According to spicy's and cedric's predictions it looks like Circles may have entered the top 10 for a 40th week if it wasn't for the Juice album bomb. Airplay is truly carrying this. 💀 Then again, how is it looking with regards to it’s streams.

Your assessment of Billboard is exaggerated and even inaccurate in some cases. For starters, airplay wasn't the only thing measured from 2001-2005, physical sales were as well, they were just really low, and pop songs did enter the top 10, just not as frequently because R&B/Hip-Hop was just overall much more popular on radio back then. Sure there were rare cases like “Beautiful” peaking at #2 or “Toxic” peaking at #9, but some would argue those peaks were low for how big of hits those songs were (“Bump Bump Bump” at #1?). Other metrics should’ve been added on the Hot 100 back then. Why did Billboard completely ignore counting music videos back then? B2K’s “Bump, Bump, Bump” deservedly hit #1 on the Hot 100 over “Beautiful” at the time, thus this narrative that the song somehow unfairly out-peaked a “stronger” song is false. “Bump, Bump, Bump”. •Rhythmic #1 •Urban #2 •Pop #3 =111M AI Peak “Beautiful”. •Pop #1 •Rhythmic #13 •HAC #19 =95M AI Peak Now, let’s take a look at recurrent streams in 2020. YouTube. •Beautiful: 122M •Bump, Bump, Bump: 107M “Beautiful” has more streams on Spotify, but that’s largely due to heavy playlisting which B2K’s music is practically non-existent for on the service, and given they disbanded as a group in 2004.

Album | Artist | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Carter V | Lil Wayne | 49,469,116 | 30,039,134 | 19,224,681 | 21,322,277 | 18,209,086 | 15,989,633 | 14,141,864 | Legends Never Die | Juice WRLD | 47,849,132 | 30,786,059 | 23,133,726 | 22,473,754 | - | - | - |
124,242,671 US streams from Spotify in 4 days. If it holds steady at 22,500,000 for the next 3 days, that'll bring it to 191,742,671 US streams from Spotify alone for the week. If it pulls 200 million streams from Apple Music, that's just under 400 million streams from two streaming services. It should surpass Tha Carter V's record, but I keep feeling like it'll miss it by just a tiny bit. I hope I'm wrong. Welp. Tha Carter V: 433 million streams. Legends Never Die: 422 million streams.

with Falling at #1 on Top 40 radio and #33 in my prediction for this week's Hot 100, it might break a few "records".
#1 on Top 40 with a #17 peak on the Hot 100 #1 on Top 40 with a #33 rank on the Hot 100 #1 on Top 40 with a #13 rank on Radio Songs #1 on Top 40 with 96% of its audience coming from that format

“Beautiful” needed only 8,000 copies sold of a physical single for it to have hit #1 the week it was #2. Shame they didn’t release one in the U.S. Since the Britney fans are in here are claiming “I’m a Slave 4 U” would’ve hit #1 if YouTube existed, you know damn well “Dirrty” would’ve hit #1 for several weeks, since it had more airplay and the video was more controversial. In their defense pop wasn't that hot at the time. They had an uphill battle on the charts and the labels weren't exploiting the chart rules in the way we're now getting used to. Britney in particular got blacklisted on radio during the album cycle for "Slave". She didn't have downloads during "Toxic" because they were not counted on the Hot 100 at that point, even if the song apparently sold well. As for Xtina, I'm always shocked at how low Dirrty peaked. Big pop culture moment. The rest of the era's peaks make a lot more sense. Beautiful felt like a #1 hit, shame there was no physical release to help it.

Yes, I absolutely agree that Bump, Bump, Bump deserved #1 at the time because it simply had more airplay and overall points, but in terms of ensuing popularity and cultural prominence throughout time, to me at least it seems that there can be no question that Beautiful is absolutely the more memorable song (though if anyone disagrees feel free...). That is why those YouTube numbers are especially shocking. I'd be interested in seeing overall streaming numbers, as well as digital sales and recurrent airplay.

^ Diddy was on the original, I don't think there was a remix (an interesting side note, R. Kelly co-wrote and co-produced the song).

I wonder something, why doesn’t Taylor Swift’s “The Man” have an explicit tag next to it on Spotify even though it has more cuss words than “Greece” and “Codeine Dreaming” (Both have explicit tags)?

B2K’s “Bump, Bump, Bump” deservedly hit #1 on the Hot 100 over “Beautiful” at the time, thus this narrative that the song somehow unfairly out-peaked a “stronger” song is false. “Bump, Bump, Bump”. •Rhythmic #1 •Urban #2 •Pop #3 =111M AI Peak “Beautiful”. •Pop #1 •Rhythmic #13 •HAC #19 =95M AI Peak Now, let’s take a look at recurrent streams in 2020. •Beautiful: 122M •Bump, Bump, Bump: 107M “Beautiful” has more streams on Spotify, but that’s largely due to heavy playlisting which B2K’s music is practically non-existent for on the service, and given they disbanded as a group in 2004. That is why those YouTube numbers are especially shocking. I'd be interested in seeing overall streaming numbers, as well as digital sales and recurrent airplay. Spotify WW (as of July 2020). •Bump, Bump, Bump: 102.8M •Beautiful: 174.2M Digital Downloads/Sales WW (as of December 2018). •Bump, Bump, Bump: 1.2M •Beautiful: 2.5M “Beautiful”, of course, is the more culturally impactful song but the stats. between it and “Bump, Bump, Bump” are nowhere near as vast as most people would presume. “Beautiful” has more Spotify streams due to heavier playlisting, particularly in ‘throwback’ playlists, whereas “Bump, Bump, Bump” has virtually none and yet the latter still has over 100M streams. Also, “Bump, Bump, Bump” still garners a lot of recurrent Airplay on Urban stations in some markets, even in 2020. “Beautiful” was certainly a big hit, but many like to assume that the song that blocked it in the U.S (which was also a big hit) is ‘supremely forgotten’ which, literally, is not the case at all.

We are talking about Thriller, a Halloween song, in July? Never change, Pulse... Not bad for a song released in January and peaked in March, if I’m not mistaken. When is Hallowe’en again?
