I remember checking out of pop music in 2016 because of how bad it was. We'll see if my opinions change with a full listen and 20/20 hindsight (pun intended), but looking at that Year-End list, I doubt it.

oh yeah i have to say that 2016 was the year that i started getting into a lot of music and actually seeking songs out, so the ones i like on here are the ones i feel extremely nostalgic for.

11 | Sia f/ Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills 15 | Mike Posner - I Took a Pill in Ibiza 48 | Kent Jones - Don't Mind 60 | Flume f/ Kai - Never Be Like You 68 | Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, and Imagine Dragons with Logic and Ty Dolla $ign f/ X Ambassadors - Sucker for Pain 76 | Ruth B - Lost Boy 87 | Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and Jay Z f/ French Montana and Infrared - All the Way Up
Fuck me this was such a weird year like who asked for Imagine Dragons and X Ambassadors to make a song with Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa lmaoooo Fat Joe of all people had a hit in the same year as Flume, we let old mate Kent Jones (who i'm 90% sure doesn't exist) have a top 10 hit, Mike Posner and Sean Paul turned up out of nowhere to drop some of the biggest songs of the year and an actual Peter Pan fanfic make the top 100 songs of the year I'm still not fully convinced this year actually happened, this list makes me so confused

Also we haven't responded to any lists but we most likely do have them in our inboxes (which it will be unless you sent them to the wrong people or only sent it to one of us) - probably will reply once we start inserting lists (idk what Red usually does for those though) so we appreciate your patience, thank you!

Sent. A few of these songs have grown on me a lot since they came out, but the opposite is true for most. Also, On My Mind by Ellie Goulding was ahead of its time.

I'll definitely join this Rankdown given the fact that the original Rankdown happened when I made my Pulse account!

I'm halfway through the Year-End list, and yeah, this year hasn't been impressive. Of the 50 songs I've listened to so far, I'd only call 11 of them good or great, and while there have been years with more outright bad music, so much of this year has been utterly mediocre (20 of the 50 songs have been a 2/5).

- This is the first in a series of Hot 100 rankdown re-dos that I've been looking at completing for a while now. 2016 will be first, followed by 2014, and then 2011. I'm not just going in reverse chronological order, I'm going in, I believe, the order these rankdowns were completed, though they were all completed near the same time. Has anyone considered redoing 2010 and 2013? Those look like they could use a redo. "Need You Now" ain't winning so, no.

I've now officially gone through the entire Year-End list for 2016, and yeah, this wasn't a good year. Of the 100 songs on the Year-End list, only 26 scored a 4/5 or above, six of which were repeats from 2015. The 86 songs that debuted on the Year-End list for 2016 got a combined score of 229/430, or 53.3/100, the lowest score I have ever given to any year (the highest so far is 1983, which got a 78.8/100). I think it's safe to say that I made the right call checking out of popular music in 2016, because this year was pretty lame.

#1: 4.5/5 #2-3: 4/5 #4-20: 3.5/5 #21-40: 3/5 #41-61: 2.5/5 #62-79: 2/5 #80-88: 1.5/5 #89-96: 1/5 #97-100: 0.5/5
2016 was actually an excellent, fun-filled year for me... however, musically speaking, this list was way worse than how I recalled it. There are some songs in my top 20-30 that people who know me might not expect me to boost... heck, I even have some surprising stuff in my top 10. But still, the bottom of this list is filled with some of the most vile and dreadful pop hits of the 2010s.

I turned in my list the other day, and here's how it turned out. #1-15: Great #16-27: Good #28-#52: Decent #53-#85: Mediocre #86-#97: Bad #98-#100: Terrible My #1 is super predictable, and my #100 isn't too far out there either.

My list will be in tomorrow, let's see how strict Red is with the formatting. Okay, so let's talk about this really quick.
If you make one or two changes, and they don't severely impact things, I'm probably not going to ask you to resubmit. We'll make the changes needed, they'll take about a minute, and we'll move on. I will ask you to resubmit, however, when the formatting has been changed dramatically. For example, you could change every instance of "f/" in the formatted list to "ft." This may not seem like that big of a problem, except I split text into columns on my spreadsheet, and, normally, people send their lists like this:
"1. Artist f/ Artist - Song 2. Artist f/ Artist - Song 3. Artist f/ Artist - Song"
If I split text with periods, and you submit like this:
"1. Artist ft. Artist - Song 2. Artist ft. Artist and Artist - Song 3. Artist ft. Artist - Song"
This is what happens:
"1 Artist ft (column break) Artist - Song 2 Artist ft (column break) Artist and Artist - Song 3 Artist ft (column break) Artist - Song"
Now, keep in mind that at least half of the damn list has features, and you can see why this would be a bit of a nuisance for me and fearless to deal with, and why, especially after 2002, I'm requiring people to submit songs as they are formatted in the first post.
I'm not asking for too much, right? All you have to do is C&P from the OP and rank the songs from the formatted list. That's it.
(By the way, there's a real chance that I'm going to be extending the deadline by a week or so, which is why I haven't done any reminders just yet. They are coming, don't worry!)
