---hello everyone!
as people revealed their top songs of 2020, I was inspired to compile my favourite songs of this year as well. this list is by no means revolutionary and the songs were chosen and ranked based on scrobbles but also personal preference.
due to this year's circumstances, I found myself able to participate in more Pulse activities, discovering a lot of songs through rankdowns & tourneys. I am thankful for people who introduced me to songs that I know I'll be listening to for a long time.
along with my favourite 25 songs of the year, I will also reveal my top 5 albums of the year.
---
I will only tag at the start of every 5 reveals. if anyone would like to be tagged/untagged, please let me know
I plan to get all of this out before the new year as well <3

songs 25
FRANCHISE | Travis Scott f/ Young Thug & M.I.A.
scrobbles: 72---I found this somewhat annoying when it came out lol, but I did keep coming back for M.I.A.'s part then I ended up liking the whole song. I love how "in your face" the production is. I can play this on repeat for a while.

Buenos Aires | Nathy Peluso
scrobbles: 71

one of the few songs on this list I discovered by myself lmao. while on the hunt for PAR songs, I stumbled upon Buenos Aires. her voice works really well with the laid-back sound, and I enjoy the little obscurities in the production that elevate the song for me.

The 1975 | If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)
scrobbles: 36
---
I think this was the first 1975 song that I fully enjoyed. the chorus is very catchy and that sax solo is so good! it holds such an upbeat energy throughout that I come back to the song whenever I need an energy boost.

Highs: Truer Than Ever, Cool For A Second, Southwark, Lonely After
by far the least-known in the top 5 albums, I am thankful to have discovered this little gem of an album this year. very smooth and consistent throughout. this would sound great on a drive with the top down and the wind.

although I've only recently discovered this song thanks to my good friend wrip , I know I'll be listening to this well into the next year. I enjoy his voice over the beaming production, and I love how the bridge builds. will be checking out Orca soon.

Punisher | Phoebe Bridgers
scrobbles: 268
---
Highs: Kyoto, Chinese Satellite, I Know The End, Savior Complex, Graceland Too
there's a certain feel, an etherealness on Punisher that I think is unique to it. the album takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions but also in sound. the production varies from harsh to gentle. I would argue with others that the album is actually quite dynamic and is captivating from start to finish.

well, that's it for now! I'll get through some more tomorrow <3

in stark contrast to Caution lol, Good News shines with its airiness. the simple melodies are so gorgeous, and you're taken to a different world in your mind for almost 6 minutes. beautiful.

I love how this song progresses! elegant intro, vibrant outro. my favourite part is when the strings come in at about the 3 minute mark, and then it goes into the bridge. pure bliss. this is my current favourite from WYP?
