30 (32)/29 (28): SOOOOOO CLOOOOOOOSE!!!! Also, I think it's funny that the Brandy song I ranked the lowest finished the highest, and right under the rank I gave it too.
28 (46): This song is a banger, but GTA Radio overexposure strikes yet again.
27 (91): Ask and ye shall receive, lol. But yeah, "I'll Stand By You" is just boring.
26 (16): Another banger, and I hope Dre's recovering well.

{Looks like I fell a bit behind...} 45. "Warning" [63]: I originally had this higher, but it's really not one of his best. Still pretty good, though. 44. "Run Around" [48]: This did surprisingly better than I expected! 43. "1st of tha Month" [38]: Despite me not ranking it that high, I really wish this had done better. I just love the production and melody. Chris Brown and co. could never! I may even like it more than "Tha Crossroads". 42. "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" [62]: This was nice, I guess? Not much else I can say about it. 41. "December" [88]: This was disappointing. 40. "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)" [79]: This was fine, but not at all memorable for how big of a hit it was, IMO. 39. "Brown Sugar" [102]: Yeah, sorry. This just couldn't appeal to me, lol. I'm relieved that I at least wasn't the only person with such a low rank for this. 38. "Good" [53]: This lives up to its name. 37. "Old School" [21]: What more can I say? It's Tupac, so of course I'm gonna love it! I especially love the old school vibes of it. 36. "All I Wanna Do" [22]: This definitely grew on me. A lot. Sad that this was 14 spots lower, this time. 35. "If You Love Me" [82]: This was fine, I guess, but it just didn't do much for me. Surprised it was this high. 34. "You Want This" [43]: Janet does not disappoint! 33. "As I Lay Me Down" [42]: Very pleasantly surprised this did so well. I thought it would be out early for being an Adult Contemporary radio ballad. The melody and background vocals made this great. 32. "One More Chance/Stay With Me" [30]: Well-known as having the same sample as "Foolish" (at least the remix is). Pretty great song with great flow, too! 31. "I'm the Only One" [98]: This overstayed. I'm just not understanding the appeal for it. Her other two songs in this were much better. 30. "Here Comes the Hotstepper" [39]: This also grew on me. Very surprised that this isn't polarizing! 29. "I Wanna Be Down" [36]: Glad this is her highest song, and that it did better on this rankdown than in 1994. Great song to vibe with! 28. "I Got 5 On It" [34]: I believe this is the highest SD, so far. And I guess that doesn't surprise me. I feel like I used to love it more than I do now, but it's still really good. P. Diddy and Jennifer Lopez both sampled this on big hits, but those just don't sound quite as good as the original, IMO. 27. "I'll Stand By You" [68]: I may have underranked this. The second half of the song is honestly great. The first half is just pretty uninteresting, though. 26. "Keep Their Heads Ringing" [28]: Another song I'm surprised isn't polarizing, but I'm not complaining. Dre does not disappoint. If I had put my #11 as my #10 instead of "You Are Not Alone", I'd still have my top 10 intact. Now I wish I had done so. Speaking of "I Wish", glad to see it still in the running. The longer it stays, the happier I am. It goes to show that vulgarity is not a requirement for a great hip-hop song.

"Kiss From A Rose" - Seal "No More I Love You's" - Annie Lennox "Scream" - Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson "Secret" - Madonna "This Is How We Do It" - Montell Jordan I'd realistically replace "Scream" and "No More I Love You's" with "Waterfalls" and either "The Rhythm of the Night", "Carnival" or "Runaway". The former two are good, but not nearly on the level as the latter too, IMO. And yeah, I sadly don't see "I Wish" making the top ten, though I certainly would have no complaints if it did.

Solid top 25. I can’t be mad at the recent reveals. This Is How We Do It is overrated so hopefully that’s out sooner than later.

All I Wanna Do is a classic! Which is exactly why I'm burnt out on it. We have a bad habit of overdoing classics these days, and it's driven me out into the realm of forgotten hits. Forgotten hits break up the monotony of all classics all the time. My affinity for the forgotten is probably why I always rank near the bottom for "closeness" on any rankdown, regardless of year or genre.

Forgotten hits break up the monotony of all classics all the time. My affinity for the forgotten is probably why I always rank near the bottom for "closeness" on any rankdown, regardless of year or genre. I agree that as we move further from the 90s, the number of classics that continue on lessen with each passing year. I love 90s nights at the club and 90s themed shows on the radio, for example, but doing either more than twice and you quickly realize how limited and repetitive they are, as if they believe that only 20 songs from the decade will get a positive response. Granted, I’m sure “The Sign” is more recognizable than “Don’t Turn Around” because the former has become permanently linked to 90s nostalgia whereas the latter has become lost in time. But what you’ve said about being burnt on classics is exactly how I feel about “This Is How We Do It.” I loved it in the 90s. I’m burnt on it now.

we already ranked it in 1994 So that makes it not as good in 1995? I’m confused. (Not that it has to be as high. If 1995 is an overall stronger year, there’s more competition. Granted, I was mostly just commenting in jest as it was my #1 )
