As you know, I let it sit dormant during the Christmas rush, which turned into the year-end rankdown rush, which turned into needing to wait even longer because everybody kept opening rankdowns and not letting me have enough room to open any of my own....but with April looking fairly sparse still I decided it's about time for me to claim some real estate of my own in that month before y'all fill it up! Girl, you had four rankdowns of your own opened during this time including Best of the Best: Country Rankdown Winners, Revenge of the Best: Country Rankdown #2s, 2020 Country Rankdown, and the January 2021 New Releases! So it's not like you didn't already have a full plate and were keeping us all idle  Anyways...I'm really excited to dive back into Terri's albums especially this one as I had it on repeat back then! edit: and might I add that you now have EIGHT rankdowns were all submitting for lol! It's ok to share the rankdown calendar :) |

Now that February's nearly over and I'm finally free from the weight of 2020 and making progress with BotB/RotB, the hiatus must end ;) I wanted to get them booked now because if I don't, there won't be any available slots until May 😂 |

That sentiment was exclusively for the "Love Is a Rose" cover which she made the album's lead offering even though it's probably the worst song on it, but tbh I was thinking from her studio albums not including the covers project. I love several of her covers on that album. That said, it's close between the two so I'm not even totally sure. They're the bottom 2 tho, with 100% certainty. |

I always consider her first 6 albums to be like one of the most flawless sets of albums anyone has ever given us, including this one! Just The Same was always her weakest to me if only because it didn't bring anything new to the table it's title was very accurate haha
This album has some amazing album tracks that I'm very curious to see what comes out on top!

Time to bump this one!!!! I kinda let it go for awhile since the deadline was still so far away. However, as of yesterday we were at 4 more weeks until the deadline! Seems like a good time to revive this. We are off to a solid start, despite the lack of promotion!!

I've said before and I'll say it again, Terri is one of the most consistent albums artists I've ever heard!

I am going to go ahead and extend this to the end of the weekend. There is waaaaay too much going on in the country rankdown world lately, and I haven't been giving enough reminders, and I need a chance to get my feet back under me as a host right now....and I am sure many of you are feeling that way as participants as well! So I think all of Terri's first 6 or so albums are absolutely perfect without a single weak link in the bunch....but I kinda figured "Cure For The Common Heartache" would be a pretty obvious last place finisher here. And I was not wrong! It's not that it's bad or anything, it's just that the melody requires a little bit more of an investment.
Still, it's a perfect song for Terri's voice, and it fits just right into her style. She's always going to be one of those artists where it sucks that something has to be in last place, lol.

I probably should’ve saw this coming, but despite my own bottom 3 ranking I quite enjoy “Cure For The Common Heartache". Given the co-writers of the song, I do kinda wonder if someone like George Strait passed up on this song because I could easily see him recording it during this time as it easily would’ve fit onto Always Never the Same.

Ugh, y'all are absolute trash for this one. "Not Getting Over You" hits all the right buttons for me. The heartbreaking lyrics... The stirring orchestra... The way Terri absolutely wails out "not knowing where to turn is something I thought I'd never learn" in a full belt that goes way higher than you would normally expect from her... Easily one of my top album tracks of her entire career, and here y'all are kicking it to the curb like those hateful people who abandon their pets when they move... I might just put it into the album tracks rd anyway, tbh. We could stand to exchange a couple of tracks from Classic for some of her better early stuff, couldn't we? |
