Plus: 6ix9ine's 'TattleTales' bows in top 10. Big Sean scores his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Detroit 2 debuts atop the list. The set, which was released on Sept. 4 via G.O.O.D./Def Jam, launches with 103,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 10, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. He previously notched No. 1s with his last two solo releases, 2017’s I Decided and 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Sept. 19-dated chart (where Detroit 2 bows at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Tuesday, Sept. 15. For all chart news, follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Of Detroit 2’s 103,000 units earned in the tracking week ending Sept. 10, SEA units comprise 71,000 (equating to 93.55 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs), 30,000 are in album sales (aided by merchandise/album bundles) and 2,000 in TEA units.
Detroit 2 was announced in March, and follows Big Sean’s 2012 free mixtape Detroit.
Detroit 2 is also Def Jam’s second No. 1 of 2020, following Justin Bieber’s Changes (released via SchoolBoy/Raymond Braun/Def Jam).
A pair of former No. 1s stay steady in the Nos. 2 and 3 slots: Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon (75,000 equivalent album units earned, down 3 percent) and Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die (57,000 units; down 11 percent).
6ix9ine’s TattleTales opens at No. 4 with 53,000 equivalent album units earned, notching the rapper his third top 10. Of the set’s starting sum, 32,000 are in album sales (supported by an array of merchandise/album bundles), 20,000 are in SEA units (equaling 32.94 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs) and 1,000 are in TEA units.
The album was preceded by a trio of tracks that hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Gooba” (which peaked at No. 3), “Trollz,” with Nicki Minaj (which logged 6ix9ine his first No. 1 in June) and “Yaya” (No. 99).Taylor Swift’s Folklore falls from No. 1 to No. 5 after spending its first six weeks atop the list. It tallied 48,000 equivalent album units in the latest tracking week (down 46 percent).
The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical is a non-mover at No. 6 with 44,000 equivalent album units earned (down 9 percent), while Lil Baby’s former No. 1 My Turn is also steady at No. 7 with 40,000 (down 5 percent).
Closing out the top 10: Rod Wave’s Pray 4 Love is stationary at No. 8 with 32,000 equivalent album units earned (down 10 percent), DaBaby’s Blame It On Baby holds at No. 9 with nearly 30,000 units (down 7 percent) and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding rises 11-10 with just under 30,000 units (down 3 percent).

I like the 70's & 80's AT40 shows & wish that the Shadoe Stevens shows could be listened to also.

So after all the weeks of holding off the dead rappers Big Sean & Skittles hair debut ahead of Taylor AND she falls behind the dead rappers too. That's what you call something fishy in Denmark but then again Billboard chart systems have been stinking worse that dead skunks for a while now.

“Dead rappers”? What a callous statement but looking at your point count I’m not surprised.

1989 reached the 300th week charted milestone. Several albums nearing the 400th week charted milestone and others the 500th week charted one.

Taylor Swift's 1989 joins an elite club, as the album racks up a 300th week on the Billboard 200 chart. In turn, it becomes the fourth album by a woman to spend at least 300 weeks on the tally.
1989 debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated Nov. 15, 2014, and has rarely been absent from the list since its arrival: It's been on the chart for 300 of the 307 weeks since it bowed. On the new Billboard 200 chart dated Sept. 19, where 1989 clocks its 300th week, the album ranks at No. 116.
1989 joins Adele's 21 (482 weeks, the most ever on the chart for an album by a woman), Lana Del Rey's Born to Die (364) and Carole King's Tapestry (318) as the only albums by women to have spent at least 300 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.
The all-time leader in terms of total weeks on the chart remains Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon with 950 weeks. It is also, thus, the longest charting album by a group. In terms of solo male artists, Eminem's Curtain Call: The Hits, has the lead, with 495 weeks.

A note: Tapestry also has a good number of weeks ranked in the midline/catalog top 50, when catalog titles were not eligible for the main albums chart. As does Pink Floyd's album and other, older classic titles.

Yep when you exclude two decades of charting from some of the longest charting albums ever Longevity records on this chart get a little tainted

Comparing stuff from different chart eras will always be messy. Especially when your album can keep charting from old hits getting some streams instead of... you know, actually selling copies.
