I'm excited to give this a listen and hope the songs are in the same vain as Safe and Sound. Back before Taylor went pop and I didn't really care for her overall, Safe and Sound was the first song of hers that I really enjoyed outside of a radio context (I liked You Belong With Me and Love Story, but I didn't care). Folk and folk-pop music is probably actually my favourite genre so I kind of have high hopes for this after Taylor officially won be over with Lover.
The only downside of this is that I won't get to place a focus on further album tracks from Lover on my personal chart. I was hoping to send Cornelia Street to my top 10 but I'll have to settle on hoping this new album is up my alley.

The “in the weeds” cover caught me off guard and I CACKLED. Popping up to destroy all the other pop girls in 2020.

And on Monday I was thinking Taylor wants to get back to 'even' number release dates.

I am experiencing so much anxiety about this may sound like
In the day and age where every single album releases 3 or 4 songs prior to the release of the album it is absolutely exhilarating for Taylor to drop this on us with no sign of what we may be in for

Now, half or more of the album era and campaign is done before the album itself even comes out. The rest comes within just months after release. 3 of Lover's 4 singles came before the album - and that's the norm. I think what we'll be looking at is a possible album bomb (depending on how the songs are received. Folk is less likely to impact than pop would), and then maybe one primary single. I'm guessing the album's shelf life will be relatively short since Taylor won't be able to tour for it anyway. We might only be looking at one actual traditional single from this.

If I was a stan I’d buy all 16 versions and not think twice. I’d kill for one of my favs to do the same.

Yes, I doubt the album will have more than 2 singles to be honest. But she seems to be focusing more on the actual album than individual tracks. I still think the singles could do a great showing if the album is well received. There are still cases of insanely popular post-album singles like "Watermelon Sugar" and "Break My Heart".

Wow, I woke up just now and I wake up to this 2020, so far an a amazing year for music
Still a terrible year for everything else sadly even though it potentially could have been my favorite if this virus didn't ruin everything good that was going on.
Anyways, wow I'm surprised and I cannot wait to listen to this

Honestly, this is what she probably needs to do. Once she turned full pop, I never got the hype. She doesn’t do pop extremely well on a consistent basis. There’s too many pop acts out there doing it better than her to continuously be rewarded for mediocre pop. But I think a more folk avenue is where she will shine. I’ve always said her strength was in storytelling. So, I’m not Swiftie or even a fan. But I am curious to listen to this.

Hopefully cardigan can get a number 1 debut, but I doubt it if it’s not a good pop song. I don’t know exactly how strong Rockstar is at the moment either but I hope she can sneak in at number 1 just for one week

What a smart mercenary idea to put out 8 different editions of the album cause she knows the stans will buy all 8 at once. HUGE.

Can somebody help me out with figuring this out because I'm confused.
On the website, I see the eight deluxe CDs/vinyls right? Well, the website seems to have the "in the trees" version as its own version, while the other 7 are the ones the website says are only available for a week. The website says all 8 vinyls will be gone after July 30, but the "in the trees" CD does NOT have that disclaimer placed onto it. Which is unlike the other 7 CDs. Is the "in the trees" CD still going to be available after July 30?!

I don't have quite as much money to be able to get the CD just yet (let alone all 16 CD/vinyl editions LOL--but I would) because college starts back up in a month and I need to save for books so I'm so relieved I'll still get a chance to buy it later on.

for what it's worth I'm not expecting Taylor to go full folk. I think this will probably be pop music with a folk tinge ( which is fine with me, granted won't complain if it's full on folk music either)
