Last Christmas is such an instant earworm. Shame that it didn't get into Top 10 until maybe this year.
The lyrics is sad so I'm guessing maybe that's why the U.S not digging into it compared to other festive happy Christmas song? Or maybe it's just lack of exposure
And AIWFCIY is insane. The only thing that I can see breaking the record is next year's number.

And it features Rihanna, of course. Co-written and co-produced by Bruno Mars, and featuring a hidden guest appearance from Kendrick Lamar. Remix ft. Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean My industry sources are informing me that Outkast is "strongly considering" dropping a verse and Lauryn Hill might show up to "prove the haters wrong." In other news, Prince and MJ were reportedly seen near Beyonce's Bel-Air mansion covered in dirt. One could speculate they will be joining forces with Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna, Bruno, Kendrick Outkast, Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill, and Drake and Lil Wayne for some reason.

Also from totc: "Because of Christmas songs getting huge streaming increases this week compared to last week (ranging from 30-50% in terms of increase), the two songs initially projected to just stay on the Hot 100 (“Blinding Lights” & “Whats Poppin”) are now projected to go recurrent."

Not sure Billboard will let songs with 52+ weeks re-enter. They screwed Uptown Funk!’s chance being top 3(I guess) of all time before, and now Blinding Lights.

This song deserves to be Top #10 every year when Christmas hits tbh.

This has to be a first: the #1 song on Today's Top Hits isn't even charting top 200 on US Spotify ("Afterglow").
The fact this is from the artist with the most streamed album ever on Spotify nonetheless, lol. I'm sure his real lead single will be a good sized hit though. I know his label is thinking they really have to have a strong song as lead.

I wouldn't be surprised If it re-enters in the top 5, thanks to New Year's playlisting, radio and everything. Not to mention that BL would still be in the top 10 without the Xmas songs. Also, Billboard allowed Wake Me Up to re-enter at #34 in its 54th week, so I don't see a problem with BL re-entering top 10/5.

Now that I think about it, if that's true, what if that's what prevents Mariah from rebreaking the #1 record? Her song is already at 42 weeks charting. I'd think they'd let it continue to chart, but it might lose a week on the front end each year as it wouldn't be able to re-chart until it's top 25. But because it's a re-promotion of the song in a sense and it would be climbing and not falling, I'd think it would still re-chart. A lot of holiday songs will be in that situation if they keep charting, of course. "RATCT" will be at 38 weeks on the Hot 100 after Monday. "Jingle Bell Rock" is well over 30 weeks, too.

It was definitely due to Bruno Mars' performance during the Super Bowl halftime show. I remember being disappointed that the Grammys weren't able to help it reenter.

For the sakes of comparison, four holiday songs are in the top 6 of the Australian Singles chart, but the next one is at #19. Out of the top 50, fourteen holiday songs charted. AIWFCIY managed to be #1 for the third consecutive "Christmas" chart.

Wasn't Billboard a hot mess around Uptown Funk's time, in regards to what could and could not rechart. memory seems to tell me that Billboard claimed at the time a song took 2 weeks of gains before it could rechart. The song recharted on the March 5 2016 chart. That would have been the Grammy tracking week I believe. If So, then it did not chart after the Super Bowl and took the Grammy Awards before Billboard let it back on. Feel free to correct any faulty memories!

Yep, you're correct on why Uptown Funk returned. I checked the corresponding Billboard Breakdown episode on YouTube for that chart week and Mark did mention that it was because of the Grammys.

maybe she goes #50 the week after xmas... With one day of streaming and one day of airplay? Talk of the Charts @talkofthecharts Due to massive Christmas Day streams this tracking week, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey has a strong chance to stay on the Hot 100 after next week in the 30s.
