"I'm Gonna Love You Through It" was Martina's (final ) smash hit in 2011/2012!!! After years of getting stuck in the top 20 but not quite making the top 10 (remember how I said last night "Ride" and "Wrong Baby Wrong" both petered out at #11? Yeah...), this song FINALLY was the one to break back through the glass ceiling that had started to plague her! When this hit the top 10 in 2012, it was her first top 10 since "Anyway" in 2006. And it very quickly became her first top 5 since "Anyway" right afterwards! Unfortunately, just when people were starting to talk about its strong #1 chances, it died at #4 Shame that revolving door for #1s didn't start until a couple years later..... Ugh, this SONG y'all! As someone whose mom had been going through cancer treatments for like 11 years when this song came out, it hit HARD. I love it so much, and am SOOO glad it got to bring her one final gasp of success. Actually, I don't mean to make it sound like her career was already over at this point or anything. Around the time of this song's release, Martina was literally HEADLINING CMA Fest. Yes, she was the final performer of the final night, and the one who the entire week of performances was building up to It's amazing how much longevity she managed to have compared to any of her '90s peers! And then her team went and released "Marry Me" and literally torpedoed everything so badly she was never able to get it back...

I knew it would be Eleven. I ranked it at #19 but this song has become very poignant for me since 2017 and it hurts to listen to sometimes. Sad but not surprised it's out. tim "Anyway" is from Waking Up Laughing

Performance in this rankdown:
48. Marry Me 30. Teenage Daughters 17. I'm Gonna Love You Through It
This album came out on October 11, 2011, as her 11th studio album. Hence the name Eleven, lol. Fun fact: if I recall correctly Martina and her crew went down to some studio in Atlanta to record this album in January of 2011, and then they got stuck in a huge snowstorm that basically kept them in the studio for several days! So what else could they do but focus on making a kick-ass album? Even though it was her last album of success with country radio, it still had a lot of cool moments for her career! To promote this album, Martina literally got her face painted onto an Amtrak train, and embarked on a one-of-a-kind train tour unlike anything else the nation had ever seen before. Here she is getting off at one of the performance stops: This was also her current era when she was asked to go out on tour with George Strait for his retirement tour! Out of all the stars he could have chosen, he chose Martina. Talk about a HUGE honor!!! For the entire first leg it was just the two of them. Then for the 2nd leg he brought on a bunch of guests, but she was still there for a lot of it.

Quite bittersweet to see that "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" exited, but it had least made its way into the top 20 this time around whereas it was regulated outside of that before. A good friend of my mom's passed away from breast cancer back when I was younger and I'll always remember the moment when he found out his mom died. We had been at the hospital with them all day and decided to head back to their house with one of the family members to get some things. We had just gotten back to the house and received the phone call that she had passed. We then drove right back over to the hospital as quickly as we could (it was a small town so we're talking about less than a 5 minute drive) only to find her son (my childhood friend) in the gift shop looking to buy something for her. I'll never forget the moment my mom had to break the news to him that his mom (Karen) passed away in that short time. It feels like a moment that is frozen in time in my mind and one that I go back to over and over again whenever I hear this song. My condolences go to bboat11 and anyone else that have lost a family member or friend to cancer. My roommate has already had a couple battles with it and it's nothing that I ever want to see anyone go through.

I guess I enjoy "Blessed" more than most on here and I can only think that maybe overplay had a role in some of the lower rankings. This does mean that my top ranking song lives to fight for another spot and at the very least has bested its previous position by five spots

We lose our second #1 hit with "Blessed"! This was her 5th and final #1 in March of 2002. It's still so hard for me to believe that her final #1 hit came in 2002 She had SOOOOOO many hits after that point that were HUGE hits, but just didn't make it for whatever reason. "Where Would You Be", "Concrete Angel", "This One's For The Girls", "In My Daughters Eyes", "Anyway", and "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" to name a few... She was always one of those artists who got huge hits that always seemed to miss out on #1. "Blessed" is such a happy, simple, feel-good song about being thankful for what you have. That melody is pure ear candy, and her vocal is fire. I love how the verses show off her low range more than we're used to, and then the way she suddenly jumps into the high parts in the chorus sounds so good. This song is perfect for her voice. Over the years she has released SO many amazing songs that I always seem to be one of the lowest rankers for this one, but I still love it with every fiber of my being and would easily give it a 10/10, lol. This is also the first song from the Greatest Hits era to leave us! That era was the final unscathed era remaining!

I really like everything except for my bottom 5. I've always liked "Blessed" but don't love it like I do most of her music

Another fun fact, Martina always did a great job of performing all of her songs in original key for much of her career even as she aged, while all the pop gurls lowered their hard songs to make them easier live... However, "Blessed" is one of her few songs that has actually gotten HIGHER through the years!
In her later tours, she put "Blessed" in a mashup with "Love's The Only House", and putting it in the same key as LTOH means it is a whole step higher than the studio version! The high notes are now E5s rather than D5s.

Lol sorry, I do plan to keep going! Other rankdowns started revealing at the same time, so I got distracted 😂 Yea there's only four rankdowns revealing all at the same time! I figured that "How Far" was likely going to show up somewhere between here and the top 10 which also means it more or less matches its previous position. While I do like this song, I just find that it doesn't have much replay value and in turn I had to put it just outside of my top 25.

We say goodbye to one of her most formidable accomplishments at #15 with "How Far". This vocal may be over-the-top for some people, but there is no denying that very few vocalists could sing a sing like this one as flawlessly as she does! This is one of those big hits that got shut out of the top 10 for some reason :( She has more than her fair share of those, doesn't she.
This one is just SO hard that it hasn't shown up in her live show very frequently since it went recurrent. And who can blame her! Fans are expecting to hear "Independence Day", "A Broken Wing", "Whatever You Say", "Where Would You Be", "Concrete Angel", etc. in every single show, so something has to give. This poor woman got herself into quite a dilemma with all these insanely difficult songs 😂
Also, this song goes back to the glory days before internet informed every aspect of my life! I honestly had NO clue "How Far" was a single until I was watching CMT one day and saw the music video start. I just about shat my pants! NO joy will ever be as pure or extreme as discovering your fave has a new single based on unexpectedly happening upon the music video 😂 And she served serious LOOKS in this music video too! I love it so much!
