Random tidbit of useless info: Terri Clark likes to cover John Anderson's songs because it gives her the chance to do her vocal impression of him

Mindy felt like such a big deal during that first album! I remember her being dubbed the next Shania.
It was all downhill from there. :'(

I have no idea why, but I can remember the first time I heard "Ten Thousand Angels" and it was instant love. I knew I had to get the album when it came out and it remains one of my favorite debut albums of all time.

Mindy McCready had such a beautiful voice and immense talent. It is a shame that her demons got the best of her and derailed what could've and should've been a much bigger career. My favorite album is her self-titled from 2002, with "Maybe, Maybe Not" being my favorite song of hers, but her debut album was STACKED. It's unfortunate she never replicated its success and became more known for her personal struggles instead of her music.

I don't know much about Neal McCoy, as he's another one whose commercial prime happened long before I had even learned my shapes and letters. But this exists, which is about all I need to know about him... Much like with Neal, I'd have to assume Trace's politics may have gotten factored into some of those lower rankings even though we're basing this off of their output from the 90s. Speaking for myself, I took that part out of the equation and tried my best to just rank them based on that. Don't let my low ranking for Trace fool you though as I do consider him to be an icon of this decade, but I just thought more of the others I put ahead of him. Trace only had 2 albums out in the 90s. Granted the singles from both were very strong but when you compare them to the output from a lot of the artist on this list it does lend to him being near the bottom. For me if I removed his politics I may have had him like 5 spots higher. Most of his commercial success came from the early 2000s ("More", "I'm Tryin'", "Then They Do", "Hot Mama", etc) As for Neal I definitely ranked him low for "Take A Knee" and I don't regret it. I love some of his early career but I have a hard time enjoying them ever since he released that atrocity so good riddance I haven't met many country artists, but I did get the chance to meet Aaron Tippin when he performed at our county fair back home in Nebraska. He saw that I was with a disabled friend and after the end of the show his tour manager came up to us and asked if we'd like to come backstage. He is without a doubt a class act and is incredibly personable. Not surprised to see Aaron Tippin so low but he deserved better. He was my first concert and I had a similar experience as you as my sister was disabled and I was pushing her wheelchair when someone from his team came over and asked us if we'd like to come backstage so we got to meet him. Very nice and he put on a great show!

Aaron Tippin just looks and sounds like someone's dad who got famous on accident. Like he just wandered into a recording studio one day when he was delivering packages for UPS and he was singing while stacking the boxes and the mic just happened to be on at the time and then they were like 'we have ourselves a smash!!1!" I like his voice and some of his songs, but everything about him just feels comically goofy.

I'm a little surprised to not see John Michael Montgomery out yet but he was more successful than all those out (90's wise) so I guess that's carrying him.
Other than a handful of albums among those out I own all their music, all great artists (Trace & Neal I have to ignore their personal lives) but I understand them all being out where they are.
Aaron is the one who I think would be higher if those less familiar with him actually took a deeper dive in his discography, he had a really great run of albums in the 90's. Someone should do a rankdown for him haha

Let's go ahead and jump into the next round! The first artist to leave tonight will likely come as a bit of surprise to some while some others will be overjoyed. Who could it be?!

I love Kenny but he is a 2000’s artist in my mind so I couldn’t rank him higher than #9.

Some of my favorite Kenny songs are from his first Greatest Hits album, I definitely ranked him based off that.

Can anyone confirm he's a huge asshole? I've heard horror stories my entire life.
I loved T-R-O-U-B-L-E and Tell Me I Was Dreaming back in the day though.

"A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" and "Ain't That Lonely Yet" are a great one-two punch in his discography. I love their production and melodies.

Travis Tritt’s “Trump derangement syndrome” tweets were wacky and off-putting. 1 or 2 songs I like by isn’t enough to get him much higher on my ranking.
