There are way better R&B singers out there that deserve more success and airplay than Chris Brown's mediocrity.

This current #1 song in America slaying: Spotify - #124 Apple Music - #752 iTunes - #143 Radio - <0.200m audience
This wouldn't have even charted for 3 weeks without website sales.

Ah yes, Life Goes On is a song that everyone and their grandparents know. It's absolutely not a song that went #1 because of how frontloaded it is due to mass-buying from stans and Billboards flawed formula. It is heard everywhere in your local stores, malls, restaurants, and your mom's playlist.

I hate to admit it, as much as I hate Chris Brown as a person, he keeps delivering bangers. Stop trying to force feed me pop girl music Pulse. His songs are just too good. baby girl nobody's tryna force feed you shit

I think it should be able to challenge Trollz for the biggest drop from #1 in the Hot 100 for a non-holiday song. It would...were it not for the D2C sales, which are projected to number around 5 dozen and could end up securing the song a top 15 slot or even challenge for the top 10 still. Honestly, I hope this gets people to put Billboard & Nielsen's feet to the fire to actually fix sales (be it capping the per-customer count to 1 instead of 4, removing D2C, removing physicals, downweighting the metric, or some combination of the prior), seeing as it appears they'll be doing their annual changes on the tracking week starting January 1.

Radio has never stopped supporting Chris Brown, as opposed to abandoning basically all female artists that have started in the 00s. pop radio hasn't supported him since 2013...Go crazy is his first song since 2013 who reached top 15 on pop radio and it's still rising

Go Crazy is a nice catchy song and i'm glad its doing fine. Rihanna forgave him so who am i to hold grugdes towards him? Right! It's our own choice if we want to listen to him. I'm cleary aware of what he did, and I can separate his personal from the music. Now if was on some "I beat women up and ion give a s**t" in countless songs, then yeah. Its personal preference at the end of the day. Should we be shunned for it? No. And it's people's own choice if they want to shun you for it.

I keep seeing Chris Brown get hits but tbh I've managed to avoid them all since probably "Look at Me Now".
It's the streaming era and it's never been easier to ignore stuff you don't wanna support. Outside of maybe "Despacito" and "Shape of You" kind of stuff. I don't think I heard the full "Old Town Road" song more than two or three times.
Also at one point as a chart follower you start to accept that trash sometimes goes onto become a hit, and that's ok.

TOTC says that this week’s top 50 is expected to contain around half Christmas songs, which is roughly the same as the week of January 4, 2020. Just ridiculous, and a bad sign for the current music market even considering the time of year.
Personally, I’m going to stop following the weekly Hot 100 super-closely until all those songs leave in early January. In the meantime, I’d appreciate if somebody here more knowledgeable than me on chart points can make a weekly “Hot 50” listing the biggest non-Christmas songs of the week, especially since recurrent rules are messing that aspect up (i.e. songs are leaving too early because of Christmas songs pushing them out).

^ See I don't understand why people say songs are going recurrent too early when Billboard let songs re-enter after Christmas last year. I'm sure they'll do it again this year as well.

Well, people need an escape from their current reality. Plus, the holiday songs are nostalgic since they bring memories of better times. Also, if the current non-holiday songs are doing poorly compared to the holiday ones, that reflects poorly on the former more than good for the latter.

And they absolutely will, I just mean to say all this hypothetically. Heck, if the Christmas songs never charted last year, Sucker and I Don't Care would have easily repeated on the 2020 YE.

So glad Jhene is slowly becoming a radio darling with P*$$Y FAIRY and B.S. being sleeper hits on the radio. I hope this means a resurgence for R&B in the mainstream and R&B artists will get regular airplay (hopefully without C**** B****)

I honestly think Christmas week everything that’s not above #20 is going recurrent 😭 It depends ... for example, songs which will have 20 or fewer week then, the worst that can happen to them is dropping out without going recurrent. Obviously, those with 21 or more weeks are subject to the top 50 threshold to avoid going recurrent and then there would be those with 52 or more weeks (Blinding Lights and I Hope) are subject to the top 25 threshold.
