Is anyone getting tired of hearing trap drums and snares in many popular songs? I feel like we've been hearing so much of the sound since the early 2010s and I feel like we need something fresh in the music landscape. We are in a new decade now and the music industry must find something new to create an identity for this decade.

Yes, definitely, but I've never been a big fan of rap and trap is all of the worst parts of rap melded into one genre. It's one thing when it's isolated in its own bubble, but when it starts popping up in songs that are otherwise non-rap, it gets very, very annoying.

Peak trap was 2014-2017. Days Before Rodeo & Rodeo, DS2, Barter 6, Luv is Rage 1 and 2, Without Warning, Culture all fire af and unique albums with their own sound. s**t fell off hard though the last couple of years, most recent trap projects are just getting boring and repetitive. Too many tracks which all basically sound the same, plus it's always the same 4 or 5 artists featured (Future, Travis, Gunna, etc). I miss the atmospheric s**t

Once Billie Eilish, Lil Pump, Ariana Grande, Blueface, 6ix9ine, etc. started using trap in their songs, it became fucking oversaturated. Also emo/sad pop is way more oversaturated than trap. At least trap can be somewhat enjoyable. Who the fuck enjoys sad songs / emo songs?

Who the f**k enjoys sad songs / emo songs?a lot of people lmao, what are you talking about?? anyways, yeah its becoming oversaturated. the way its used in pop is so boring aside from a few artists like billie & post malone. i'd say if it was just used in rap it would still be fairly oversaturated, the only variety we're getting on the charts is a kendrick song every few years or the odd tyler, brockhampton hit. with that said, i don't necessarily mind that it's oversaturated right now. it's a lot better than crunk, ringtone rap that was huge in the 2000s.

I completely don’t see the appeal of emo pop. Also Billie is uninteresting af. At least with ringtone rap, you can dance to it and have some fun. Modern emo pop is just way too dark and melancholic.
