Couldn’t find an existing thread where this felt appropriate, but I would appreciate some feedback. While I rarely post here (but I am trying to be more active), I’ve been following charts as a hobby and making music playlists and lists and spreadsheets for about 15 years! I just got a promo code to get a 1-year Billboard Pro sub for $65 - half off. While the Hot 100 is essentially public domain, I am curious about having easy to read access on other weekly chart history for genres and misc multi-formats. (On the other hand, you can see an individual song’s peak at least on Wikipedia.).Since I work a lot with spreadsheets anyway, I am also willing to use the data in some of my free time to create some yearly/all-time rankings if that’s something people would be interested in. I especially like rockgolf s complete lists and wouldn’t mind doing something similar with some genres, if it’s allowed. (I surely don’t want to violate Billboard or the site’s TOS with these charts so if using the data for custom ranking lists is a problem I won’t). So what do current subscribers think about this deal? Is Billboard worth it at this price, or any? Or is the data just not going to be especially enlightening or useful? I also read if you cancel early, your sub is prorated. So if I try it out and am not impressed after a couple weeks, I’ll get all but like $6 or whatever refunded, yeah?

As with everything it depends on how much you want to spend and if you think it is worth it. I have had a subscription for quite a while. The magazine end of things has deteriorated rapidly. Where it is now practically a monthly magazine. So if you subscribe I would avoid that. The online data is fine and should provide you what you are looking for.

FYI, I don't have a Billboard Pro sub.

If you’re just wanting chart access, racpro.com is cheaper and allows you to look at a song’s entire chart run. It doesn’t feature every single genre, but the main ones (hot 100, airplay charts, hot rap/r&b, hot country, top 40, hot alternative, and a number of others) are all there. And it goes all the way back to 1956
