Obviously it is still pretty early to determine this song's future but I am not feeling great with this song only getting 2 adds after add date last week. Maybe I am just over thinking this but the start for this single feels underwhelming.

Obviously there’s plenty of time to build momentum, but there doesn’t seem to be much interest from radio out of the gate.

Maybe I am just over thinking this but the start for this single feels underwhelming. Agree 100%. The main reason betty got as high as it did was from all of the buzz it had upon it being released, but as time went on that buzz faded and the song stalled. If this one is lacking excitement from the beginning I have a hard time seeing this doing much of anything.

This song is absolutely fantastic, and is easily my favorite thing she's done in years. Sad to see there doesn't seem to be much momentum for this song yet, because I would love to hear this on my country station honestly. Hopefully things will pick up for this song eventually.

Good for this song that it debuted but once again this only got 2 adds on country radio this week on Mediabase and this song is only on the Airplay Chart due to audience heavyweight KKBQ, with this song only getting 4 adds since add date and only 29 stations on the panel out of 159 I still am not feeling great about this songs prospects unless it starts getting a lot more stations.

Yeah, we wish. It's Taylor Swift, so it's probably about abortion.

Yeah, we wish. It's Taylor Swift, so it's probably about abortion. Kindly get the f**k out of here with this mess. I don't give a damn what you think of Taylor Swift, but this post of yours is incredibly tone-deaf and appallingly offensive. Just repugnant.
Anyways, Taylor has been, on paper, gone from country music for so long that if album 10 was a country record I doubt she'd still even get to the place on this format that she was in 2006-13. The landscape has changed considerably since she left. Perhaps some sort of country show performance could help it, but the closest thing is the ACMs in April, and this is January. Holding out hope this song adds more stations and climbs soon.

Really, though- how many acts who are not making country albums, promote a track to country radio and it charts? Taylor is now five albums removed from the country genre. The fact that she has songs that can still get some airplay, even if they're not fro ma country album, is pretty notable.
I also agree that, even if she did stay in the country genre through her career, that her releases would not be seeing the kind of success she enjoyed in the earlier days.

Even when Sheryl Crow, Jewel, etc made country albums they didn't really get much airplay (and honestly, their country albums weren't far removed from their normal ones). I think Steven Tyler did one too? Darius Rucker is the one who managed to truly cross over.

I actually own all her albums but evermore. Taylor's music has recently has gotten better to me as she seems to be leaning more toward the adult alternative sound. I really thought the collab with Bon Iver "exile" was going to top the AAA chart.

If Taylor Swift released a full-blown country album as her next project and completely leaned into that for promo, it would be a big success, even if it weren't on the level of her prime country music days. This sounded like a hit and I'm surprised it isn't getting a bit more traction, but by the same token, it's basically a follow-up single to a song that wasn't radio-friendly and floundered in the 30s from an album not marketed to the country genre. Radio hopped on "betty" right off the bat because it had front-loaded hype, but that same hype is not there for this release and PDs have less reason to want to play it. I hope it can slowly cut through and pick up more stations though because it deserves to be bigger than "betty" was imo.

This is so good, she honestly should have poached it to a female who has some good will on the country charts right now

Holds at No. 60 in its second week on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Per Mediabase, two additional adds this week.

Ugh! I am not too crazy about this song as most of you guys (I was rooting for Betty) but it's sad how a single actually released to country radio from her, is faring this poor :(

Maybe the subject matter is a bit "strong" for the format?

"Goodbye Earl" was a huge hit as were similar songs by Carrie Underwood and others.

Maybe the subject matter is a bit "strong" for the format? Nah, I think it's the lack of hype. "Betty" being thrown out to country radio was a nice surprise treat for them after years away, but they just have no 'obligation' so to speak to play another single from her this time around. This is basically like a 2nd single following an underperformer, and from a non-country record. There was benefit to playing "Betty" initially, but there isn't the same benefit to picking up this one, unfortunately. It sounded like a hit, but the more I look at all the factors, the less surprised I am that it's not quite taking off. She'd need to promote this one more if she wants it to do anything significant, and even then, who knows.

Maybe the subject matter is a bit "strong" for the format? This song gives heavy Carrie Underwood vibes. It's very similar (I think) in particular to "Two Black Cadillacs," and TBC is a song about a wife and mistress who literally kill the man they're both involved with when they find out they're both involved with him. Carrie sent the song to #2 on Billboard's Country Airplay. It's likely just Taylor--or, to better phrase it, the difference between "betty" and this song. "betty" had the built-up notoriety of its parent album being such a huge surprise, which is part of why it did as well as it did before beginning to stall out. This song just doesn't have that same notoriety, because while evermore was also a surprise release, its sound is in the same vein as folklore, which had the upper hand of being a bigger surprise due to the sudden shift in genres when compared to Lover. I'd give the song a few more weeks to get going, because "betty" also debuted at #60 on Country Airplay, but I'm starting to suspect it's not going to do as well as "betty" did. Mind you, I hope I'm wrong cause I'm always here for Taylor having post-country success.

I think it’s just that Taylor isn’t committed to the format like every other country artist is. If she were to record a country album and actually work it to country radio I think she would get back to having country hits.

I agree that Taylor would probably have to commit fully to returning to country to get a decent chance at success on country radio... but I'm also not sure what's in it for her in doing that.

Not to be off topic but what did Cardigan peak on Pop? I am feeling too lazy to sift through pages and pages on the CHR page.

It's probably a combination of factors, one of them being her not recording country albums, as mentioned. Also, the lack of videos for the country releases do not help.

Re-enters Billboard's Country Airplay chart at a new peak, No. 58. Perhaps the release of the "Love Story" re-recording helped boost it in some manner?

Look at Este getting her revenge and re-charting. Her impact.
