What’s everyone think about her debut album? I’m enjoying it! I think she is going to have a great career!

Overall, a great album!
Standout tracks, aside from the singles:
"Footprints On The Moon" "Jesus & My Mama "Write It On My Heart"
I love Gabby. "I Hope" was instant for me but it took me a while to warm up to her voice, but I eventually did and now I love it! Hope she has a long and successful career. An extremely talented young lady.

Those first four tracks are country-pop perfection

I'd pre-ordered the album on her website back in the beginning of May (I pre-ordered the signed CD which should be coming soon I believe, and the vinyl which will ship in September) and it came with a download of the album. I wasn't able to give it a spin until just now--WOW! I'd been ready for this album since I heard her on American Idol and "I Hope" had come out soon after, and it was worth the wait imo! This album is, in my opinion, the best of 2020 thus far by a mile (in fairness tho, I haven't yet heard some of the newer albums, like Kenny Chesney's for instance). Gabby Barrett has the VOCALS!!! She's one of those ones who could sing the phonebook and make it amazing. This album is zero-skip certified too--in fact, I love almost every song! The only song that might take some time is "You're the Only Reason." Overall, this was an excellent album and I wish Gabby an incredible career! Personal standouts: "I Hope," "Thank God," "Footprints On the Moon," "Goldmine," "The Good Ones," "Hall Of Fame," "Got Me," "Rose Needs A Jack" (She's exactly my age too--what's my excuse?! ) As for singles, I would go this route: 1. I Hope (of course) 2. The Good Ones 3. Rose Needs A Jack (as a dual release, I think "Got Me" is PERFECTLY tailor-made for Christian radio) 4. Thank God or Footprints On the Moon 5. Goldmine (if 5 singles is possible)

Very strong debut effort! I feel like she adds a unique voice and musical touch to the country music landscape as far as the rising females are concerned, and that's nice to see. I can definitely see this album having the kind of run with singles that Kelsea Ballerini had with her debut, because there's a lot of potential for smashes here imo and radio and the GP alike seem to really be digging her so far.
For singles, I'd say that "Footprints on the Moon" 100% needs a release. Wow, what a jam! That one and either "Got Me" or "Thank God" would probably be her best bets for the third/fourth release. And I think "The Good Ones" is going to give her back-to-back #1s to kick off the era, too. I see that one being another home run for her.
My standouts so far: I Hope, Hall of Fame, Footprints on the Moon, Jesus & My Mama, You're the Only Reason, and Got Me.

The first four songs on the album are just back to back excellence. It reminds me of GIRL's first four songs... just a stellar way to start the album. Really really excellent debut. The album has a very distinct feel to it... It isn't necessarily a sound we have heard before, but it isn't completely out of left field. Again, I think we have a star on our hands.
Singles: "I Hope" "The Good Ones" "Thank God" "Footprints on the Moon"
Send all of the singles to Hot AC/Pop along the way. "I Hope" is top 30 on Pop after just over a month, so I absolutely see crossover success.
Send "Got Me" to Christian radio. Like, immediately.
By the time concerts are allowed to happen again, she will be likely headlining her own tours. Insane. We love an organic female country breakout star!

Overall a good debut album - reminds me of Montevallo in a way in that it has a lot of pop influence. Doesn't mean it's bad though (I mean I love Montevallo so...)! I feel like there's some effect on top of her voice that makes things sound a little "off" for me (this was present in "I Hope" as well) in a lot of the tracks but otherwise I think it's solid and this album has the potential to go places and I'm happy with what came out.
I personally would've preferred "Footprints on the Moon"/"Hall of Fame" as the second single as those are some of the standouts on the album for me whereas "The Good Ones" is a step below those for me currently, but it should do well regardless though.
Personal favorites (in no particular order): "I Hope", "Footprints on the Moon", "Goldmine" (a Caitlyn Smith cowrite!), "Jesus & My Mama", "Hall of Fame"
EDIT: The album did seem a little monotone looking back - the quality of the individual songs are overall good, but a chunk of the album sound pretty similar at least to me.

I was a little underwhelmed here, many of the songs just kind of sounded the same. That said, there were some standouts and "I Hope" is one of my favorite singles in the past few years. I think her star is bright and as she gets older and her career gets more developed, her output will just get stronger.

Definitely a solid album, and a goldmine of hits (lol)... She should have no problem becoming the next female superstar of country. This girl is really talented, and there are some killer vocals on here too. Looking forward to watching her career!

Haven't seen much talk about it, but as I listen to the album, "You're the Only Reason" continues to worm its way up in my fictional ranking of the tracklist. That chorus melody is just MONEY. The little interlude of her 'suggesting' the melody of the hook before the song begins on the record is so fitting because damn, that melody is an earworm. I also am loving how the song climaxes with the choir coming in and trading off with her. Another comment I have about the record is that the intro to "Write It on My Heart" makes me think Avril Lavigne is about to start singing every time. The music and the little melisma notes she does before she starts singing the song sounds so reminiscent of Avril's musical style to me.

I am so glad you mentioned the Avril comparison because I could NOT place my finger on it, but wow, that is absolutely what I hear too. In fact, I hear a lot of mid-2000s pop influence on this album. I've said before that "The Good Ones" sounds like it could be an early Rihanna song, and while I agree with you that "You're the Only Reason" is an absolute earworm, I can't help but think it sounds like it could belong on Pop radio in 2006. I really appreciate the unique sound this album has. It is distinct.

Sorry to double post, but I thought it would be interesting to show how the Spotify stream rankings of the non-promo songs from the album are shaping up a week into release:
Not listed: I Hope (both versions), The Good Ones, Got Me, Footprints on the Moon (but it is gaining tons of streams), Hall of Fame
1. Goldmine (93K) 2. Write It on My Heart (59K) 3. You're the Only Reason I'm Here (58K) 4. Thank God (55K) 5. Strong (41K) 6. Rose Needs a Jack (36K) 7. Jesus & My Mama (36K -- literally 54 streams less)
I find it interesting that Goldmine is taking off like it is... it seems to be the most polarizing on the album so far as most either love or hate it. I love the first half of the album and that seems to be where most of the streams are consistent (this is also normal...people stop listening to albums halfway through). It will be interesting to see how her sales do in the first week and if she can lock #1 Country Albums.

jab820 I wonder if a decent amount of the spins for "Goldmine" are due to it just being the album's title track. There's been times where I searched for an album on Spotify and it brought up the title track for me first instead of the entire album. Songs that are at the beginning of albums also tend to rack up streams more than ones in the latter half, so that list doesn't seem too surprising beyond the abnormally high streams for "Goldmine."

Overall a good debut, my favourites are the two singles, followed by You're The Only Reason and Footprints on the Moon. Sales aren't great but streaming is obviously doing well and during a pandemic, where opportunities for exposure are decreased as well as the looming recession I think it would be hard to get better numbers.

The album broke the record for the most first week debut album streams.

This includes her record-breaking streaming? Seems like a mismatch. You’d think a record breaking album would post better overall numbers than this, no? But I have no clue how this all works anymore.

The record is for a new artist (debut album specifically). Regardless, this is a really good number for Gabby considering it’s only 10k below first week SPS from more established acts such as Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, and Lady A.

It was #4 on the country charts. I don't think her #'s are bad. Lindsay Ell was #1 with about 9,000 - 11,000 in sales her 1st week and Raelynn had a #1 country album debut with about 18,000 in sales. 20 k is a good number for a debut album. Everyone pays for a streaming service these days, no need to buy the cd. Also the pandemic didn't help, people aren't rushing to Target and Walmart to buy a cd

So I finally got around to listening to this album and I am very underwhelmed and kind of annoyed that country radio and the public loves her music the most of all the new females to break in the last couple of years as outside of "I Hope" (which I am not even a fan of due to how loud and overproduced the chorus is) and "Footprints On The Moon" the rest of this album was painfully mediocre. Happy she is seeing all the success but among women in country music I can think of at least a dozen female acts I would rather see succeed as much as Gabby Barrett is.

This is pretty great? Wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. My only gripe is there seems to be a lot of faith based songs... not that those are bad? I always just wonder if those are thrown in to pander to the country purest base that expect those kinda songs. But I guess a good song is a good song. For a debut, it’s great. Covers all bases and can definitely see there being a couple more hits from it. You can definitely tell the label wants this to be the beginning of the next big female artist.
Are there better albums and artists out there? Sure. But that doesn’t negate the fact this is a strong debut and if sets her up to dominate.

But I dunno, I’d be shocked if half the country artists out there believe is whatever faith they talk about in those kinda songs! They’d be blacklisted if they said otherwise.

Wanting someone to suffer heartbreak and pain isn't very Christian. I like, "I Hope." That is it. The rest of the album is mediocre at best.

edph1 her having several songs with a Christian bent to them seems to be a bit of a unique niche for Gabby here. It's certainly not uncommon as a topic for country artists, but it's definitely more of a focal point for her over basically any other mainstream female outside Carrie Underwood. She's been pretty open about her faith previously, too, so the faith-based songs definitely weren't just put there as a way to pander, and it offers another way to set her apart a little bit from singers like Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini. Wanting someone to suffer heartbreak and pain isn't very Christian. This isn't the first time I've seen this brought up and I'm not sure I understand it? I don't think there's a single artist in the country genre who identifies as Christian where something like this would not 'disqualify' them. Carrie Underwood is the first one who comes to mind and she regularly sings about her faith in between songs about destroying property and murder and I never see it expressed that she isn't very Christian...

You're right. I don't think many would be able to qualify. It's why I find so many religious people hypocritical.
