Some examples in Nassau-Suffolk and the metro area: There should be five 107.1s in a 100 mile radius (Suffolk, Westchester, Monmouth, Sussex/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, New Bedford-Fall River). WCAA 105.9 and WBLI 106.1 94.3 in Momouth-Ocean, Nassau-Suffolk, and Connecticut

Once in a while, two different 93.3's come in. One from Bowling Green, KY and another from Tullahoma, TN. Usually, the Tullahoma one overpowers it. There's a 106.5 up in KY somewhere and KZ-106 from Chattanooga will beam up here about once every 4 months (also 106.5). And there's a 94.3 up in Springfield, TN, which I can hardly ever get in and it "fights" with 94.1 in Smyrna, TN.

That must be the one (I've never heard of Cadiz), but I went to the website (www.wkdzradio.com) and there's something about Ft. Campbell, KY which is near the state line north of Clarksville, TN. Every morning in the car, it comes in usually. Usually, I can't get anything one station away from a local (there's a 106.7 here).

Reception is satisfactory for both. I noticed that both 105.9 and 106.1 are stations in SF. I thought that 105.9 would be close enough to 106.1 to pick up 106.1, but I heard a completely different station. :o KMEL 106.1 ?? ?? 105.9

I'm guessing KQPM 105.9 from Ukiah is the station in question. ??? Yahoo says Ukiah is 115 miles away from San Francisco.

Maybe that station is a LPFM or a pirate station?
On R&R I mentioned I'm able to hear a good number of AM and FM stations from Maui and Kaua'i. Both islands are about 100 miles away from Honolulu.
As I mentioned earlier in this topic, from Koko Crater Stables I'm able to hear KLUA and KLEO from Kona which is about 155 miles away. KAOY 101.5 is another station heard there. From St.Louis Heights I'm able to hear another Kona coast station- KWYI 106.9.

Here in the Toronto area, the big one for me anyway is
93.5 CFXJ FLOW 93.5 - Toronto's Hip Hop - R&B
93.7 WBLK Buffalo's Hip hop & R&B
The only two good urban radio stations...and one of them is virtually blocked out, unless you are in the car and even then it isn't all that great.
FLOW has been around for almost 3 years now, I think it is 2.5, I know they wanted to get rid of competition, but why did they have to come and get the slot on the dial closest to WBLK?
Can't we have a little variety here?
I know they dont CHOOSE where their spot is, I dont think, I think the CRTC just gives them one.
But damn that's whack, they basically blocked out another good station.
Couldn't they have gone to like 87.3 or something, where no other good station is? Damn

KKUA 90.7 (a KHPR translator) on Maui is 7,000 watts and I can get it really good at home. However, K214CY 90.7 (the Christian CHR Air 1 affiliate) right here in Honolulu is only 10 watts. I can get that in the HNL airport area. I wonder why the FCC would assign K214CY on the same frequency as KKUA with such low power? It doesn't even cover the entire island.

Here in the greater Los Angeles area, depending on which way you point your antenna, what part of the city your in or which way the wind is blowing, if you spin your dial to 100.7 FM, you'll either get KHAY, a country station licensed to Oxnard/Simi Valley, or KFMB-FM San Diego, aka Star 100.7, arguably the nation's most prestigious Hot AC station.
There are several other frequencies with similar problems plaguing L A, but that's just one of them.

Well, they're not really all that close to each other, but 106.7 Romance and 107.5 Amor have basically the exact same format (Spanish AC/ballads) and have no stations in between each other. My parents often listen to them, and they can't even tell which one they're listening to until the DJs speak. It's just wierd.
97.9 WRMF, Hot AC from West Palm Beach, has a decent signal that can reach Miami-Dade country decently, but you can often barely hear it b/c of Salsa 98.3.

Recently 93.9 KLUA Kailua-Kona, HI reduced power from 32kw to 7.3kw. While 93.9 KIKI here in Honolulu remains at 100kw.
I use to be able to get KLUA in the Sandy Beach area around the southeastern part of Oahu driving around. I think they were asked to reduce power because it interfered with KIKI in some spots. I can't do that anymore. I can still get KLUA in a tree in Koko Crater though. Today I just positioned my radio a little differently, and tada, I got KLUA with decent results if it wasn't a fluke.
It's to my understanding KLUA's transmitter is on the mountain slopes of Hualalai in Kona. I'm actually surprised I'm still getting it. It's probably my favorite station in Kona/Hilo.
I guess Clear Channel owned KIKI ultimately won the battle. I should not have been able to get another station from over 200 miles away on the same frequency as KIKI after all these years. But, that's life.

Kauai's noncommercial KKCR now has a translator on Mt. Kaala on Oahu at 104.7 which is the same frequency as KONI over on Maui. Not only that, but this new signal is between KPHW 104.3 and KINE 105.1 also broadcating here in Honolulu. I'm a bit upset that KKCR took the route of broadcasting on 104.7 even though KONI is on Maui. But my real beef: why is this new 104.7 signal being allowed by the FCC when 104.3 and 105.1 transmits not too far away, also on the Waianae mountain range? Was the lower end of the FM band already too crowded as not to allow another noncommercial FM there?
As for the new KKCR translator signal here (I don't know the call letters yet), It transmits from Mt. Kaala- the highest point on Oahu at 4,030 ft. I can hear it from that area up to around Ala Moana Center. Then as you head eastbound you can hear KONI 104.7 on Maui.

It actually transmits in the Waianae Mountain range near Palehua and Makakilo, closer to me than I thought. This new translator is 100 watts, hopefully no signal upgrade will take effect.

A new station, 101.1 KXRG-LP Honolulu launched recently. Meaning it's on the same frequency as 101.1 KLHI on Maui. KXRG is 100 watts here in Honolulu but I still get the more powerful KLHI clearer.
