Collectively, I think the season 7 contestants were one of the strongest. They mesh well together and did a fine job on this cover of a popular worship song! The top 8 consists of David Cook, David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook & Michael Johns.
Congrats to castleoblivion26 and toomuchboy for starting us out with perfect rankings!

The top 8 of season 7 were really great. I think the weakest were Jason Castro and Michael Johns (RIP). Kristy Lee Cook was on the lower end as well.

That being said both David's, Syesha, Brooke, and Carly were all REALLY great!

As cheesy as some of them might be, I do miss the group performances at times. This number started off an Idol Gives Back episode. Again, this top 8 features the two David's, Syesha, Jason, Brooke, Carly, Kristy & Michael!

Since 2014, we have sadly lost 4 American Idol finalists that made the top 12 or higher in their seasons.

Michael Johns, who appeared in these last two songs, was the first one to pass away. Here is just a mini-tribute before I proceed on with the results.

This is a well sung song from Lauren. Releasing hit single after hit single allowed her debut album to have very long legs. She's been around for a while now yet still feels fairly new for some reason.

I didn't know her before "You Say." "First" isn't anywhere in that song's league, but it is a nice song.

I always wished we could've got studio versions of "In This Moment" and "Dream Big." I assumed those would be their winner's songs, but then "The Time of My Life" came from nowhere? Weird.
