I just came across this great moment where Reggie Lucas' daughter found out "Never Knew Love Like This Before" (Stephanie Mills) was written by Reggie about her:
I then remembered that Reggie worked on Madonna's debut album; he wrote "Borderline" and produced a lot of the songs on the album. He also co-wrote "The Closer I Get to You." Why was this man not an even bigger writer/producer? As far as I can tell he was fairly low profile most-Madonna. That seems odd.

Hi maybe you can check this out : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Lucas . From what I observed of Reggie's portfolio, he never did quite get that big break he deserved to. For example, Madonna felt that he got far more credit than he deserved to on Borderline and Lucky Star so she never did work with him again. You may be an uber producer but the artists that you compose songs must also catch fire like what happened for Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Babyface, Jam and Lewis, and The Neptunes. At the very least, you need to have a muse like in the case of Billy Eilish for Finneas.
