the top 10, and also has the most songs in the top 5!!
"Maggie Creek Road" is such a dark, moody song that honestly kicks ass in every way. I mean, it is essentially a song about a mother warning her daughter to stay away from the local rape spot, and the daughter fails to listen, so the mom goes and saves her daughter from being raped. The mother is such a powerful character, made extra believable by Reba's signature presence and personality behind the microphone. This song joined the world of rankdown winners for the first time when it dominated in her recent album tracks rankdown for her best album tracks of the 21st century, but was ultimately ineligible to be used again here because it was in our last RotB rankdown after finishing at #2 in the album rankdown behind "Consider Me Gone"!
Bonus: "Maggie Creek Road" - Reba McEntire
Finished at #1 in the: Reba McEntire 2000/2010s Album Track Rankdown (Host: bboat11 )

And for our final bonus song we must honor.....Reba herself The last rankdown that has yet to be honored is of course the Icons of Country Music rankdown, which was unlike anything we have ever done before in the sense that artists themselves were pitted against each other rather than their songs! In true icon fashion, Queen Reba slayed the competition, winning the title of Pulse's biggest country music icon Of course, since the rankdown did not use songs, the winner could not exactly participate in the BotB rankdown like it would in a normal rankdown... But it was still a super lit experience that was a lot of fun and deserves to be mentioned here!!
