Iβm not sure what thread to ask this in, but why is Gabby Barrett problematic? I tried looking stuff up but I couldnβt find anything and Iβm just curious. Earlier this year... β’ Her Husband tweeted that Barrett was βthe most successful American Idol of her seasonβ and that she was on her way to being βthe most successful contestant from the show, everβ. (He, too, was on the show and a part of her season. β’ Several other contestants from their season called his tweet out. Maddie Poppe, that seasons winner, retweeted him and explained that he can support his wife without, seemingly, βtearing other participants downβ. β’ He deleted the tweet and tried to explain that it was taken out of context but still kept his stance in saying that she was a βbiggest successβ and refused to apologise. Barrett then quotes him and tweets, and I quote, βI Love you. Thank you for your continuous support. I am very blessed and happy to be in this positionβ. β’ Barrettβs Father (who is also on Twitter) decided to call out those who were offended by her Husbands tweet and referred to them as βLiberal snowflakesβ. He then said that these people βwere never their friendsβ and that they βbelong to the typical Holly-weird crowdβ. β’ Afterward, her Father tweets about Barrett and says βshe dominates video views, she dominates record sales, she dominates ticket sales and is bigger than everyone elseβ which, again, aggravated everybody. π β’ Later, her Father retweets several fans and, in one of them says, and I quote, βJust for the record, Iβm a 50-year-old man who identifies as 20,β. βHey, itβs 2020. Iβm allowed to identify as whatever I want, right?β. He was accused by fans of being ignorant and transphobic. These same fans started tweeting Barrett, asking her to respond and βseparate herself from her Fathers actionsβ. She didnβt and still hasnβt. Also... β’ During the height of the BLM movement this summer, fans discovered that she was liking tweets posted by anti-BLM twitter accounts (whom were accusing them of being βriotersβ, causing βdomestic terrorismβ etc.). β’ A fan asked her if she is against the BLM movement on IG and she responded, without saying yes or no, that she βloves her country and believes in democracyβ and that βitβs not her place to agree or disagree with certain movementsβ. Ironically, however, on the same post, a fan said that they donβt believe in the BLM movement and questioned why these protestors had to burn down buildings to prove a point. She responded with a βthumbs upβ emoji which many took as her being anti-BLM and proving sheβs a hypocrite. β’ She said on IG live that she loves her president and believes that he is doing βgood for the people of this country, as Christ guides him tooβ which proves that she is, indeed, a Trump supporter. π So, yes... Sheβs very problematic. Sheβs just very sly with it but itβs clear what her social/socio-political beliefs are. |

^ So basically a one hit wonder in the making If being problematic prevented you from having hits, Chris Brown and 6ix9ine would not have had Top 10 hits this year. And now that Gabby Barrett managed to be one of the few country stars to crack the Top 10, expect to see Nashville promote her work. Good Ones is bubbling under right now, I expect it to be a hit next year. |

When she lost on Idol, she actually had shady bitter tweets about it so not surprised she is this way now and even back then her stage father is a mess.
With that said, I did like her on Idol and thought she had star potential (I thought she was gonna win because she was the obvious producer favorite). I like I Hope and rooted for it to go to the top 10. But reading all this stuff dampened my enthusiasm for that song now lol but still she's young (20) and grew up in a conservative environment so who knows maybe as years pass and she meets more people different from what's she used to, she'll broaden her perspective in life.
