I find it funny that AIWFCIY is gonna be #8 on a chart dated January 9. The Billboard chart dates are so dumb. Well, guess who is #1 on the Rolling Stone's TOP 100 Popular songs chart for that same week: www.rollingstone.com/charts/songs/Also, 'Last Christmas' is #1 in the UK and the first non-Christmas song on the chart is at #9. People love Christmas music, even in the post-Christmas week. Charts are simply displaying the preferences of the general public.

Ew that Billboard is letting the website sales mess follow into 2021. Even more ew that they aren't adjusting the formula.
Another year with a dozen terribly suspicious "#1 hits" on the way.

We will never be free from Blinding Lights. I have it charting for at least 52 weeks in the top 10 at this point. The Super Bowl boost isn't too far behind.

The first full tracking week of the 2020 calendar year was when they removed non-song UGC, so if a formula change is coming, it should come next week.

Surprised but not entirely shocked AIWFCIY is still top 10, curious if any others didn't fall off.
Blinding Lights is going to be the all time #1 at this point. How high is it now?

Billboard will adjust the weights. otherwise the entire top ten in five or so years time will be new songs thst just wouldn't leave.

Is "Blinding Lights" technically the highest re-entry ever? I know "Million Reasons" reached #4, and "I Will Always Love You" reached #3 but that wasn't the week it re-entered IIRC.

Blinding Lights is going to be the all time #1 at this point. How high is it now? Well #3 as of this week, if the assumed multiplier is true. 2 Billboard articles are pointing that that is the case.
Here is tanooki's list from 2 weeks ago (last week it didn't chart).
the whole inverse formula needs to be reworked for the streaming era, otherwise it is favouring nowadays songs waaaaay too much. Lowering the multiplier even more fixes one problem, but opens another.

Yes, "Million Reasons" and LL Cool J's "Control Myself" had the previous record re-entries at #4. The Christmas songs avalanche is just snatching all these records up one way or another lol.

at this week's chart being basically airplay and sales only with streams so weak, they kinda all fall in between 8-16m, so streams don't end up mattering that much

I agree that it seems ridiculous to have "I Hope" still in the top 10 while "DAKITI", "34+35", and "Lemonade" aren't there despite having much better streaming numbers - just because radio hasn't caught on to them yet.

45,000 copies gets you a top 5 placement. Yes, but let's not forget that the song had 56 million in airplay as recent as Mid December. But yes, not much needed to get higher on the charts. And YAY at Dua Lipa in the Top 10! Can it Levitate any higher moving forward?

Wow, 2021 is starting with a POP wave, all these songs in the Hot 100 top 10 are all top 40 mainstream hits, ohh that's nice, hopefully it won't be short-lived.

I Hope and Go Crazy charted higher above 34+35 and Dakiti? Billboard HAS to change the formula immediately.

So I'm a big believer in streaming supremacy, but with how atrocious numbers were this week, I don't blame Billboard for how well I Hope et all are doing, thats on radio for being so conservative about finding new songs.
Dynamite is 100% there fault tho.

It's crazy that artists like Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and especially Lil Baby, Playboi Carti and Lil Durk, who should be streaming MONSTERS, are not doing enough to go top ten. It's not really a case of lack of songs, it's perhaps lack of people commuting to work or spending too much time home in general?
Very interesting to see Drake's numbers later.

January 10, 197601 06 Convoy - C.W. McCall (1st and only week at #1)02 02 I Write The Songs - Barry Manilow 03 03 Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To) - Diana Ross 04 04 Love Rollercoaster - The Ohio Players 05 01 Saturday Night - The Bay City Rollers 5 different #1 hits in January 1976, and all are occupying the Top 5 spots at the same. Iconic Today, when we get 5 #1 hits in a month, none of them are charting at the same time because the #1 during the first or second week of the month is already off the charts by the time we get to the end of the month. That's only true for certain artists (I won't mention any names, so don't come at me stans). In all fairness most of the #1 hits from earlier in the month would be hanging around the top 60 at least.
