This song was reminding me of another song and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't place it, and today it came to me: "Feel That Fire" by Dierks.

Thereās absolutely nothing groundbreaking in this song. Itās a fluffy relationship song. No āpoor opticsā either. I really wish people wouldnāt create ācontroversyā where there isnāt any. The melody and production make this work for me, even if itās ā louderā than a typical Blake song. I don't think they are creating controversy as the controversy regardless of what people think about is there as music is always up to the listener to interpret.

I love the song, just heard it. I don't find it offensive at all and I don't make that much money, I'm in Education. I hope he gets another No.1 hit, the production is great.

Now, I admit, I didn't see anything on Twitter but there was no controversy here. People thought it might not be the best time to release this song was all. .indulgecountry brought up a good point about Sara Evan's, "Coalmine." Or people thinking a ballad shouldn't be released during the summer. Or the literally COUNTLESS debates that happen here on why one song would do so much better than another. The only "ānothing burger," is people acting like this song created a huge controversy.

The songs fine but Blake surely didnāt meet Gwen Stefani at a dive bar playing for pennies where no one knew his name š
(Fun fact: Blake did actually play at my local tavern in 2005 after rain canceled his nearby ohio show)

I just gave this song a listen and I'm not really understanding why it's so controversial other than it being judged by the title alone (before anyone heard it to boot). I dunno but I think it's catchy and has somewhat of a refreshing production.

I think they just think it's not the best time to release this song. :)

I donāt find this offensive at all, but thatās just me. The production is great on this and I love that lately Blake has been delivering different sounds.
I do find it kinda funny when established (rich) artists sing about being broke (it comes off more genuine on your debut record than your 10th, Blake) but the song is fine. Iām sure itāll be a big hit.

Trace Adkins says it best in "Songs About Me"; country music is so appealing to its fans because the songs are about real people living real lives. Songs are not powerful because of the artist's perspective, they are powerful because of the listener's perspective. Blake singing about being poor is no weirder than Carrie singing about being cheated on while she is happily married, or Martina singing about cancer despite not battling it herself, or George singing about all the women he pissed off all over Texas when he seems to actually be the definition of a gentleman in real life. The takes of "Minimum Wage" being a bit awkward in light of the current political situation in our country similar to how Sara Evans' "Coalmine" was after the West Virginia mining disaster make sense. But to say it's weird for Blake to sing about living on minimum wage just because he is rich completely misses the point of country music, lol.

Drove to town earlier and a song came on I didn't know- I was like okay, I'm loving this! Who is it? š¤ Then I started hearing him say Minimum Wage and I knew... š But I think this is going to be one of my Blake Shelton exceptions the way Rearview Town is a Jason Aldean exception.

I don't mind the verses but I can't stand the chorus. It's really grating and isn't that fun of a sing-along, imo. That "your love is money" repeated really irks me LOL.
This one's a pass for me.

Blakeās new album Body Language is coming out May 21. I posted the album cover and track listing in the upcoming albums thread. My question though is on the release week of his album Texoma Shore how many songs that werenāt actual singles debuted in the top 40 of country airplay?

5 Well 3 if you don't count "Turnin' me On" and "I Lived It" which were singles later on.

My question though is on the release week of his album Texoma Shore how many songs that werenāt actual singles debuted in the top 40 of country airplay? Warner did a deal with iheart to do hourly promo for a new song each day that week, so all 5 of those songs debuted in the top 40 that week. A couple of them later became singles.

I can count the number of Blake Shelton singles I thoroughly enjoy from the past 10 years on one hand, but goodness this is one of his worst in awhile. The verses actually arenāt bad but that chorus is the musical equivalence of nails on a chalkboard.
This likely will still end up a too 5 hit, but itās nice to see this hit the breaks as it hit the top 20. Iāve especially loved seeing this pass Mirandaās āSettling Downā, then her pass him back a week or two later and is now pulling further ahead each week. :kii:
After me loving Nobody But You and not hating Happy Anywhere, I hate heās broken his streak of decent singles. Two in a row is his most since the whole Bringing Back the Sunshine era in 2014/2015.

This is actually the first Blake song I've liked in a while. Couldn't stand the duets with Gwen. Anyway, I know I am dating myself, but does this song remind anyone of George Michael? I think it's his Freedom that it reminds me of for some reason.

The more I hear this, the less I like it. I think this might be the worst Blake single ever aside from "Hell Right", which managed to be somehow worse. I have no idea how an A-list act like Blake can come up with such mediocre material. Not interesting lyrically and not even catchy. Just bad. It's a shame, I really want to like Blake as I genuinely feel he's a cool guy. But his music is just not interesting.

Gods Country being one of the few exception to the decade-long snooze fest.

It is just me or is this kinda struggling? It feels like it has tapered off a lot at country radio in the past month and isn't really moving up like a new Blake Shelton single that had a splashy debut normally would. It's also been selling merely okay, but nothing particularly great, like his past few hits all have. Whether it eventually claws its way up the chart and his #1 in the end, I am definitely getting a fairly low-impact vibe from this single right now with all those factors.
