I actually agree that Fantasia's voice is very cringe-worthy at times. I've struggled with her since she was on Idol and I remember being so disappointed that she won due to that. However, while her voice is not my cup of tea I can understand her popularity because of her lyrics and music is surprisingly good in many aspects. I'd never rank her super high because of her voice but I do think "Bittersweet" might be one of my favorite things I've ever heard from her, at least that I remember as I never revisit anything from her lol Yeah, I can see how her voice would be polarizing. I was just being dramatic for fun, lol. That said, comparing her as a winner to someone like Lee DeWyze is.... quite the whiplash. Crazy to think how low the bar fell for someone like him to win. I definitely agree. I remember being so disappointed he won because he was a cheap version of Kris Allen who won the season before and while I like Kris a lot, Lee I definitely was not a fan

I think I might go ahead and complete the top 5 later tonight!
We are down to 5 different alumni aiming for that #1 spot.
Will it be:
Kelly, Kellie, Katharine, Chris or Adam

Can’t believe change outranked undo it. Although i’ve noticed on here that undo it was def not the most popular carrie single. I loved it though. Meanwhile “change” is one of my least favorite carrie songs she’s ever recorded. But even then one of my least favorite carrie songs is still better than alot of other idol songs out there.

"Change" is one of my favorite non-singles from Carrie Underwood, while "Undo It" is one of her weakest singles of all-time. It's fairly unpopular on Pulse, too.

#5 - Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You - Kellie Pickler
Total Points: 40 Hot 100: #97
.indulgecountry - #1 toomuchboy - #3 castleoblivion26 - #4 dee12 - #5 fireflies - #11 bigd79 - #16
Kellie held on to the top 5 by 1 point. This is a deeply emotional song for Kellie. I wished this could have been bigger than what it was. Congrats to dee12 for a perfect ranking!

#4 - All I Ever Wanted - Kelly Clarkson
Total Points: 37 Hot 100: #96
toomuchboy - #2 castleoblivion26 - #2 bigd79 - #3 fireflies - #10 .indulgecountry - #10 dee12 - #10
This turned out to be a late album single for Kelly. It was probably sent to give a little more time for her next album. This failed to get a rank beyond 10!

#3 - Whataya Want from Me - Adam Lambert
Total Points: 37 Hot 100: #10
fireflies - #1 castleoblivion26 - #1 toomuchboy - #4 dee12 - #6 .indulgecountry - #8 bigd79 - #17
This was Adam's first big breakout hit since his time on Idol. It flew up the Hot 100 and has aged very well over time. This broke the tie with Kelly thanks to two #1's over two #2's.

#2 - Terrified - Katharine McPhee (with Jason Reeves or Zachary Levi)
Total Points: 35 Bubbling Under: #16
toomuchboy - #1 fireflies - #3 .indulgecountry - #6 bigd79 - #6 dee12 - #7 castleoblivion26 - #12
Billboard credited Jason while the music video had this as a duet with Zachary. (the guy who played the prince in "Tangled") This is a beautiful duet. I'm super glad that this was able to make it all the way to number two!
Which means that...
#1 - Life After You - Daughtry
Total Points: 28 Hot 100: #36 PLATINUM
bigd79 - #1 dee12 - #1 fireflies - #2 castleoblivion26 - #3 .indulgecountry - #5 toomuchboy - #16
Daughtry and crew score another hit with this single. Consistent singles helped keep the longevity going for Chris and his band. This is Daughtry's second win this series. The first one was "Over You". Congrats to both bigd79 and dee12 for choosing the correct winner!

Daughtry for the win you love to see it! Also…that Katharine McPhee song i had completely forgotten about so it was nice to re-discover that song.

Total Points: 83 Hot 100: #57
fireflies - #13 nathanalbright - #15 toomuchboy - #16 bigd79 - #19 dee12 - #20
Crystal sounded good on this popular cover. Just about three years prior, Kelly Clarkson sang this and made a trip to the Hot 100 at #56.

#19 - I Am Woman - Jordin Sparks
Total Points: 77 Hot 100: #82
toomuchboy - #4 bigd79 - #16 dee12 - #16 fireflies - #20 nathanalbright - #21
This song had a fairly different sound than what she normally had released as singles. This didn't do much for her. I still wished they had released "No Parade" as a third single.

#18 - Black Velvet - Crystal Bowersox
Total Points: 75 Bubbling Under: #24
toomuchboy - #8 bigd79 - #8 nathanalbright - #17 fireflies - #21 dee12 - #21
Crystal got great remarks from the judges. It's a good thing she took her time on those stairs. That could have been one nasty fall.

Our first performance from Season 9 winner, Lee, leaves us now. He is the last winner to have Simon Cowell as a judge. Congrats to fireflies for a perfect ranking!

Total Points: 69 Bubbling Under: #25
toomuchboy - #9 nathanalbright - #10 bigd79 - #14 fireflies - #18 dee12 - #18
Another Crystal performance leaves us. The judges like her vocals but think she needs to connect more. I think season 9 contestants in general needed more connection.

#15 - Everybody Hurts - Lee DeWyze
Total Points: 68 Bubbling Under: #4
bigd79 - #6 nathanalbright - #9 toomuchboy - #17 dee12 - #17 fireflies - #19
In the race to becoming the winner, Lee did get a song that was very popular and recognizable. Song choice always needs to be chosen wisely in a competition such as this.

I always found Bowersox boring, but I could never deny her singing ability, something that was sorely lacking from just about everyone else that season. I think the only people I liked that year were Casey James (who put out a great country album post-show) and, to a lesser degree, Aaron Kelly.
The verses are a little cringey on "I Am Woman," but I do love the chorus. I would've loved "No Parade" to have been a single. "Walking on Snow" was the best song of the album never released though. That should've followed "Battlefield" to give her a 1-2 punch of strong singles. Oh, well. :(

Total Points: 66 Hot 100: #83
dee12 - #11 fireflies - #12 nathanalbright - #12 toomuchboy - #13 bigd79 - #18
Chris had a very memorable and heartbreaking audition in the 10th season. This song tells that story beautifully. Here is his audition clip.

Total Points: 66 Hot 100: #64
toomuchboy - #7 dee12 - #10 fireflies - #11 nathanalbright - #18 bigd79 - #20
Jennifer won the tie over Chris thanks to a #7 ranking. This was a strong single choice. It also had a great music video, but has been deleted from existence because of R. Kelly. (oh, well)

Total Points: 63 Hot 100: #66
toomuchboy - #5 nathanalbright - #13 dee12 - #14 bigd79 - #15 fireflies - #16
I've always loved this Oscar winning song. They sound good, but I'll always prefer the Kris Allen version we ranked a little while ago. I showed this in Part 9, but since Crystal is new this series, I'll show it again. I do find it ironic that the top two were both montaged together for their auditions.

Total Points: 59 Bubbling Under: #22
nathanalbright - #7 toomuchboy - #11 bigd79 - #12 fireflies - #14 dee12 - #15
Bucky had a nice little run in the country music scene. It would have been nice if this one could have done better. Congrats to toomuchboy for a perfect ranking!
