Looks like this will have to settle for a #2 peak on both charts as this stayed at #2 this week despite gaining 1072 spins. The gap between this and Luke Combs was just way too large to overcome especially since Luke's song has much better sales/testing than Kenny Chesney
I am super glad this is missing #1 as despite me liking it, this song has been such a dud in terms of impact as I don't think it ever got into even the Top 300 on iTunes, the audio for this song has only 2.7 views on YouTube which is just poor and the callout wasn't even good. This song got so high due to star power/name recognition if say I don't know Niko Moon released this, this would have probably died out in the teens at highest.

Another sad fact is that this song no one cares about and is around #600 on itunes is expected to rise in the top 40 on some predictions. Ew

This one did a lot better than it should have. I’m happy it did, but realistically this one should have stalled around #10. “Drinking Alone” had bad callout scores as well, but streamed and sold much better than this and that’s where radio decided to stall that one.

An important thing to note is that "Drinking Alone" had a bit higher of a negative score on the callout than "Happy Does" (24.7 for Carrie compared to 20.2 for Kenny) and radio really pays attention to that negative score the most as anything solidly above 20 will stall out in a hurry if it does not have a planned push week and since callout scores came back during "Happy Does" push week the callout was just salvageable enough to get a Top 5 peak. Where as Carrie's callout, yeah nothing was saving that.

Interesting if this doesn't hit #1 because Kenny did a big radio tour this week and several of the hosts, including Bobby Bones, all congratulated him on this song becoming #1 this week.

Kenny Chesney has not had a #2 hit for almost thirteen years. If Happy Does indeed peak at #2, Chesney will stay at #4 on the list of those artists with the most #2s as Johnny Cash already has eleven runner up hits (at #3). Remember the last time he peaked there? Here is a chart and video: BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING MARCH 8, 2008: 1. Cleaning This Gun Come On In Boy-Rodney Atkins-Curb 2. SHIFTWORK-KENNY CHESNEY AND GEORGE STRAIT-BNA 3. Letter To Me-Brad Paisley-Arista 4. Small Town Southern Man-Alan Jackson-Arista 5. All-American Girl-Carrie Underwood-Arista 6. Watching Airplanes-Gary Allan-MCA 7. Stealing Cinderella-Chuck Wicks-RCA 8. Ready, Set, Don't Go-Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus-Walt Disney 9. What Kinda Gone-Chris Cagle-Capitol 10. You're Gonna Miss This-Trace Adkins-Capitol

I see that Kenny Chesney took a little tumble at MediaBase. Sometime next week, I will be updating the #2s thread. It will look like this:
From:
4. Kenny Chesney-10-1996-2008
To:
4. Kenny Chesney-11-1996-2021

Both hit #3 on Billboard but #2 peaks on Mediabase.

It was “Ain’t Back Yet” I was thinking of, I specifically remember “You & Tequila” missing the top 2 because it’s one of the few singles I like from Kenny haha

If you're only counting Kenny's solo songs, his last runner-up tune was "Who'd You Be Today, which peaked at #2 for four weeks in November and December of 2005. It was blocked out of the top spot by Keith Urban's "Better Life" and "Come A Little Closer" by Dierks Bentley.

Man you can tell country radio was done with this song once it peaked as this has lost 2678 spins since Sunday with 2 more days left in the Mediabase week. Definitely look for this week to be "Happy Does" last week on Billboard's chart and a good chance it is out of the Top 10 on both charts.
