Any idea where Faith Hill is? She hasn’t put out an album since Fireflies in 2005. This question was brought up quite a few pages back, but while we have gotten The Rest of Our Life from her in the time since (albeit with Tim McGraw alongside her as that was primarily a duets album), I've given up on a new solo Faith album ever being released. I can't describe to you how ecstatic I would be if she did finally drag herself out of retirement, but I just no longer see it happening. She's gone the Patty Loveless route, I'm afraid--Patty's last album was released in 2009, and it's been crickets from her ever since, outside of sporadic appearances in the background and her appearance on Carly Pearce's latest record. Faith seems like she's long since done the same, and it's quite unfortunate. </3 Post-Fireflies Faith Hill has been absolutely baffling to me. I remember so vividly being 17 years old and rushing out the morning Fireflies came out to buy the CD, and I can't believe we haven't had a solo studio album from her since (not counting of course The Hits and the Christmas album). I remember her greatest hits CD seeming so half-hearted and such a letdown. The Christmas album was ok, but by that point I desperately wanted another studio album. I recall reading where, around 2011, she had recorded enough music for two albums and it was supposedly among the best songs she had recorded in her career, so I was ecstatic when a new single was released. We even had an album title (Illusion) back then, though no release date, and when both Come Home and American Heart failed to make the top 20, it all just...disappeared, and we heard absolutely nothing for years...again. By the time the duets album with Tim came out, I went from being huge fan to just a frustrated fan after years and years of being teased with new music, just to get a disappointing single thrown out there with nothing else. I admire that she spent all that time focusing on her family and all, but I still find it so baffling how she went from being one of the genre's biggest stars that consistently put out fantastic music, to all but disappearing for years and years with only a few extremely disappointing singles every now and then. All that being said, I would be thrilled to see a new album from Faith, but I've long given up on that and figure Fireflies will go down as her last regular studio album, which is extremely sad to me.

To put it in perspective, Carrie Underwood has had her entire career since Faith Hill released her last album. That’s crazy to wrap your mind around.

To put it in perspective, Carrie Underwood has had her entire career since Faith Hill released her last album. That’s crazy to wrap your mind around. To put that perspective into more crystal-clear focus... Adele has had an entire career in the time since Faith Hill released her last solo album. And Adele is known her her huge hiatus. Shania Twain continued and returned from hiatus in the time since Faith Hill released Fireflies. It's baffling.

I just imagine she has just moved on from wanting to make her own solo music, which I can respect, and am honestly not bothered by. Same thing with say a Kellie Pickler.

I've always wondered if she just decided to put her career mostly on hold to raise the kids.

I get not wanting to go super hard at it when having kids, but she could’ve given her fans at least something.
She never wrote her music anyway so she could’ve just collected some songs through the years and put out something every 5ish years and just not tour it. That’s really hands off and would’ve still given her a lot of time to be with her family, while still not abandoning her fans.

She was in no way obligated to keep making music.

Yeah, Faith Hill and really no artist is under any obligation to make any music if they don't want to and fans of that artist should respect that decision

I mean ya she’s not obligated, but it’s a slap in your fan’s face to just drop like she did; given they’re the reason she’s as big as she is. She didn’t have to continue at that level, but she could’ve done something over the past however many years to not completely abandon her fans. Heck or at the bare minimum give your fans a reason. I say all this just being a causal fan of hers. I couldn’t imagine if someone I stan like Carrie just dropped off. Heck if her fans didn’t help get her as big as she is her and Tim might have never crossed paths.

She’s not obligated to keep making her music but damn, she could’ve given a reason. When Shania went on her incredibly long hiatus, we wound up knowing why. I imagine it would’ve been nice for Faith’s long time fans to just be given a simple explanation that doesn’t even have to go into detail, rather than to have them continue to wait and continue to be disappointed year after year.

It's not like Faith Hill made any kind of official announcement that she was giving up music. She teased new albums for years after her Hits/Xmas records in the late 2000s, only for nothing to materialize and her to just disappear. She finally resurfaced to do a duets project with Tim, did a full-fledged joint tour with him, and it was even announced that her + Tim were both signed to Sony for intended solo projects... and yet still crickets. While she doesn't have to make music, it's all very strange and frustrating from the fan's perspective and the concerns and questions about what happened to her are valid.

But isn't the opposing view in this case just as valid? Like I feel like saying Faith Hill is not under any obligation to tell fans is being viewed here as a wrong or invalid view here. I have always had the belief that fans of any form of entertainment aren't owed anything from the singer, actor, creator, etc. Fans have every right to be pissed, but I don't think fans should feel like they are owed anything. I just feel like there's a disconnect and the opposing viewpoint is looked factually wrong, and that's the last I am gonna say on this subject.

You have got to stop viewing opinions that differ from yours as personal attacks. Literally none of us have said any view is invalid. And none of us are trying to say Faith owes us anything. We simply WANT that thing. There’s a marked difference between wanting something and thinking you’re owed something.

I have had all these same thoughts for years about Faith not releasing an album/not telling us what's going on. I'm glad others are finally talking about it because at some point I thought I was the only one who noticed lol. Also, where the hell is Kellie Picker! Also, I miss SHeDAISY. The 2000s era of country (particularly women) remains among my favorite.

I agree with Faith Hill's Greatest Hits CD -- it was a major let down. There were only 11 "hits" on it, as well as Red Umbrella, Lost, Stronger and I Need You. They could've easily released a double disc collection from Faith Hill between 1993 and 2007. I really enjoyed The Rest of Our Life.. Hopefully, we'll see something before the 20 year mark between albums comes up!

I agree that Faith is under absolutely no obligation to release new music. However, what annoys me is that we were teased with new music for years, just for her to disappear again. Back in 2011 (can't believe it's been ten years!) when Come Home was released, she was being set up for a big comeback with a new album right around the corner. When that single underperformed, they threw out American Heart months later, and when that also underperformed, all talks of the new album just went away and that was that. I don't remember the details and I could be wrong here, but I could have sworn that around the time The Rest of Our Life was released, there was an article about how Faith signed a contract with the label to release so many solo albums, and now that's been four years ago and still nothing in sight. It's just frustrating as a huge fan to have her all but disappear. I often wonder if we would have gotten that new album if Come Home had become a top ten hit ten years ago. I don't know the ins and outs of the business, but it seems like a huge waste of time and money to record all of those songs that she supposedly recorded, just to scrap the album because the lead single didn't become a huge hits on the chart. Again, I admire her for focusing on her family all these years, but it would have been nice for the fans to at least get something other than teases of new music that lead to mediocre singles and nothing else for years.

Something I’ve also wondered is maybe Faith wanted to go out on a high note. The women that was in her class of country (Martina, Sara Evans, etc) all started getting phased out and would still release music but wouldn’t do like their earlier stuff did. Maybe she wanted to end off on the high of Fireflies.

The least she could have done was announce she was "retiring" (if you want to look at it that way). It's the being told new music was on the way only for it to never come that doesn't feel right. She doesn't owe us anything however it wouldn't have taken much to let fans at least know what was going on. The silence just makes it feel so much worse.

Are you guys counting the album with Tim as a release? That was a good album. That was in 2017.

This album will be released everywhere on January 28th, 2022. You Pissed Me All the Way Off (Jim "Moose" Brown & Travis Meadows) is the new track 10 of the album, with the whole album having 13 tracks now. I wonder if all of the songs will be on it then? Or if Wal-Mart gets them only/ I want to wait now because I'm sure Amazon will have it for close to half of what Wal-Mart is trying to get for it, $17.98. I thought it was going to be a Walmart exclusive album? Also it’s only $9.97 at Walmart
