And for the last reveal of the day, yet another song from Spellbound album. This song was released as the fifth and final single from her 1992 album Spellbound. The ballad was released right as Abdul became engaged and married to Emilio Estevez. They married in California on April 29, 1992 but then divorced two years later in May 1994. Stevie Wonder made a special guest appearance on the track playing the harmonica. The song hit #19 on HOT 100. It did much better in Canada, reaching #6.# 14Will You Marry Me? At number 18 we have the last Paula Abdul single! And that was 11 years ago! This was one of 2 stand alone singles. The track was produced by Oliver Leiber, who helped to create Paula's debut album Forever Your Girl. The song sampled Indeep's 1982 single "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life". The song hit #87 on HOT 100. A top 3 placement is lost and another top 10.# 18I'm Just Here For The Music Points: 151 One perfect ranking for this song 18? EIGHTEEN?

20. Straight Up (Ultimix) (16): Definitely one of my favorite remixes of the SU&D album, as it highlights the stronger parts of the original. 19. Ho-Down (17): This was a nice discovery. Fun, catchy, with nice background vocals. It seems that J Lo's Do It Well was VERY much inspired by this, from the talk-singing verses to the mention of the do-si-do (?!) 18. I'm Just Here For The Music (22): I think this hasn't aged that well. I liked it enough back then, although the melody was never that strong to me. Now, the autotune has taken it several notches down. 17. U (23): I like the production, with the electric guitar and piano sounds that remind me of C+C Music Factory stuff. I wish the melody were stronger, though 16. Spellbound (24): Again, interesting production, but the melody didn't fully convince me.

At number 13 we have a single that was recorded for Randy Jackson's album Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1. It was her 1st single after 12 years when it was released in 2008. The song went as high as #62 on HOT 100. It hit #2 on Hot Club songs and danced its way to #62 on Canadian chart. We lose #1 with this reveal. At number 12 we have a song that was released as second single from Head Over Heels album. The single proved unsuccessful for Abdul. It failed to make the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 (reaching #58), but proved to be a success in clubs, becoming a hit on the dance charts. The single also found significant success in Canada where it peaked at #49 and it remained on the charts for 15 weeks. It hit #89 in Germany. MTV refused to play original video! # 12Crazy Cool Points: 182

Blowing Kisses in the Wind was the third single from Paula Abdul's album Spellbound. The music video featured Abdul dancing on a theater stage, ballet-style. Like her other videos it got strong play on MTV. The song was another popular hit for Abdul, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 where it stayed for 3 weeks (7 weeks inside top 10) and seven in Canada. It hit #5 at Adult pop charts. My number 1 goes with this one :/ # 11Blowing kisses in the Wind Points: 188 No perfect rankings for this song

And we hit the top 10! My Love Is for Real is a song by Paula Abdul with featured vocals from Israeli singer Ofra Haza. It was released as the first single from Abdul's third studio album, Head over Heels. Intended as Abdul's comeback single, My Love Is for Real reached number one in Hungary and the top 20 in Australia (#7), Canada (#20) and New Zealand (#20), but it stalled outside the top 20 in the United States, peaking at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, and failed to make a major impact in Europe. The single's B-side is the mid-tempo song Didn't I Say I Love You. It hit #1 on Billboard Dance Club songs. This is 1st song with over 200 points. # 10My Love is for Real Points: 213 No perfect rankings for this song

Vibeology was the fourth single released worldwide from Paula Abdul's Spellbound album. It was released as the third single from the album in Australia and the UK, and as the fourth single in North America. "Vibeology" was first released as a single in November 1991 in Australia, followed by a European and North American release in January 1992. "Vibeology" peaked at number 63 in Australia in December 1991 and at number 19 in the UK in January 1992. The single reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1992, becoming Abdul's first single to peak outside the top 10 in the US since the original release of "(It's Just) The Way That You Love Me" in 1988. It achieved a similar level of success on the Billboard dance chart. The song has 2 versions for the video. # 9Vibeology Points: 216 No perfect rankings for this song

15. Rock House (10): My second favorite discovery in this RD. Really liked the production and melody. Very nice beat and music with cool bits of electric guitar, 90s piano chords. The best rock-tinged song of this RD for sure :) Should've been a single. And by the way, it seems I this had THREE top 10s in this RD not one 14. Will You Marry Me? (18): A pretty but simple ballad, that I wasn't that big of a fan of back in 1992, but I grew to like it better with time. 13. Dance Like There's No Tomorrow (15): I really liked this comeback. I thought it had strong lush production, good melody, nice vibe, that I thought could've been a minor pop hit. It mae my personal top 10. 12. Crazy Cool (21): This was ok, but a letdown after the uniqueness of MLIFR. This didn't make my personal chart. 11. Blowing kisses in the Wind (6): This barely made my personal top 25, as I was more into other genres at that time. However, I grew to like it much more with time. As my ranking shows, I've grown to appreciate the musicality, production, vocals, and overall vibe. A highlight of her career.

We are saying goodbye to the very first song from Forever your Girl album! Knocked Out is the debut single by American singer Paula Abdul, released on May 4, 1988. It was the first song from her first album, Forever Your Girl, consisting of a pop/R&B sound. The song was originally included on a Virgin Records sampler for the launch of Virgin Records America. In spring 1988, it was released as a single to test Abdul's commercial appeal. "Knocked Out" proved to be very successful for a low budget single; it became a top 10 R&B hit.
In the UK, "Knocked Out" was released three times. It was Abdul's first single and charted on September 24, 1988, peaking at a lowly #98. Following the success of "Straight Up" and its follow-up, "Forever Your Girl", "Knocked Out" was reissued and peaked at #41 on 19 August 1989. Finally, after the huge success of "Opposites Attract" in 1990, the single was extensively reworked by Shep Pettibone and it entered the UK Top 30, peaking at #21 on July 28, 1990.
The remixed version of "Knocked Out" which was released in the UK as well as Germany was from the Shut Up and Dance remix album. While this version was not issued as a single in the United States, it did receive significant airplay and just missed the American Top 40, peaking at #41. # 8 Knocked Out Points: 265

The 1st single from Spellbound album is next. Rush Rush debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #36 on May 11, 1991, and hit #1 five weeks later, June 15, 1991, where it remained for five consecutive weeks. At the time of its five-week stint, it was the longest running #1 since Madonna's Like a Virgin. The song also spent five weeks atop the U.S. adult contemporary chart. It peaked at #6 on the UK Singles Chart. The video reimagines the 1955 James Dean/Natalie Wood film Rebel Without a Cause, including iconic location shots at Griffith Observatory, a black 1949 Mercury, and a climactic street race. With Keanu Reeves filling James Dean's role of Jim, opposite Abdul as Judy, several scenes from the movie are duplicated shot-for-shot. The video was directed by Stefan WΓΌrnitzer in April 1991 and produced by Karen Rohrbacher for Lucasfilm Commercial Productions. The British Top of the Pops aired an alternate version of the video, re-edited to contain more "performance shots" and less story. Many more shots of Paula dancing in the orange dress were present.
The song is ranked as the 16th most successful song of the 1990s in the United States. # 7

I am a bit surprised that the 2nd single from Spellbound is higher here than the lead single! The Promise of a New Day" debuted at number 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, the week ending July 20, 1991, claiming the spot of Hot Shot Debut. The following week, the single climbed to number 26, with this week claiming the Greatest Airplay Gainer. The song reaches No. 1 on the chart on September 14, 1991 and ended the reign of Bryan Adams' long-running No. 1 hit, "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)." The following week, it fell to No. 5, and departed the Top 40 only four weeks later. It was Abdul's sixth chart-topping single, and her last No. 1 single to date. The song hit #2 in Canada. The video, directed by Big TV! (Andy Delaney and Monty Whitebloom) was shot during the week of July 8, 1991. Filming took place in two different locations with backgrounds for the video being shot in Hawaii, with Abdul and her backup dancers being filmed separately on a sound stage and later composited through blue screen. Abdul was unable to attend filming in Hawaii due to prior commitments.
When released, the video garnered controversy due to its post-work, which was edited and elongated in order to make Abdul appear thinner and taller than she actually was. For this, Abdul was criticized and ridiculed in the media and the video would end up becoming parodied. # 6The Promise of a New Day Points: 281

And.... here we are in the top 5! This song is just ONE point ahead of #6! It is the last single from Forever Your Girl album.Β Vocals on the song, in addition to Abdul, were provided by Bruce DeShazer and Marv Gunn, also known as The Wild Pair. "Opposites Attract" was the sixth and final single from the album, and achieved success in many countries, including the United States, Canada and Australia, where it was a number-one hit.Β Opposites Attract became one of the most popular R&B and dance-pop singles of 1990. The single initially rose from number 72 to number 47 the week of December 23, 1989, and landed at number one the week of February 10, 1990, where it remained for three weeks, matching the run of "Straight Up". It became Abdul's fourth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and made her only the fourth artist in music history to score four number-one hits from a single album, after Whitney Houston, George Michael and Michael Jackson. (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Usher and Katy Perry would later duplicate the feat.) "Opposites Attract" also topped the charts in Australia and Canada and peaked at number two in the United Kingdom.# 5 Opposites Attract Points: 282

And the last reveal of the day before the top 3 tomorrow! This song has only ONE point less than the song at #3! Forever Your Girl is a song recorded by American singer-choreographer Paula Abdul for her 1988 eponymous debut studio album. Written and produced by Oliver Leiber, whom also produced her previous single "(It's Just) The Way that You Love Me", the single version was released on February 20, 1989 as the fourth single by Virgin Records. Following the unexpected success of "Straight Up", the song continued Abdul's newfound commercial success, becoming her second chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks and further fueled its parental album to reach the top-ten on the Billboard 200 chart.
Forever Your Girl spent two weeks at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 in May 1989, reached number 28 on the Dance Club Songs chart, and number eleven on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song was part of a medley Abdul sang at the 1989 MTV Music Video Awards. The song hit #1 in Canada too.# 4Forever Your Girl Points: 286

First of let me say...the fact that Promise Of A New day is higher than Rush Rush is appaling. Rush Rush is a classic and was huge!!!! I'm appalled.
I'm shocked that The Way You Love Me is even in the top 3. Number one will probably he straight up since it's her well known song and cold hearted (my fav) will be #2.
Just shocked that POAND is higher than Rush Rush...π€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈπ€¦πΎββοΈ

Surprised "Way That You Love me" beat out FYG and OA.
By the by- some of the lesser-successful singles did see better success elsewhere. For instance, "Crazy Cool" nearly made the top 20 at pop radio, and "My Love Is For Real" made top 15. :) Though those still were not close to the success of the other singles.
