Taylor Swift, new album, midnight! Kanye vs. Taylor all week? That's if Kanye releases lol. Taylor's album, folklore, has a Bon Iver feature, 8 special edition disks that are only available her online store and have an additional track.

If he releases it will be a mess I- but if he does, I don't think any party will want to feed any "chart battle" or whatever, also bc he'd obviously lose on the album front.

Cole, Taylor and maybe Kanye? Oh... there is a mini Logic album bomb too... at this point, declining songs will go ~20-Recurrent next week.

(this isn't me saying there will be a hit single off of this album. just reminding that we literally haven't heard anything from it.) Taylor Swift from 2010-2014 [5 years]: 3 albums. Taylor Swift from 2017-2020 [4 years]: 3 albums. I get the point you're trying to make but this really doesn't look as sensational as you thought it would lol

It sounds like it'll be a folk-inspired album based on it's name, it's aesthetic and the collaborators she has revealed. How many folk smash hits do you know? I actually think this is a nice idea. Dropping an album without the expectations of trying to score any hits. I don't get the vibe that she's aiming to score any hits with the release of this album. The album will debut at #1 easily and that's a win for her. I'm quite excited to hear it. And I didn't make that post about her albums to come off as "sensational" or whatever you imagined in your head before writing that.

The Taylor album definitely seems more like a mixtape/side project lol. The genre, the surprise release, etc.

Taylor's album will debut at #1 with huge numbers, but I don't see it as an album bomb on the Hot 100.
cardigan will probably debut in the top 10 with one or two songs in the top 40 (only talking for the top 40).
Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see it.

Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see it. I hope it does well enough on streaming for all the songs to debut on the Hot 100. That would take her well over the 100 mark and would make her the second female act to achieve that.

Itll be interesting to see, especially with the sound change, how the GP will react. The fans will eat it up enough for the songs to chart.

And I didn't make that post about her albums to come off as "sensational" or whatever you imagined in your head before writing that. Depending on what the song ("Cardigan") sounds like, whether it's sent to radio, and whether the album gets love from the critics, I don't see a point in counting her out completely. You do realize folk is a very broad genre, and she's still working with Jack Antonoff for example, the one she made "Out of the Woods," "Getaway Car," "Death by a Thousand Cuts," and "The Archer" with. Taylor's career has been built off of folk, and there is definitely a market for it. "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers, "Riptide" by Vance Joy, "Let Her Go" by Mumford & Sons, "Budapest" by George Ezra, "The A Team" and "Castle on the Hill" by Ed Sheeran, "Slow Hands" by Niall Horran, and "Shallow" by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper are among decent sized folk hits, and Taylor is a way more established artist than they were when they released these songs aside from Gaga, obviously. It isn't a common genre at the top of the charts, but it's not never done like you claim it to be.

The #1 debut on the Billboard 200 is in the bag already based off the bundles she has available. Only thing that's left to see is how well it does on streaming. All my favorite folk music bands aren't big enough to do any sort of damage on any charts so I'm very curious to see how the songs off folk-inspired album (if that's what folklore really is) by someone as huge as Taylor does.

Do we know if Kanye is still releasing though? If he is not, there's not much next week - J. Cole yes but those songs are already out and might debut this week.

That's the vibe I'm getting with the way she's releasing the album. I think it would be great if something from the album sticks, but for some reason, I just don't believe that will happen. Not that it matters either way. I love acoustic Taylor so I'm really excited about the hearing the album. I especially can't wait to hear what the song with Bon Iver sounds like.
