I'm perplexed to see "Insomnia" have rankings below #5. It's f**king biblical, mate.

I ranked "Insomnia" based on the more popular Monster Mix.

This did far better than I had hoped. Top 3! I love Hybrid's remixes of BT's 'Never Gonna Come Back Down' and Alanis Morissette's 'So Pure' (even though she herself hated it).

Wait I just realized I Remember is this high up. Ok here for it.
But pretty sure Revolution 909 is gonna win due to artist bias

Maybe I should start playing video games just so I can hear songs like this. Another jam.

Your final 2. I RememberRevolution 909Tale of the Tape:These songs spent a combined 16 movements at #1. Despite this, they were rarely in the top 2 at the same time. A combined 29 top 10s--15 being top 5s and 5 being #1s--were given to Dead and Daft. 3 bottom 10s left (one is a bottom 5) Two people can get a perfect top 2: aerodynamite and FireOnly Beno, Sambalada, American Idiot, and newpower have no top 10s left

Ok, some of you will be wishing the host had not made a list when it comes to this top 2 battle. But hey, one of the biggest reasons I host personal rankdowns is so I myself can have the fun of ranking the songs within them, so that'll never change, lmao. Despite my ranking, I do love the song. But again, it was very much an afterthought addition, so I just have less emotional attachment to it than the rest of the playlist. I do think deadmau5 got kind of lucky in landing upon this innately pleasing yet off-kilter chord progression and providing Haley Gibby the space to lay down a beautiful set of melodies, since I don't like anything else he's released as much as this. Or maybe Kaskade made the most important creative decisions here; I don't know how the songwriting process for this song went tbh lol my condolences, die Lotterie, aerodynamite, Fire, alexcuse, and rowellfarm490. yea, when I mentioned "Insomnia" was the most common #1, I intentionally left out that it was tied for most common #1... 2
I Remember Deadmau5 & Kaskade Year: 2008 Label: Virgin 273 points Standard Deviation: 9.389355675 die Lotterie - 1 aerodynamite - 1 Fire - 1 alexcuse - 1 rowellfarm490 - 1 eidde - 2 Juanca - 2 @trilogy - 3 walt91 - 3 Mirago - 6 @humanshazam - 8 peacebone - 8 🅳🅸🆂🅲🅾 - 10 Sambalada - 12 American Idiot - 12 Albie - 13 Az Paynter - 13 Butterflies & Hurricanes - 15 Beno - 16 wrip - 19 newpower - 20 willapted33 - 21 BB🌕 - 22 Juan Carlos - 28 singingrulebritannia - 35 Movement 28 17 16 11 14 12 10 10 8 9 6 5 5 5 8 6 5 4 3 3 3 4 3 2
Which leaves us with... It's about time Daft Punk won another rankdown (and especially without it being a song from RAM their weakest album)! They've had so many appearances and near-misses, it was getting ridiculous. Heck, I went into this rankdown expecting that, since I picked a Homework single that wasn't "Da Funk or "Around the World" (I think it's better than the latter ftr), that I was handicapping the duo's potential at a win. But, seems like the song's sheer agreeableness proved me wrong. Congrats to...no one! This track was not a single poster's first place ranking. Oh, and when I said "a combined 16 movements"--I was obfuscating the fact that this song accounted for all of those movements. 1

a bit underwhelmed by the winner (it’s good but I think name recognition & band reputation buoyed it a bit too much)
but “Finished Symphony” was an awesome discovery...thanks for hosting a fun rankdown Gates!

23. Raw Cuts #3 (17): This was a pretty good discovery. I really like the production, beat and vibe, here, but it ends up a bit repetitive / monotonous halfway through. 22. Pump Up The Volume (4): This was a great discovery in a Pulse RD from a couple years ago. It's become one of my favorite 80s dance instrumentals. I love the production here, with the different samples, variations, sound effects. The main instrumental is ACE, too, including the piano and percussion bits. Surprised this has left so early 21. Little Fluffy Clouds (36): The ambient instrumental is good enough, but I quickly ended up HATING the voice samples, that I wanted to mute her quickly. It was just too displeasing to me to overcome it. 20. Parisian Goldfish (27): I liked the beat and instrumental enough, but I was waiting for some further variation or dynamism in the production than what I got in the second half 19. Can You Feel It (11): On the contrary, this was a great discovery that fulfilled my need for variety. The different vocal sections played a big role. but the overall dark but sexy vibe was also strong enough for me, and made me think of nighttime drives. Plus, it's astounding that this was recorded in 1986. Talking about forward-looking music!! 18. Plastic Dreams (26): This was an interesting electro-jazz tune. I'm not a big fan of jazzy stuff, but I appreciated the eclecticness and gave it some extra brownie points. 17. Move Me (9): I was surprised at how quickly this song clicked with me. I liked the main beat carrying the song, as well as the additional guitars and keyboard sounds that add much more personality and uniqueness to the song. One of my favorite discoveries in this RD. 16. Labyrinth (12): Her vocals are hypnotic -in tone and language- and I really like the main beat, instrumental and melody. The extra strings, pianos and sound effects are all effective to me, and resemble the warm vibe of disco and early 80s dance pop tunes. I just wish it had another vocal melody section, because it starts to sound repetitive in the last minute or so. 15. Odessa (5): This was my favorite discovery!!! I LOVED the mysterious, wintery, cool instrumental, the verse-chorus melodic structure, and the guy's warm vocals. The additional cowbell sound was the icing on the cake. 14. You Don't Know Me (13): I've heard this before. It's a solid one, with nice melody and instrumental -especially the strings and drums- but I needed some extra oomph, uniqueness to rank it higher. 13. Dayvan Cowboy (32): This one reminded me of some instrumental by Moby. It isn't bad, but I need more familiarity to better appreciate stuff like this. At this moment, it's just a bit too boring and uninteresting. 12. When a Fire Starts to Burn (16): The production / instrumental here is very SOLID, but the vocal sample got tiring halfway through the song. It's still a jam that I could've ranked in my top 10 if the vocal had been reduced to half... 11. Big Fun (14): Very nice discovery!! It's kinda got the origins of stuff from the 90s (eg Technotronic, Black Box). As with other songs in this RD, I just wanted some extra melodic section to have it in my top 10. But very strong tune anyway.
