Wow, I had no idea YouTube had fallen off so much as a factor. Looking at the view totals for some recent #1s, they are nothing like songs were getting just a year or two ago. These songs aren't even near 500 million views. What happened? YouTube isn't dominating on a Global scale either. It is suprassed by Spotify for example.
There is a twitter account that posts the most streamed artists daily, and every day there are at least 4 Latin male artists among top 10 male acts. (Bad Bunny/J Balvin/Ozuna and depending on the day Maluma/Anuel AA/Daddy Yankee). Untill a year/two ago it wasn't like this. I would assume Latin America started using Spotify instead of YouTube.

lol, nothing new for BTS. They can release 20 more versions, but they can't force the song to become a big hit. Well, it went #1 and didn't fall out of top 10, I would think that makes it a big hit. Assuming this is to help keep it in the top 10 and of course make some coins for the label. |

What happened? people moving to streaming platforms like Spotify or AM was I thought, but in reality their streaming numbers haven't increased much since 2018. I think it's exclusive youtube music videos that's taking away the views, because the audio versions and the youtube music versions are splitting the pie. Take a look at Blinding Light's 3 official videos According to RIAA there was 43.7 million paid music subscriptions on average in the first half of 2018, and in 2020 there is now 72.1 million paid music subscriptions on average in United States. That is a huge increase, 65% increase actually. Even if the biggest hits of 2019/2020 haven't been breaking daily/weekly records on Spotify & Apple Music, I think the huge subscriber increase shows there is far more people who are now engaging full-time in audio streaming if they have converted to paying for it. And there's definitely still a large decline taking account of all videos of a song uploaded officially. Don't Start Now has less than 500 million views after nearly a year, with all its uploads. New Rules has 2.2 billion... Blinding Lights has below 600 million, while Starboy has just below 2 billion. Circles has less than 300 million, while Congratulations has over 1.2 billion. All of those newer hits now barely get more views daily than the older hits, so they're basically gonna continue to stay at a difference that large. |

The YouTube algorithm recommends it a lot and it autoplays sometimes for some people: both things that can be cancelled and stopped if people would turn off their autoplay option, but you have a lot of people who just go on YouTube, press play on a video and leave it to go do other things while leaving their autoplay on and sometimes, it autoplays as a result, but it doesn't happen to everybody and it isn't the sole reason for it's consistency because Life Is Good has been maintaining it's 4-5M daily views since it got released. For some reason, it just benefits from YouTube's algorithm in terms of recommendations, not unlike other videos have done before in the past. |

Come & Go now has the highest net positive score in the latest radio callouts, while Roses has the lowest one. Interesting to note that the range of scores between the highest and lowest net positive scores seems to be the narrowest since I've been checking this.
