Ariana Grande’s Positions spends a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as the set earned 82,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 12 (down 53%), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It bowed atop the list a week ago with 174,000 units earned. It’s Grande’s second chart-topping album to spend two weeks at No. 1, following Thank U, Next, which spent a total of two weeks in the lead (its debut week, and second week – Feb. 23 and March 2, 2019). Positions is Grande’s fifth No. 1 album overall. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Nov. 21-dated chart (where Positions holds at to No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Nov. 17. For all chart news, follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Of Positions’ 82,000 units earned in the tracking week ending Nov. 12, SEA units comprise 73,000 (down 43%, equaling 99.5 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs), 8,000 comprise album sales (down 81%) and 1,000 comprise TEA units (down 61%). Pop Smoke’s former No. 1 Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon rises 3-2 with 57,000 equivalent album units earned (down 5%). With Positions and Shoot for the Stars both released via Republic Records, the company holds the top two for the eighth time in the last three months. (Shoot for the Stars was released via Victor Victor Worldwide/Republic Records.) The Kid Laroi hits a new high on the Billboard 200, as his F*ck Love album surges to a new peak of No. 3 (up from No. 81 a week ago), following the set’s deluxe reissue on Nov. 6 with seven bonus tracks (including tunes featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Marshmello and Machine Gun Kelly). For tracking and charting purposes, all versions of the album are combined, and the set earned 52,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 12 (up 458%) -- a new one-week high for the artist and the album. The original 15-track album was released on July 24 and debuted at No. 8 on the Aug. 8-dated chart with 40,000 units. Both the No. 8 debut and the 40,000 units represented high-water marks for the artist until this week. Luke Combs’ former No. 1 What You See Is What You Get is a non-mover at No. 4 on the new Billboard 200, with 46,000 equivalent album units earned (down 12%). King Von’s Welcome to O’Block surges into the top 10, rising 13-5 in its second chart week, following the rapper’s death on Nov. 6 (the first day of the latest chart’s tracking week). The set earned 44,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 12 (up 69%). The album bowed on the chart a week ago with 26,000 units. Welcome to O’Block is the first top 10 for the late artist (born Dayvon Daquan Bennett), who died at 26 after being shot in an Atlanta nightclub. NAV tallies his fourth top 10 album, as his mixtape Emergency Tsunami storms in at No. 6 with 42,000 equivalent album units earned. He previously visited the region with Good Intentions (No. 1 this May 23), Bad Habits (No. 1; April 6, 2019) and Reckless (No. 8; June 2, 2018). Of Emergency Tsunami’s starting sum, 35,000 comprise SEA units (equaling 46.4 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs), 7,000 comprise album sales and a negligible figure comprises TEA units. Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die falls one rung to No. 7 (39,000 equivalent album units; down 1%), Lil Baby’s My Turn is steady at No. 8 (33,000; down 5%), the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical rises a spot to No. 9 (31,000; up 5%) and Taylor Swift’s Folklore jumps 27-10 (29,000; up 52%) thanks to a surge in vinyl album sales from Swift's official webstore. The set sold 14,000 copies across all formats for the week (up 309%), with vinyl albums comprising 9,000 of that sum. The vinyl edition of the album has been available to order since Folklore was released on July 24, but its manufacturing and shipment was delayed. (Sales of physical albums only count once they are fulfilled to the customer.)

Rapper King Von, 26, Killed in Atlanta Nightclub Shooting By Gil Kaufman 11/6/2020 Click to copy www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/9479524/king-von-dies-age-26-obituaryChicago-bred drill rapper King Von (born Dayvon Daquan Bennett) has died at age 26 after being shot at an Atlanta nightclub, the Atlanta Police Department confirms to Billboard. The rapper was reportedly hospitalized in critical condition early Friday morning following a shootout at the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta, which resulted in the deaths of three men, according to the police report. The shootings took place around 3:00 a.m. when an argument between two groups turned into a fight in the parking lot, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek initially told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Police said in an additional statement that investigators believe "the rapper was shot during the initial shootout between the two groups of males, prior to police responding and attempting to stop the shooting." Bennett arrived at a hospital shortly after the shooting via private vehicle, the statement continued. The investigation remains open. How King Von Used His Time in Jail to Become a Better Rapper Update: Reps for Bennett have issued the following statement: "King Von, a rising rapper known for his visceral storytelling, passed away in Atlanta on November 6th. Born and raised in Chicago's O'Block neighborhood, Dayvon Bennett emerged from difficult circumstances to become one music's most promising stars. The 26-year-old artist left us just as the world was beginning to grasp the depths of his talents. Last week, Von shared his debut album, Welcome To O'Block, offering a cinematic and vivid account of his origin story, providing an inside perspective on neighborhood life and the trauma wrought by the criminal justice system. King Von was a luminary — a natural storyteller, an artist on the verge of superstardom who had so much more to give the world. He overcame myriad unjust circumstances yet remained steadfastly dedicated to giving back to the community that raised him, O’Block. He was a devoted father, a deeply loyal friend, and a man who took care of his people before himself. We are heartbroken for his family, his friends, his team, and his fans. Long live King Von." Samantha Fish, King Von & Gashi Debut on Emerging Artists Chart Bennett was known for his urgent, sing-song style on tracks such as his gritty breakout single "Crazy Story" and the 2019 autobiographical tale of his legal travails, "What It's Like." He subsequently released two more versions of "Crazy Story" in 2019. Bennett grew up on the South side of Chicago and was childhood friends with fellow MCs Lil Durk and Chief Keef. The MC had a string of run-ins with the law beginning as a teenager in 2012, when he was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm. In 2014, the then-16-year-old faced a count of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in a Chicago-area shooting that resulted in the death of one man and the wounding of two others. After beating the case when witnesses didn't testify in the case, Von turned to hip-hop in 2017, singing with Lil Durk's OTF (Only the Family) label. He made his first splash on 2018's Only the Family Involved Vol. 2 compilation, where his vivid storytelling on "War With Us," "Crazy Story" and "Man Down" stood out amid tracks that featured such other soon-to-be stars as Tee Grizzley and YNW Melly. Von was in the spotlight again last summer when Lil Durk put him on the single "Like That" from his Love Songs 4 the Streets 2 album, and his next release came last September with "What It's Like" from his Grandson, Vol. 1 album, which debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Samantha Fish, King Von & Gashi Debut on Emerging Artists Chart After teaming up with Sada Baby on the single "Pressin'" earlier this year, Von dropped "Took Her to the O" in February and the album LeVon James in March while still on house arrest for two outstanding cases. The collection featured collaborations with Polo G, Tee Grizzley, NLE Choppa, Lil Durk and YNW Melly and earned him a spot on Billboard's 2020 Hip-Hop/R&B Artists to Watch list. His most recent single was "I Am What I Am," which dropped in October in advance of last week's release of his Welcome to O'Block album.

It appears you may be right.
This may be the first time the top 2 sellers miss the top 10 completely.

yeah - every so often the top sales album misses the top 10 - the lowest position so far has been #16, if the HITS position holds for TXT the top seller will be #21

As far as I can tell, it looks like what Gary posted for the Billboard 200 is correct.

Looks like Luke Combs is the hottest country star right now. May not be saying much, given country’s overall decline, but he’s actually made quite a name for himself.

I think his peak is humongous, and definitely more than 'may not say much'. His debut album is still top 40 after 3 and a half years. He's having one of the biggest chart runs for a Country star ever. Also the fact he debuted #2 on Hot 100 with a song last month. Even when Country was much better selling that was unheard of.

^Yeah. If anything, Luke Combs has proven that Country as a musical genre can have some decent streaming in addition to sales and radio.

It seems like country isn’t as dominate, but it depends on what you’re measuring. It’s true that only 2 country albums have topped the Billboard 200 this year, and you can argue that SPS paints a skewed image, but country hasn’t done much better in the sales department.
Most of the acts topping Country Airplay this year aren’t all that well known by the mainstream media. They don’t have albums that opened that high on the Billboard 200, and generally, there’s a disconnect between pop and country, more-so than even 5 years ago. To me, names like Lady A and Keith Urban were household names like Lady Gaga. I’m not sure if Matt Snell or Chris Janson are quite that household. Reminds me of how country was on the outside looking in during the 80’s; only crossover acts maintained presence in the mainstream world.
Hope that helps explain what I meant.

If anyone thinks country is on the decline, wait until they see the numbers Morgan Wallen will put up soon with his double album coming in January

^He's an up and comer. And releasing a double album is similar to having a deluxe edition ensuring greater numbers in streaming.
Probably the biggest recent change that has affected established Country artists has been not having concert album bundles.

The appearance that 'country is on the decline' is likely that streaming has been kind of a rap-fans only thing. But that looks like it is changing, more songs of the country genre are hitting streaming chart

Minogue scores her best sales week in over a decade with the arrival of “Disco.”
Tomorrow X Together arrives at No. 1 on Billboard’s Album Sales chart, as the group’s Minisode1: Blue Hour EP bows atop the chart dated Nov. 21. The effort sold 18,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 12, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data -- the best sales week yet for the South Korean pop quintet. Blue Hour is the group’s fourth charting title on Album Sales, and first to reach the top 10.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Kylie Minogue lands her best sales week in a decade with the No. 2 debut of Disco, a pair of Christmas albums from Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton see big gains, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles jump back into the top 10 and NAV’s new mixtape Emergency Tsunami starts at No. 9.
Billboard’s Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The Album Sales chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Pure album sales were the measurement solely utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units.
Sales of Tomorrow X Together’s Blue Hour were buoyed by the availability of four deluxe physical CD variants of the album (one of which was a Target-exclusive version), with 98% of its first-week sales coming from its CD editions. The remaining 2% were driven by digital album sales. Blue Hour was released via BigHit/Republic.
The CD editions were issued in collectible packaging containing such items as a poster, stickers and a photobook, as well as three randomized items (photocard, postcard and a photo).
Blue Hour also debuts at No. 25 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the group’s first top 40 effort. (The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, combining album sales, track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units.)
Kylie Minogue dances onto the Album Sales chart at No. 2 with her latest studio effort, Disco. The set was released via Darenote/BMG and sold 15,000 copies in its first week -- the pop superstar’s best sales week in over a decade. Minogue last sold more in a week when her 2010 album Aphrodite launched with 18,000 sold (chart dated July 24, 2010). Her latest also lands Minogue her best rank on Album Sales, one-upping the No. 3 debut and peak of Fever in 2002.
Disco was released in a number of configurations, including a standard 12-track edition and a 16-track deluxe version. Overall, Disco sold a little over 6,000 digital album downloads and nearly 9,000 in physical sales (across multiple CD, vinyl and cassette editions).
Disco performed well on vinyl, debuting at No. 5 on the Vinyl Albums chart with 3,500 sold. The vinyl LP was available in a standard black edition, along with color variants exclusive to Minogue’s webstore, Barnes & Noble and Spotify.
For fans of the old school cassette format, the cassette edition of Disco sold 500 copies in the U.S.
Disco also debuts at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart, securing Minogue her highest charting effort on that tally since 2010, when Aphrodite debuted and peaked at No. 19 (that July 24).
At No. 3 on the latest Album Sales chart, Carrie Underwood’s holiday set My Gift rises five spots with 14,000 copies sold (up 4%). The album will likely continue to see weekly gains as the Christmas holiday approaches.
Taylor Swift’s Folklore vaults from No. 37 to No. 4 with 14,000 sold (up 309%) thanks to a surge in vinyl album sales from her official webstore. Vinyl album sales comprise 9,000 of Folklore’s sales for the week. The vinyl edition of the album has been available to order since Folklore was released on July 24, but its manufacturing and shipment was delayed. (Sales of physical albums only count once they are fulfilled to the customer.)
Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You falls 2-5 in its third week on Album Sales with 13,000 sold (down 37%).
Notably, Letter to You is selling a bit better than Springsteen’s last studio album, 2019’s Western Stars. Letter debuted with 92,000 sold, while Western bowed with 61,500. Then Letter moved 21,000 in its second week, while Western sold 14,000 in week two. And, in their third weeks, Letter sold 13,000, while Western sold 10,000.
Letter to You has sold 126,000 copies in its first three weeks. Western sold 85,000 copies in its first three weeks, and its total sales to date stand at 149,000. If Letter continues its sturdy weekly sales performance, it could surpass Western’s total sales.
Dolly Parton’s holiday album A Holly Dolly Christmas jingles 14-6 on the new Album Sales chart with 11,000 copies sold (up 38%), while Harry Styles’ Fine Line leaps 23-7 with a little more than 8,000 sold (up 58%) thanks in part to an increase in vinyl LP sales. Ariana Grande’s Positions dips from No. 1 to No. 8 in its second week on the list, with 8,000 sold (down 81%).
NAV’s new mixtape Emergency Tsunami breezes in at No. 9 in with 7,000 copies sold in its first week, while NCT’s Resonance, Pt. 1 climbs 15-10 with nearly 7,000 sold (though its down 5%).

A spotlight continues to shine on the Album Sales chart. Just wondering why, outside of brief mentions within articles, it's taken so long.

^Chart clicks on the Billboard website, maybe? The more views a chart gets, the greater chance it gets an article?
Keith is old school so maybe he was just looking for a good excuse?
