"Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" was written by Jim Steinman for Meat Loaf's 1977 album, "Bat Out of Hell." It reached No.11 on the Billboard Hot 100. It remains his second highest-charting hit in the US, behind "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That.)" In the U.K., it peaked at No.32.
This is actually my favourite Meat Loaf record. I love the idea that Jim Steinman couldn't come up with something simple in the vein of Elvis Presley's "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You," so the best he could do was twist it to, "I want you, I need you but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you, don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad." Brilliant stuff, really.

This is definitely a brilliant song lyrically. While I quite enjoy Meat Loaf's version, I'm kinda partial to Bonnie Tyler's 1995 remake.

Currently #1 on iTunes. Meat Loaf controls the top 3.
