This 1970 song is one of the group's most well-known songs. The song is about a railroad engineer who is on the verge of a train wreck due to his train going too fast, a sleeping switch man, and another train being on the same track and headed for him. Jones is described as being "high on cocaine" (the song even makes a double entendre of advising Jones to "watch his speed"). It was inspired by the story of an actual engineer named Casey Jones though the song bears no resemblance whatsoever to the actual train wreck.
I heard this for the first time last week during a Twitch DJ's set in the form of a new track that samples this so I checked out the original afterwards and I like it.
