I feel like I only really care about "7empest" off of Fear Inoculum, at this point...but I won't deny that, when I listened to this song again, I found myself getting into it all over again.
Tool just weaves magic, man.

I thought this might get brought down a bit more over here, but I still thought it would be top three.
Wow.

Oh, give me a BREAAAAAAAAAAAAK
okay
I was kind of rooting for this, despite it being my lowest song in the top five. So glad this did as well as it did.

I've only been a casual fan of bmth before this but this wowed me when I first listened to it, from the industrial-y synths in the intro, the really catchy chorus, and the breakdown, this felt like a bunch of their sounds put together and it sounds awesome
I did not expect it to be in the top three at all, so I'll take it

Your final 2. Ohms Shakin' Off the RustTale of the Tape:Seven #1 rankings are still in. Only one poster can get a perfect top 2---myself These songs have a combined 34 top 10s. Bottom half rankings left are: dgarcia3377's 78, LBTrocks's 51 and 60, and ChicaCherry콜라's 62 and 90 In addition to the last 2 posters in the above stat, wheatsquares33, Doc Indie Party Rock, and Az Paynter have no top 10s left

2 vs. 7
I won't lie, I'll be ever so slightly disappointed if we don't see one of the results here, but I wouldn't really be too upset with either winner.

WHEW! So glad "Ohms" won lol. It's not bad at all, I like it fine. "Shakin' Off The Rust" however did not do it for me at all. peacebone and singingrulebritannia thank you both SO much for hosting! You guys were amazing! I had lots of fun! BTW peacebone your display name, I love it lmao. "King Kunta" is such a jam! I can only imagine it's your username cuz you love it too, lol.

It's finally over. Lord can breathe easy now. I will say that I really like "Shakin' Off the Rust", and I might like it more than "Black Holes", though I still like that song a lot, too. I would not have been all that upset if it had won at all. But it feels so good to see Deftones finally win one of these even if, the one time where they finally won, I didn't rank them #1. As always, singingrulebritannia and peacebone, wonderful job co-hosting! I feel like I've said this so often, at this point, but you guys really always help to make reveals more exciting and feel more eventful.

Year-End Closeness Rankdown Closeness Perfect Rankings And that's a wrap! As always, I'd like to thank everyone who submitted, watched reveals and posted. I wouldn't be as into hosting rankdowns without you folks. Since I had already hosted 2019 Triple A, I knew what it was like to head a current-year chart rankdown. But every chart brings its own unique and tantalizing flavor to the game we all know and love, and contrary to some of the naysayers, Active Rock is no different. I'm especially a fan of the fact that we improved on the list total from last year (24 to 26) and attracted some interest from people I never expected to care about this format. And of course, I would be remiss to not thank my co-host peacebone, whose new reveal-creating process saved us a shitload of time, and who kept the pressure on us evenly distributed so it wouldn't break either of us, lol. Speaking of Triple A, the 2020 edition is wrapping up its submission process right now, so if you haven't got enough of retrospectives yet, that will quench your thirst. Soon enough, we will return to the retro rankdowns (starting with 1983), of which we only have a few years to go on the Alternative and Mainstream Rock sides. I'm really looking forward to being able to say that we as a community wrapped up both of those huge projects. Now to say goodbye one final time to this year in Active Rock. Here's to time not changing these memories we made, and hopefully Pulse shall remain.

Ooo honestly these results were pretty solid! Really happy to see Ohms win, ngl it could've been my #1 here as I loved both my top 2 (not even upset about Caution going out at #4 lol) Thank you for hosting singingrulebritannia and peacebone ! Y'all did such a good job hosting this and made this such an enjoyable experience, especially for someone like me who hasn't branched out into active rock much before haha

10. Wolf Totem - The Hu f/ Jacoby ShaddixThis song is a bit strange. It's basically a folk Mongolian song. Not much metal to it, unless this is what Metal sounds like over there? This one was a bit weirder on the vocals. I don't mind foreign vocals as long as they sing to me. For example I like Nordic Metal war themed intros, but than again those are louder, faster and more commanding. also this is not the Jacoby cameo version. I might have ranked it a bit higher without his cameo. 9. Death by Rock and Roll - The Pretty Reckless...and there goes my #2. I mean aside from DIAMANTE this was the best Female Metal song we got this year. It's straight out Biker Metal. So much that She is even riding a motorbike on the cover art. Pure Badd ass. 8. Under the Graveyard - Ozzy Osbourne...and there goes my #1. Well this was fun. I'll be leaving now. Seriously what else was going to be my #1. This is the Prince of darkness doing what he does best dark Heavy metal. This had more Black Sabbath vibes than I remeber an Ozzy song having in like forever. He still sounds amazing to the note. 7. Nero Forte - SlipknotThis was great. Fierce, harsh and monstrous. I still like some of there prior songs better, but this was a great comeback. The music videos for this band are such a thrill to watch. I always love bands that go that extra step with the attire. Makes them sound all the more interesting than your average blue jeans and t-shirt band. 6. Shine a Little Light - The Black KeysGreat song. Slipped under my radar. I'm never gonna put this one in my top 10. Not when I have harder rock , and Metal songs to play with, but it easily makes my top 30 for the electric guitar aspects. 5. Pneuma - Tool This doesn't sound any different than all the other songs from this band I tanked in the past. Same sort of King Kong calling drums intro. Which would actually sound pretty cool in the upcoming King Kong vs Godzilla flick. I think music with this dark Alt Metal vibe would sound right at home in a horror movie soundtrack. Like a Zombie uprising scene. I could appreciate it that way , but as far as something I can sit ,and get listening pleasure from? Not gonna happen. 4. Caution - The KillersAnother great song. I didn't really care for the treatment it got on the Active format. A #35 peak seems harsh. Especially since it does have Killer guitars. Love that live version you posted. I know Brandon is the pretty one, but i would have loved more camera on the guitar player as he plays that last solo. 3. Ludens - Bring Me the HorizonThis sounds like the kind of rock music that is played in those S&M clubs. I've seen it in horror movies. I don't like it. The fact that my rank is so harshly lower than the rest doesn't surprise me at all. I don't like these sounds. To me it sounds like they are forcing instruments to sound chaotic ,and distorted, and it's an ear sore to me. Out of the newer stuff from this band I only like one song. "Mantra" 2. Shakin' Off the Rust - The Blue StonesThis is a cool jam. Closer to the Biker Metal stuff I like, but they also have good vocal tones. I also gave this one a few appearances on my weekly Metal chart. Easy top 30 on my list. 1. Ohms - Deftones Easily the most melodic I have heard from this band. Big top 5 hit on my Metal Chart. I've always like Chino's tones. It's the music that wasn't all that to me til this year. Good winner. Made my top 40. With my Metal Jams out of the way this was the best way to go ,and still have a strong Metal crown song. peacebone singingrulebritannia Great job with the hosting, art and music videos. I would appreciate more live videos like "Caution" just to get that different aspect of a song. As lawys I had a ball praising the songs I love and shanking the songs I hate.
