Huh, Heart of Rock and Roll was the longest lasting of the Huey Lewis songs? ...Why? If This Is It was pleasant enough, but Huey Lewis is just such a lame artist. Just the combination of the name Huey Lewis, the album title Sports, and this album cover is just... How was this one of the biggest artists of the 80s

Time again for some extras that I kinda sorta wish would have shown up, but than again maybe not because they ain't written for PULSE fans. Born in America - RiotBest known as Riot V . This was Heavy metal before it was Glam. I recall this one quite well. had the Quiet Riot/AC/DC raw Metal style. I think I only heard this song one time on radio, and it was KMET who had more of a heavier sound. I would have ranked this one same range as Krokus. 2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron MaidenI believe I might have ranked this in the top 5 on one of Red rock Rds. More Heavy Metal to sooth my soul. Talk about the fierce BPM's. This one clocks in at 94bpms, but gives the illusion of riding at about 50 more. I would most likely have to sacrifice a song I don't want to to squeeze this one into my top 5, but I would have to in the name of Metal. Some Heads Are Gonna Roll - Judas Priestlet's stick to Metal extras. Another favorite from my 80's memories. KMET again played this one more than KLOS. This is picture perfect Motorbioke riding Metal. Interesting to see that singingrulebritannia and I might have actually agreed on ranking some Metal in the top 10. Stick It - Great WhiteAnother one I used to love back then. Heard it one the same metal show were I first previewed "You Think You're Tuff" from Ratt. This song was another rebellious Heavy Metal anthem full of killer guitar riffs and even one big ultrasonic scream Jack Russell belts out right after the guitar solo, and after the last chorus. Much fiercer than "Once Bitten....".Rock My Nights Away - Michael Schenker GroupThis time we head out to London for MSG. Michael Schenker actually brought aboard the Scorpions guitar vibes to their music. I wasn't the biggest fan of their music, but fits nicely on one of my heavy metal mix tapes. The Heat - HeartNext couple of songs are from 'Up The Creak' soundtrack. I never saw this movie, but heard it had a pretty sweet soundtrack. This was a first time listen, but delivers with the same hard rock stride Heart songs always did back then. That guitar works on this song are sweet murder. Is That Nancy? Up the Creek- Cheap TrickThis is the title tack from the movie of the same name. The guitar riff in the intro reminds me of another song. Sounds like your basic Powerpop Cheap Trick delivery. I definitely prefer the Heart song, but I knew of this one. Robin Zander sounds great, I still would put it below "Heat". Dammit where is that main guitar riff from? Hunters of the Night - Mr. MisterBreaking away from Metal for this a second to preview this pre "Broken Wings" song of theirs'. This was surprisingly good. Fast bass lines remind of today's Night Flight Orchestra. A lot of NRG ,and vocal tones resembling a little of Steve Winwood. I think this would have done rather well on this RD. Has the Knight Rider soundtrack vibe. Jailbreak - AC/DCI'll take "Jailbreak" on any year of rock. WE also get Bon Scott leading the Aussie pack on this fire fueled guitar riff extravaganza. remember how I ranked Kiss "Rock and Roll All Nite" at #1 just because it showed up on a 90's RD. I might have done the same with this song. I Do Wanna Know - REO SpeedwagonI remember this one from the top 40 charts. This was their blusey style rock right before they rebooted their sound for Hi Infidelity. The song is ok. Kevin sounds great, but the song can get a bit hokey at times. Like that "S.O.B" from Nathaniel Rateliff & the sweathogs. Not really my groove. Hands Across the Sea - Modern EnglishThis certainly can't hold a candle up to "I Melt With You" nor even "Ink and Paper". It's not too bad tho. familiar vocals makes it sound more catchy, but after a while most of these Alternative rock songs from the 80's start to all sound similar. I would have liked to rank this one on Modern Rock RD, but not here. Tied up in Love - Ted NugentHead bangers Ball. Probably my favorite childhood music program. This is fierce. Look I don't care what musicians do or preach about in their time off so long as it doesn't affect their ability to make great music. I'm here for their jams, Videos and nothing more. THis one rocks hard. First think we notice is that this jams rides on another Metal song's melos. I'll give you a free Ted Nugent CD if you guess which song. Give up? Ozzy Osbourne - "Flying High Again" particularly the guitar refrain that takes the song to fad out. This song kinda continues on that riff and if you slow down "Flying High Again" you can actually mix in this jam. How about Brian Howe on vocals giving the album a great sounding Bad Company vibe. I'm actually glad it didn't make the top 100. It most likely would have got tanked for Ted's "shenanigans" alone. I've Got You - The KindI never heard this song or band before, but it was pretty good. Sounds like something right off Andy Taylor's solo album. Maybe a little Loverboy in the Bluesy bass chords. The problem with some of these songs is that they rely too much on other bands' music styles. In the end while catchy it's still pretty forgettable. Gotta Let Go - Lita Fordlet's close out tonight with some fierce female Metal. The heavy side of Lita before she went Pop Metal. I actually loved "Kiss Me Deadly", but she had a more fierce vibe on this song. Just like the Great White jam from earlier. Of course this was another favorite of mine. Lita wrote all the songs on her album so you know they were gonna be mostly about guys. I really don't care what they song about as long as they sound like anthems and rock. This jam certainly does that.

80. Back Where You Belong - .38 Special.38 Special at #80 with their most "Caught Up In You" sounding song. This RD is already starting to loose more credibility than a government official. This was is melodic Southern rock fire with some of rock's most aesthetic vocal tones. Clear ,crisp and commanding. At least the Actual YE RD ranked the correct song higher. 79. Lights Out - Peter WolfIt's "lights Out" for Peter Wolf on this "rock" Rd. I didn't expect much from this RD for this song to begin with, but this song is loads of fun for me. I love how Peter kept the J.Geils Band vibe alive in this one. 78. Infatuation - Rod StewartNow see Rod Stewart is actually one of the Pop artists that would have been proper to upgrade on this list. THis song in particular brings Rod into a heavier sounding rock groove. A slight dancerock with the brass, but Rod's vocals are pure rock tones. The sex oriented lyrics are also right up Rod's alley. 77. Rock Me Tonite - Billy SquierI figured this RD would only cut Billy so much slack. For me a great song. The intro, the lyrics and especially the guitar strums. I love Billy's vocals the most, but the strums coupled with the synths gave the song wings. Also has one of my favorite everlasting fade outs. 76. A Fine, Fine Day - Tony CareyI knew this song quite well, but never really cared for it. Not particularly catchy nor fetching in the chorus, and the lyrics were super boring. Nothing I would be compelled to sing along to at all. About the only aspect I do enjoy are his vocals. I would certainly make up for this tank with the more aggressive and Rainbow sounding "I Won't Be Home Tonight". Now feast your ears on this jam. 75. Footloose - Kenny LogginsNot the Pop song I would have wanted to see bow out first, but yeah. I love this song. Crashed into my top 3 in 1984, but I really didn't need to have it on this Rd. Sounds great on POp, but maybe a bit too hokey sandwiched in between some Krokus and Ratt. So yeah not complaining either. 74. I Can't Hold Back - SurvivorThis one didn't quite reach my top 10. A great song, but I think they finally got this idea right with "High On You" 73. High on Emotion - Chris de BurghThe only aspect of this song that felt like it had a heartbeat was the chorus. I love how he holds the notes in that one. Other than that it was pretty mediocre to me. 72. No Way Out - Jefferson StarshipI should be getting a lot more perfect ranks than this. Just watch. I should come closest to the actual RD ranks. This is another example of a song where the band finally got this ballad style right on "Sara". THis is still like 10x more suitable for this format than "Time AFter Time" but whatever. 71. When You Close Your Eyes - Night RangerI'm gonna create a meme where it shows PULSE fly swatting any song with a powerful melodic melody, because this is beyond ridiculous. 8D This song is a wonder to sit back ,and listen to with your earphones. In the dark it would be even better. Then you could picture your past loves or partners, and the good times you shared. You should be getting lost in the lyrics ,and the amount of emotion delivered through Jack Blades and Kelly Keagy's duo vocals. 70. Heaven - Bryan AdamsI would have put this one in my top 15 on a pop countdown. No doubt about it. It's a powerful Rock ballad with fantastic vocals, but I did find it a bit hard to squeeze into my top 40. It still remains one of my Bryan Adams top favorites 69. I Want a New Drug - Huey Lewis & the NewsNot a exactly a tank, but damn this one is the best one ever. The way the lyrics fall together make perfect sense. It's upbeat and ultra catchy. Huey is at his vocal peaks on this one. The guitar solo should have automatically sprung this one up the list. 68. I Can't Drive 55 - Sammy Hagarthe muscle car soundtrack of the 80's. Another Metal song with lyrics sooo hot that it didn't need any hot blondes. This song is fun too. If you like like to drive fast than you can relate to it and feel that special connection with the lyrics. Another song that almost didn't make my top 20. The list was packed. Now I would like to thank all those who found the fierceness, and power of this song unavoidable. The rest of you can go stand over there with your face towards the wall. 67. Pink Houses - John MellencampJohn Cougar Mellencamp making Heartland sound better than ever. His lyrics were always some great storytelling, but also never boring. 66. On the Dark Side - John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown BandFor me a one hit wonder machine. This song was always my poor man's Bruce Springsteen favorite. I love getting the highest ranks for a bunch of these rock calssics. 65. Got a Hold on Me - Christine McVieAgain not a song I hate, but didn't really care for it either. My favorite vocal song from Christine could possible be "Hold Me". Not the best sound for this RD, but still ore suitable than Cyndi Lauper. I'll stand by that fact til the end. 64. Slow an' Easy - WhitesnakeThis would probably be the easiest Metal song for me to sacrifice. I wasn't all too familiar with it to begin with. Great vocals and music, but not on par with my favorite Whitesnake songs. I would have put "Love Ain't No Stranger" much higher. True story. 63 . If This Is It - Huey Lewis & the NewsThis band had a knack for giving the Doo wop sound that melodic punch. Easily one of my favorite songs 62. New Girl Now - Honeymoon SuiteTheir first song to ever grace the MTv waves. For me their best , because it's in many ways there heaviest. The strums are in perfect harmony with the background pianos. That's the Canadian rock groove right there. Also the "Girl" lyrics are my favorite types for Rock music. They just make perfect sense when sung by guys. The Cars excelled in songs about "girls". That's what I would sing about. 61. The Heart of Rock & Roll - Huey Lewis & the NewsAll three Huey Lewis songs out before the top 50. The heart of Rock & Roll is certainly not alive in this RD, but the heart of slow pop ballads certainly is. Not at all happy with these reveals. Too many AOR classics got dumped on for no apparent reason. It is a time for a handful of POp songs to bid their farewell on this RD...and that is that.

Man, Huey Lewis & The News were done dirty. What's wrong with "I Want A New Truck" and "Is This A Zit"?
