I really wanted to choose something from that album to represent Kelsey Waldon (a John Prine's label artist, ICYMI), but I think her voice is polarizing no matter what. It ends up having 10th lowest SD is unexpected.
Anyway, embracing the imperfections of own life is a really fine songwriting trope.

In parallel universe Danger could be in Sturgill Simpson's A Sailor's Guide to Earth which is essentially his teaching to his son. The inclusion of London Orchestral Band is quite cool!

This deserved so much better. Mike and the Moonpies released one of the best and underrated albums of country in 2019, but that’s not to say they haven’t gone unnoticed. “You Look Good in Neon” is definitely my favorite from that album.

I'm fine with only losing 2 top 20s in the bottom 10, neither being super-high. I assume the worst results are yet to come, but I was fearing, like, multiple top 10 losses down here lol

Lost 2 of my top10 songs. While one was predictable, losing Randy Rogers was a bit disappointing. A bit surprised that Terrestrial hasn't left.

WOW "Rhinestoned" got done dirty, that was a great traditional country jam. Can't believe that's out so soon.
"Danger" has some super cool instrumentation! I wish it was just the instrumental tho, cuz vocally/melodically it is pretty boring lol
I hated all the other songs revealed tonight, lol.

The 30~21 set will see one and a half ties, the top two highest SD songs, two #40 losses and three #1 losses!

Just barely in top 30 is an album track from John Moreland's newest album. Three top 10 ranks and five bottom 5 ranks are gone
Terrestrial keeps the overall album theme of questioning his religion. The main feature is the bridge part where the creacendo and descendo of piano sound so gorgeous, but also the overall percussion-heavy production style that is not pop influenced but more electronic influenced is a fresh experiment in the indie scene.

About time, "Terrestrial" was all-around dreadful.

I saw John Moreland open for Jason Isbell a few years ago and was blown away. I was quite looking forward to his next album, but overall I was quite disappointed by the electronic direction he decided to experiment with on it.

"Terrestrial" was very cool. I like how it's written in an unusual time signature and has progressive rock/psychedelic folk influence in the layers of the arrangement. And melodic moments like that recurring descending harmonic are quite pretty. Since it at least escaped the bottom 10 I find it more funny than upsetting that some of you had such a viscerally negative reaction to the song for whatever reason. Lol oh well.

Ended up higher in the tie is Heartbreaker's Smile, another album track from Gabe Lee's second album Honky Tonk Hell. He is on the verge of breaking out due to pushes from Saving Country Music, Grady Smith, Spectrum Pulse and others. An interesting fact is he is of Asian descent (You can google his Chinese name)! It's the empathy that sells me, instead of the vengefulness or hatred towards an ex nowadays. Or maybe the characters go different ways peacefully? Also props for making catchy melody with barebone instruments. peacebone finally loses last place rank.

Next up is the first #1 loss and second highest SD song! Any guesses on who or what song will it be?

Tyler Childers or Kalie Shorr? I can see them having high SD.
Please no Kalie though!

I discovered Gabe Lee thanks mostly to Grady Smith raving on about him. Gabe’s voice and style for that matter is quite unique and therefore probably something that takes more than just a casual first-time listen to appreciate. The title track “Honky Tonk Hell” has thus far been my favorite from the album.

"Heartbreaker's Smile" was atrocious but "So Pretty" deserved better omg. Artists with pretty voices was a rarity in this RD, so this tune was a pleasant surprise, and the song is actually really pretty too which was a bonus yet it barely scarped the top 30 here. How disappointing.

Yup. Our first #1 loss comes from 🌺CountryLineDancer . I wish contemporary country sounds and writes as good as this. Instead of vengeful dramas, this appreciation of ex's new girlfriend is an underwritten possibility. I found this album through year-end country album list from Rolling Stone. It's a concept album not dissimilar to Brandy Clark's Big Day in a Small Town. I figure some members would like this type of vocal and songwriting, as shown by five top 10 losses (but also six bottom 5 losses)!

The songs that floated to the bottom of my list were mostly made up of stuff that sounded a bit generic to me. I didn't really dislike "So Pretty", but it also didn't give me anything noteworthy to remember it by, so I couldn't justify putting it higher in a rankdown full of songs that had at least something special about them.

Well the next song is the highest SD song and answers a question in the pre-reveal questionnaire! There are two #40s remaining from Sambalada and Daryl the Beryl . Who will finally lose one in this reveal?

Bloody hell. Unbelievable. Disappointing. I thought Pulse would like this song!!!! Like, how did people find 25+ songs better than this???
Not that I joined many RDs, as I started joining RD this year, but this is the best discovery that I made in RD.
