This one is really starting to take off since it reached the top 20. This looks very likely to continue his #1 streak.

I mean this will probably hit #1, but its probably gonna be one of the least impacting #1s in the last few years and be forgotten of by everyone who isn't a chart nerd/Scotty McCreery stan, because it is telling that it just hit the Bubbling Under Hot 100, and it's Top 15 in country radio, which really shows that this song is mostly being propped up by the radio more than it's chart peers.

While this it true I donβt think it will slow him down as heβs not exactly known for fast climbs. This seems just business as usual for Scotty. I think heβs got a safe spot on radio as long as he keeps releasing safe radio filler. I do wonder what heβd have to do do move up to the next level.

I think he's safe for now, but I do think he's quickly heading in the Cole Swindell/Brett Young/Dustin Lynch in terms of radio relevance (aka gets 1 radio hit a year that tends to be forgotten pretty quickly, and their star power continues to fade per release) except a bit worse since this is his second single in a row that has pretty much no buzz to it at all. I think Scotty will probably be landing hits for a couple more years regardless of how impactful it is, but I don't know how forgiving country radio is going to be if each song he releases has the same level of impact as "In Between" and "You Time" from here on out. Eventually when an artist isn't connecting very well outside of country radio, radio will eventually bail on the artist no matter how radio friendly the music is (Thompson Square, David Nail, Frankie Ballard, Granger Smith). But I do agree with your overall sentiment.

he really needs that Hot Country Spotify playlist right about now. His streams are super low and itβs kinda surprising that at his chart placement heβs already hot on that playlist. Once he gets on that playlist, watch the streams and Hot 100 placement rise drastically.
Ray is right tho that heβs heading towards a Dustin Lynch/Cole Swindell career and definitely needs to do something a bit different cause tbh heβs getting a bit stale. A high profile collab could probably do WONDERS for him for his next album.

A big collaboration would help, but it has do be the right artist. For instance, there's been talk that Scotty & Garth was working on a song together. Garth is a big name, but that won't help his streaming since Garth isn't great at streaming.

So many people on these boards are really against the younger straight white males while always trying to prop up any female singer. He is way bigger than those names you listed.

Because the straight white males are so oppressed in the country music genre, so it is such a crime of us to try and give a voice to the women in country music? It isn't wishful thinking on my part by the way, you're just assuming stuff about me, and you know what they say about assuming it makes an ass out of you and me. Also imo I don't think Scotty McCreery is that much bigger if at all then the artists I listed (Cole Swindell, Brett Young, and Dustin Lynch) and if he is, it is marginal at best.

Straight white males get plenty of positive attention here, and plenty of female artists (see Gabby Barrett, Lily Rose, Caroline Jones, Robyn Ottolini, etc) receive buckets of criticism. If you disagree with a point someone makes, maybe try countering their argument with facts instead of throwing out some kind of ridiculous βhaterβ accusation.

Scotty isn't bigger than Dustin, Brett, or Cole. Every single one of them has more #1 hits & country airplay success, RIAA single certifications (based on sales/streaming), etc. than Scotty & in less time, too. All of them were introduced to the genre after Scotty released his 1st single. Scotty beats all of them on album sales, but that should be expected since his debut album was after Idol. Maybe more people might know Scotty's face more than the other 3, but that's likely because of Idol. I wouldn't be surprised if many people wouldn't know any of these guys faces.

Love Scotty's rendition of this song. His voice is so deep.
Also can't wait to hear the studio version of "Same Truck" Not at all what I was expecting with this title.

This is looking like another #1 for Scotty but MAN, what a low impacting single (less than 6 million Spotify streams and inside the Top 10). Has this even hit the Hot 100?

I got some breaking news I heard on WSOC in Charlotte today. They were talking about Trent Tomlinson coming to town and they said he wrote Scotty McCreery's next single. So that must mean it's gonna be "Damn Strait." It's the only song on the tracklist written by him.

"Same Truck" is my favorite song out of the new album so far. Mine too. I haven't really been enamored with anything else I've heard from it yet, but "Same Truck" is quite good.

I'm glad this has already been well hashed out in the thread, but, like, we have a song in the top 10 that has less than 7 million streams and sits at #96 on the hot 100. Obviously the Billie Eilish album bomb is part of it, but this is truly a sad moment for country radio. The song is fine and inoffensive, but NOBODY is actively choosing to listen to this song.

Other than Chase Rice's song that I haven't heard, this is my least favorite song in the top 40 at radio. This is just SO mediocre and annoying. With how poorly this is performing everywhere else, I really hope this can miss #1 somehow.
With that said, "Same Truck" and especially "Why You Gotta Be Like That" are both great. The chorus in WYGBLT is money and I hope it can be a single.
