Ain’t that just like me And my selective memory.
To forget about the hurt, the tears and the lies. Forget slammin’ doors and a hundred goodbyes. I miss you like crazy. Make no mistake, The bad was bad, baby, But the good was great.

We kick things off with "The Good Was Great", which as you can see was last place for the entire submission process... Y'all got it wrong, that's all I'm going to say about that... Actually that's not all I'm going to say. What the hell!!! This song is amazing! The "forget about the hurt, the tears and the lies" chorus melody is sooooooooo much more memorable than any singular moment of "Smile", "Flowers In Snow", and maybe even "Beautiful and Broken". I am baffled. Although tbh these Terri rankdowns are always a hot mess, so why should this one be any different?

Another season fading, Nothin’ new to show. We squander our love, And still wonder why it won’t grow. We’re planting flowers in snow.

Believe it or not, "Flowers In Snow" is easily my least favorite song of Terri's entire career. Like, I hate it soooooo much. The melody plods and plods and plods some more, and the way she sings the "we squander our love" line makes me cringe every time.
This is NOT going to be in the album tracks rankdown. I'm telling y'all that now, lmao. I was ready to cancel the whole album series during the brief moment when y'all tried to give this boring drivel a top 5 finish...

"Beautiful And Broken" is the first song that I feel justifiably falls victim to how strong of an album this is. This one has a very calming vibe to it, and it is very easy to listen to. That being said, it doesn't hit nearly as hard as most of the songs on this album do, so it is hard to see it as a standout. However, ClevelandRox and taylor is terrified both found room for this in their top 2, which gave it enough cushion to at least survive the bottom 2! It seemed likely to finish at #9 when y'all were dicking around trying to get "Flowers In Snow" into the top 5 at the beginning of the submission process.....

"Lonesome's Last Call" had a pretty rough fall from grace in this rankdown! It started out as a #1 contender thanks to Kanenrá:ke and tim's lists coming back-to-back. But unfortunately it plummeted pretty quickly from that point, as a last place rolled in from someguy and then a handful of bottom 3s followed suit. This one is such a stone-cold classic country song stylistically, which gives it a lot of charm and helps it to stand out on this album, love it or hate it! The steel guitar and fiddle!!!! Terri has always done a pretty great job of keeping it country, and I love her even more for it. Like how cool is it that she would still write, record, and release a song like this at a time when the genre had pretty much completely abandoned its roots and was about to go down the road towards bro country? She's one of the real ones Despite the fact that this song is memorable, it is not one that I ever really feel like revisiting for some reason, hence my #8 rank for it. I do still love it though!!! It has been nice revisiting it for this rankdown!

I was happy until Lonesome's Last Call. Not the most memorable song, but still has a great delivery and production. I agree with bboat11 that Flowers In Snow is close to the bottom of her career. I found the title to be interesting, and the song could have been something unique, but they just made it so boring...

Literally what the actual fuq at "Flowers in Snow" not being last. It and "Smile" are horrible, but I can at least kinda see some value in "Smile" given the subject matter so I already knew it would be polarizing. However, I thought "Flowers" would be a runaway last place, for reasons outlined by bboat11. This is by no means one of her strongest albums or anything, but for there to be multiple top 5 ranks for that?! I am absolutely dumbfounded. Like I would've bet money that maybe a few #7s would be the highest ranks for "Flowers," lol.

“The Good Was Great” leaving first does come as a bit of a surprise, but considering I placed it in the bottom 2 I suppose I shouldn’t be. Don’t get me wrong, the chorus is solid but that just isn’t enough to make up for the songs shortcomings. Those shortcomings come in small fragments placed throughout the song such as the odd pacing/instrumentation during the verses. I also wasn’t really a fan of the background vocals at certain moments during the song. Anyways, suffice it to say that if this had a better melody I might’ve liked the song more. Oh wow, I just noticed that Kristen Hall is listed as a co-writer of “Flowers in Snow”…I had no idea! I don’t think this is as bad of a song as some of y’all are making it out to be, but I can see why it isn’t a favorite. I was somewhere in the middle on this hence why it landed just outside of my bottom 3 songs. And there’s Kristen Hall again as a co-writer on “Beautiful and Broken”. I have to agree that this song is an example of how strong the album is overall as it seems it garnered quite a bit of support, but just not quite enough for it to escape the bottom 3. I enjoy this one from a lyrical standpoint as well and love the “Drink it down like a good red wine” line. Of course “Lonesome’s Last Call” would get done dirty here (tsk, tsk ClevelandRox and taylor is terrified!). Terri has always excelled at these kind of songs and you can tell she enjoys them as well.

As for what will miss the top 5, I can only guess that "Smile" will be the one to exit as it's likely to be on the polarizing side. I can't help but to think that either you like this song or you don't. I'd personally rather see "We’re Here For A Good Time" leave first, but that's probably wishful thinking. Here are my predictions:
6. Smile 5. We’re Here For A Good Time 4. Breakin’ Up Thing 3. Wrecking Ball 2. The One 1. Northern Girl

"Smile" is 100% the odd one out among those that remain from a quality standpoint. Appreciate the sentiment, but god what an absolutely AWFUL melody. Putrid.

I'm meeting some friends in about 45 minutes for dinner, so I don't have time to finish this in one push... But I can at least do a couple more reveals (and then maybe come back to finish the rest later!) Every song from this point forward has #1 ranks ;)

Unfortunately for me, tim's hopes came true! "We're Here For A Good Time" is one of the songs carrying this album in the eyes of the general public, as it was a top 10 hit in Canada, and is the only song from the album to land on the Canadian Hot 100. I can understand why this one would be polarizing, but it has such a catchy melody to me! I love this one so much because sonically it hearkens more closely to the days of songs like "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" than anything else she had released pretty much since her U.S. career ended, right down to the use of cowbell and guiro!!! I have always felt that the sunny pep of this song was sorely needed at this point in her career after the Long Way Home album was a bit of a melancholy departure from her usual sound.

"Wrecking Ball" was the softest hit on the album, peaking at #29 while the other three were all in or just outside of the top 10. It was also the first single to leave in the singles rankdown, finishing in the bottom 10 at #44.
Despite all that, I think this song is a JAM!!!! The melody and guitar-heavy arrangement allows all of Terri's signature personality to be on full display. She is just the perfect vocalist for songs like this. To me the fact that it isn't better regarded is just a testament to how incredible her music usually is.

I've always liked Terri's version of "We're Here For A Good Time". It was a bold move for her to take on a 70s rock classic and release it as a single, but I thought that she did a really great job of it.

Well, how about that?! I certainly thought that "We're Here For A Good Time" would get enough support to put it into the top 5. Needless to say, I’m glad that wasn’t the case hehe. My main complaint with the song is the vocal arrangement. I don’t know what exactly they did to tweak with her voice on it, but I’ve just never been able to get past that.
“Wrecking Ball” is such a jam and I was a bit surprised by its lackluster in Terri’s singles rankdown. Terri’s energy always really shines and comes through on songs such as this one.
Yes @ “Smile” in the top 4! It certainly has exceeded my expectations. I'm still prepared for it to be the first song out though lol.

Oh wow I thought "Smile" would do horribly but I'm very happy to see it make the top 4! I love it! But I also love "Flowers In The Snow". I hear the melody complaints but they don't bug me at all...meanwhile "The Good Was Great" is one of her weakest for me from her entire career lol I actually tend to forget about it. I'm a little surprised "Lonesome's Last Call" didn't do better here but otherwise this is the perfect top 4

I want you to smile, and know you’re not alone. Dry those little eyes. I’ll be there when you come home. I’m always in your heart, even when we are apart. It’s only for awhile, So I want you to smile.

Welp, I'm more than happy to be in the majority on "Smile" as I thought it would be the other way around. Surprisingly, it was those in the bottom 2 making the most noise about how bad this song is lol.

Yes @ “Smile” in the top 4! It certainly has exceeded my expectations. I'm still prepared for it to be the first song out though lol.Correct again! Even though "Smile" is the first song to leave from this top 4, y'all might be surprised to see that it was pretty much our #3 for the entire submission process!! This song actually had a pretty substantial lead on the song at #4 for awhile, to where I didn't think that even the expected low ranks from a few people like myself and .indulgecountry would be able to tank it. Ultimately LBTrocks' unexpected last-minute list is what finally did this song in, and bumped it out of the top 3 "Smile" is a song that Terri wrote in honor of her mother's battle with cancer, so it is one that has always had a lot of meaning on this album. It absolutely deserves to be this high in terms of the impact it has had on her as an artist..........but it is just so fucking boring :( I will say that I do still enjoy it a lot, because a bad Terri Clark song is still better than a lot of other people's average output! But I always wish I loved this one more than I do. I just don't think this style of song matches her well as an artist. She is somebody who comes to life with the honky tonk foot stompers like "Wrecking Ball", "Emotional Girl", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Girl Lie Too", "Life Goes On", etc. in a way that pretty much nobody else can top...but when it comes to a wistful ballad like this a lot of other women would be able to sell it a bit better (Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina, etc.)

It was a bit of a roller coaster ride for "Breakin' Up Thing" to finish in the top 3 of this rankdown! This song rose and fell more than just about anything else on the album, simply because of the order in which the lists came. It still was practically a top 5 contender the entire time, it just never settled into a comfortable place. In the end this song got a whopping THREE #1 ranks, which actually ties it for the most #1s, and that high passion won out in the end. Also ClevelandRox your #1 was co-written by Terri and the 3rd Sugarland lady!!!!!!!

There's yet another Kristen Hall co-write! I had no idea she was so involved with this album. Anyways, I knew "Breakin' Up Thing" was a fan favorite going into this so I should've guessed it'd be a top 3 contender. I don't like this as much as those that put this in their top 5, but I do enjoy the easygoing vibe and that steel guitar is just lovely.
