Welp, I hope the choice to randomly pull "The Stranger" two months into its run works out well for her and "Lady Like" blows up into a smash. The label must have some sort of an idea that radio wants this one for them to switch gears like this, and for them to also dip back into the album instead of putting out "Waste of Lime" makes me think they have a good feeling about the single. It's such a shame that "The Stranger" never got to truly shine, but at least it charted briefly and got a music video, so it at least got some recognition. Still, it was easily my favorite thing she's done to date and seemed it was off to a decent enough start at country radio so it sucks it got punted.

I am excited about this choice, and as mentioned above it does seem like there must have been some real vocalized interest from radio to justify pulling "The Stranger" so fast when there were no real alarming warning signs it wouldn't do well. I will say that I always was worried it sounded too sonically similar to "More Hearts Than Mine" and that that would hurt it. Maybe after "Lady Like" smashes, they can re-push "The Stranger" because it's SO good.

Well, damn. Radio must have made it clear to the label that this one was wanted for them to justify giving "The Stranger" the shaft. I hope in turn that this one does well for her and continues off the success of "More Hearts Than Mine." "The Stranger" tho truly is the best thing from this album imo.

I would get it if they wanted to dump âThe Strangerâ for âWaste of Lime,â but to do it for âLady Likeâ so early into its run is really strange. If they thought radio would be so much more keen to play this then it seems like that wouldâve been the choice from the beginning.

"The Stranger" was nice but its really boring for radio and it wasn't going to catch on. That said, "Lady Like" is another risk, IMO. "Waste of Lime" felt like her best shot at another hit, but we will see. I definitely think this song has a better chance than "The Stranger" did though.
She is immensely talented but other than her debut single I am not sure her style was made for radio.

Reading the comments, I feel like I might be one of a few people who actually like Lady Like more than Stranger and wishing Lady Like had been the second single, so I'm very happy about this. Hope this will do well on the chart! Waste of Lime is great, but it is not in the album "Lady Like" and it is still too early to move on from her debut album.

Heard this on the radio last night for the first time. It does sound great and I'm glad we're getting something a little more mid-tempo from her.
It is interesting that the soft piano intro seems to be Ingrid's radio trademark up to this point. I'm not sure if it totally helps her.

It is interesting that the soft piano intro seems to be Ingrid's radio trademark up to this point. She has said she wrote songs as piano ballads first, then added everything else. I think this is her practice left from the days she wrote songs for pop artists. After all, the way she uses piano sounds like derivated from pop more than country.

I think the piano trademark for her is unique and helps her stand out in the genre, like Lindsay Ell with her electric guitar.

This is.... strange. I remember hearing this song shortly after it was released, lol. I'm bummed "The Stranger" got pulled for this since it's the far superior song IMO, but I still like this one too. Still find it strange that they pulled "The Stranger" and went back to this instead of pushing "Waste of Lime," but that's not me complaining, because I don't particularity care for "Lime" so I'm happier with this being pushed if they HAD to pull "The Stranger." Really bummed about it being pulled at all tho lol. Anyway, Ingrid is great and has tons of talent so I really hope this can do well for her regardless.

Spotify single version of Lady Like
Plus a cover of Dua Lipa's smash hit "Don't Start Now." Interesting cover choice. :O

This wasnât really on my radar as a single before, but now that Iâm listening to it a bit I think this a good choice. I love the subtle steel guitar and banjo plucking away in the background! Hopefully this can do well so pulling âThe Strangerâ wasnât in vain.

5th most added song with 18 adds and 21 stations total. I do think this could be a hit but it is probably going to be a very long climb for "Lady Like" if it does become a hit and the start for this song is a bit tepid if you ask me.

"The Stranger" started with 29 adds so not terribly far of a drop-off from that one, and 21 to start with, while not great numbers, still puts her in a better position starting out than most new female's singles have received lately. If it ultimately hits for her, it'll definitely be a very slow climb, but that's not really at all unexpected.

There is one word in the lyrics that is certainly not "lady like." How was this edited for radio?

Emotional performance of "More Hearts Than Mine" at the CMAs last night!
It would be nice if they let her perform a more current song, but then again it's pretty cool that she even got to perform at all! It seems most people agree she was one of the best performances of the night :)

As this continues to struggle at Country radio falling off the Airplay chart again this week, the song is listed this week as New and Active at Adult Top 40. I wonder if Andress' label is pushing this outside country as it is unusual for a song that has flopped so far at its core format to be picked up in another by an artist with no track record at that format.

Seems like Sirius might be spinning this on HAC since it showed up in the top 50 on HAC today but with no audience.

I donât know why, but for some reason I always suspected sheâd eventually end up going pop somewhere down the road. Donât know if that will ever happen; love her music though.

I wish OTV recipients had OTV-lite for their follow up single. It is starting to become the norm that being OTV definitely doesn't guarantee you any success at all after your breakout single (nor does it even guarantee success with the OTV single anymore: Tenille, Caylee).

I mean OTV isn't supposed to guarantee continuing success. It still depends on marketing from artist and artist's team. Country industry is brutal and I would actually like fewer participation trophies given out given how slow the charts are these days.

I mean that has been the case for artists post OTV since the beginning, off the top of my head A Thousand Horses, Raelynn, Craig Campbell, Cam, Tucker Beathard, Mitchell Tenpenny, Caylee Hammack, Tenille Townes all had OTV and pretty much had very limited radio success at best afterwards. I do think "Lady Like" while not doing great is doing fine considering the circumstances, keep in mind this went for adds only a few months ago and has done decently well considering the unfortunate the release of "The Stranger" that really sucked a lot of her momentum (up to #54 on Billboard and Mediabase). You inherently have more momentum after the big hit and not the under performing flop in most album cycles so overall I am not too worried about this song.
