"Easy on Me" logs a sixth week atop both the Global 200 & Global Excl. U.S. surveys.
Adele‘s “Easy on Me” remains the biggest song in the world, as it tallies a sixth week at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Dec. 11).
Meanwhile, three songs surge to the top 10 on both surveys, including two holiday classics: Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Wham!‘s “Last Christmas.”
GAYLE also blasts to the top tier on both charts with her breakthrough hit, “abcdefu.”
Billboard‘s two global charts, which began in September 2020 and recently marked their first year, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
Carey’s ‘Christmas’ Jingles to No. 2 on Global 200
Adele’s “Easy on Me” adds a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. The ballad drew 87.2 million streams and sold 24,000 downloads (down 21% in each metric) worldwide in the Nov. 26-Dec. 2 tracking week.
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” dashes 17-2 on the Global 200, with 61.2 million streams (up 66%) and 10,900 sold (up 74%) globally. The 1994 modern holiday standard topped the chart for four weeks last holiday season.
The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” rebounds 4-3 on the Global 200, after a record 11 weeks at No. 1.
Dallas-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter GAYLE vaults 14-4 on the Global 200 with her breakout single “abcdefu” (53.1 million streams, up 47%; 15,400 sold, up 46%, worldwide). Contributing to the song’s success are multiple versions, including “angrier,” “chill” and “nicer” (i.e., no expletives) mixes; a demo; and a remix with Royal & the Serpent. The song has also gone viral on TikTok, having been featured in over 860,000 clips on the platform.
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” holds at its No. 5 high.
Elsewhere in the Global 200’s top 10, Wham!’s 1984 chestnut “Last Christmas” flies 32-8 (44.5 million streams; 5,500 sold, up 80% in each measurement). It rose to No. 2 in the 2020 holiday season. Adele Still Leads Global Excl. U.S, ‘abcdefu’ Up to No. 4 Adele’s “Easy on Me” likewise logs a sixth week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 65.4 million streams (down 14%) and 12,100 sold (down 23%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Nov. 26-Dec. 2 tracking week. The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” holds at No. 2, after nine weeks atop the Global Excl. U.S. chart, and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” repeats at its No. 3 high. GAYLE’s “abcdefu” charges 13-4 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart (38.7 million streams, up 49%; 4,800 sold, up 98%, outside the U.S.) and Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” holds at No. 5, after hitting No. 3. Plus, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” leaps 27-7 on the Global Excl. U.S. list (37 million streams, up 83%; 5,000 sold, up 110%) and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” soars 45-10 (29.8 million streams, up 98%; 3,000 sold, up 112%). The former led for a week and the latter hit No. 2 last holiday season. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Dec. 11) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 7). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. why am I even doing these in December... Okay well, I might as well not slip up on the schedule if I don't have to! Christmas freeze has come into full effect, folks, and unfortunately every Christmas song is American so there's not even any exciting races between countries there. Obviously, no new peaks of any kind. This week will just have the December 11th specific movements, which actually does have some news! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- After the crown for top Japanese song being has been held by Twice, a mostly Korean band, for a couple of months, there's a true blue Japan rep back on top! Hikaru Utada almost made top twenty on the Excl. US chart with her new single, but either way she's unequivocally got the biggest Japanese song of the week. Fun fact, the peak on the main Global 200 chart for Japan currently is #8 with LiSA. However, two other songs outpeaked that with Japanese lyrics! They're "Film Out" at #5 and "Yonaguni" at #3 by Korean BTS and Puerto Rican Bad Bunny respectively, though, so they don't count for my chart here. - This is the first week of the Global 200 where Cuba makes no appearance whatsoever. Blame Camila Cabello for that one. Actually, mostly blame "Señorita" for that one. - Just on the Excl. US chart, the remix of "Mon Amour" with Zzoilo and Aitana has knocked out Rosalía for the top Spanish song. "Mon Amour" has been going viraler and viraler in the Latino spheres, so I predict this will represent Spain for a long time in 2022. - I'm sure some of you will find this hilarious: on the Excl. US chart, Gayle with "ABCDEFU" is the biggest American song. Who'd a thunk? - India is back on the Excl. US chart and it's another movie soundtrack. Quite surprising indeed. - Did you know that there's zero Irish, American, or Irish-American involvement on "Fairytale of New York"? I learned that making this week's chart and I wonder if that's appropriation. Oh well anything to kick the English in the shins right?

Carey's carol returns for a fifth frame at No. 1 on the Global 200, while Adele's ballad adds a seventh week atop Global Excl. U.S.
Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reclaims the crown on the Billboard Global 200 (dated Dec. 18), following four weeks atop the tally last holiday season, while Adele‘s “Easy on Me” scores a seventh week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.
Plus, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” jumps from No. 13 to No. 6 and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” bounds 14-8 on the Global 200, while Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s new collaboration “Merry Christmas” dashes in at No. 10 on Global Excl. U.S.
Billboard‘s two global charts, which began in September 2020 and recently marked their first year, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. Carey Jingles Back to No. 1 on Global 200
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” ascends 2-1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 76.3 million streams (up 25%) and 14,000 sold (up 28%) worldwide in the Dec. 3-9 tracking week. The 1994 modern holiday standard topped the chart for four weeks last holiday season, beginning a year ago this week.
Adele’s “Easy on Me” dips to No. 2 on the Global 200, after six weeks at the summit; GAYLE’s breakout single “abcdefu” pushes 4-3 for a new high; Wham!’s 1984 classic “Last Christmas” climbs 8-4, after reaching No. 2 last holiday season; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slides 3-5, after a record 11 weeks at No. 1.
Two other Yuletide favorites return to the Global 200’s top 10: Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (from 1958), surging 13-6 (45 million streams, up 25%; 7,900 sold, up 9%), and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” (from 1957), galloping 14-8 (41.7 million streams, up 23%; 4,800 sold, up 60%). The songs reached Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, during the 2020 holiday season.
‘Easy’ Leads Global Excl. U.S., Ed & Elton Enter in Top 10
Adele’s “Easy on Me” logs a seventh week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 52.1 million streams (down 20%) and 9,300 sold (down 23%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Dec. 3-9 tracking week.
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” roars 7-2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, following its one-week command last holiday season; GAYLE’s “abcdefu” rises 4-3; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slips 2-4, after a record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the reign of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”); and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” descends to No. 5 from its No. 3 high.
Plus, Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” launches at No. 10 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 24.8 million streams and 30,400 sold outside the U.S. in its first week, following its Dec. 3 release. Sheeran earns his fourth top 10 on the ranking, while John notches his second. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Dec. 18) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 14). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. Khan's weekly updates on the Global 200 continue... I'll admit that once again there are no new peaks to speak of. I think this might be the first time ever that that happens two weeks in a row. The paradox of uninteresting numbers strikes again, eh? This week's news will just be about the December 18th specifics. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Let's start with Japan again! It was bound to happen eventually, but modern J-pop fans will have to despair as their music will not be recognized for the next month. This week's Japanese leader on the main chart is Yoko Ono. Her appearance as part of the Plastic Ono Band on John Lennon's Christmas staple "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" represents Japan among the holiday classics, and it'll probably stay very high on this chart until January. The Excl. US chart gets one extra week of peace before Ono's empire conquers all, though! The highest song on that chart is actually "Zankyosanka," the opening theme for Demon Slayer's second season. That probably makes Demon Slayer the most successful TV show on the Global 200 by far! - "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is the biggest song in the world, putting the USA on top once again. The order of Christmas music on the chart is similar to how it is on the Hot 100, but there's on major difference in "Last Christmas" which nearly ties Mariah Carey in worldwide popularity even though it's under a bunch of other recurring Christmas hits on the American chart. In the same vein, Michael Bublé charts FIVE whole songs this week, and he just keeps getting more popular every year. - France has some interesting news in the first ever non-English, Spanish, or Korean language album bomb! Don't let the Spanish title "Jefe" (the highest charting song) of the Portuguese-sounding Ninho fool you. He's a French rapper who garnered an impressive eight songs off of his recent album on the Excl. US chart in the midst of Christmas!

^Unfortunately, the weekly New Around the World has been Pro paywalled. It does mentioned that Ninho's eight songs managed 66.9 million streams outside the US compared to only 290k in the US, making his consumption more than 99.5% non-US.

Plus, Ariana Grande's "Santa Tell Me" dashes to the Global 200's top 10 and Imagine Dragons and JID's "Enemy" hits the Global Excl. U.S. top tier.
Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is the biggest song in the world, from the North Pole on down, as it tops both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated, fittingly, Dec. 25).
Plus, GAYLE‘s “abcdefu” ascends to No. 2 on both tallies; Ariana Grande‘s “Santa Tell Me” jingles from No. 16 to No. 9 on the Global 200; and Imagine Dragons and JID‘s “Enemy” rises 12-9 on Global Excl. U.S.
Carey’s ‘Christmas’ Leads Five Holiday Hits in Global 200 Top 10
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” holds atop the Billboard Global 200, with 81.2 million streams and 14,800 sold (up 6% in each metric) worldwide in the Dec. 10-16 tracking week. The 1994 modern holiday classic topped the chart for four weeks last holiday season and adds its second week at No. 1 this season for its sixth total frame upon the list’s highest bough.
GAYLE’s breakout single “abcdefu” pushes 3-2 for a new Global 200 high (up 8% to 67.4 million streams and 2% to 18,600 sold worldwide); Wham!’s “Last Christmas” climbs 4-3, after reaching No. 2 last holiday season; Adele’s “Easy on Me” dips 2-4, after six weeks at No. 1; and Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” dances from No. 6 to No. 5. Plus, Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” trots 8-6. The latter two songs reached Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, during the 2020 holiday season.
One more holiday hit ranks in the Global 200’s top 10, as Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” jumps 16-9 (40.8 million streams, up 10% worldwide). The carol, originally released in 2014, reached No. 5 last holiday season.
‘Christmas’ Jingles Back to No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S.
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returns to No. 1, from No. 2, on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, following its one-week reign last holiday season. It gained by 2% to 48.5 million streams and 5% to 7,300 sold in territories outside the U.S. in the Dec. 10-16 tracking week.
GAYLE’s “abcdefu” rises 3-2 for a new best on the Global Excl. U.S. chart; Adele’s “Easy on Me” drops to No. 3, after seven weeks on top; Wham!’s “Last Christmas” lifts 6-4, after hitting No. 2 last holiday season; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slips 4-5, following a record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the January-March rule of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”).
Plus, Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” reaches the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, climbing 12-9 with a 6% increase to 37.1 million streams outside the U.S. The song, each act’s first top 10 on the tally, is showcased at the beginning of each episode of Netflix’s animated series Arcane: League of Legends, which premiered Nov. 6, and received even more prominent placement in its fifth episode, which arrived Nov. 13. The track crowned Billboard‘s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, for November. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Dec. 25) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 21). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

Hahah what a shocker... There are no new peaks on this round of Khan's weekly updates on the Global 200, either. Honestly, at the very least we could start listening to some non-American or English Christmas music! Well, just like the rest of December, this set of news will only be the December 25th specifics. At least the chart is actually dated on Christmas Day, so that's exciting. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- It's becoming more exciting to see what is dropping on the chart, to be honest. Italy leaves the top fifty for the first time since Måneskin won ESC 2021. The Imanbek remix of "Roses" finally drops out of the chart entirely for the first time ever, along with Guyana and Kazakhstan. South Korea is almost out of the top forty for the first time maybe ever. That's all on the main chart. On the Excl. US chart, Christmas's impact is significantly smaller. Yes, there's a Christmas #1 there, but the overall quantity of Christmas songs is reduced there, meaning these fall-offs aren't as prevalent. - "Last Christmas" takes over for British leader this week, same with "Feliz Navidad" for Puerto Rican leader and (lol) Camila Cabello's rendition of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" for Cuban leader. This is all only on the main chart, for reasons stated above. - Why are the lineups for all of the NCT subunits so dang complicated, dude? Each and every song has different members on it so I gotta like browse the wiki to figure out who's from where. Anyway, NCT U's new single is a small Chinese comeback on the Excl. US chart because of member Xiaojun. - There's a new Indian song that leads for the country (from a movie soundtrack obviously) on the Excl. US chart by Remya Nambeesan, which is how her name is spelled all over the Internet. I swear Billboard is misspelling her name on their site as Ramya Nambessan, but that's also how her name is spelled on Spotify? The web is inconsistent with this.

Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” remains the biggest song in the world, as it continues at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 1).
Plus, Wham!’s “Last Christmas” ascends to No. 2 on both rankings and fellow holiday hits by Andy Williams, Michael Bublé, Elton John and Ed Sheeran, and Brenda Lee boast top 10 status.
Carey’s ‘Christmas’ Leads Seven Holiday Hits in Global 200 Top 10
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” holds atop the Billboard Global 200 with 105.3 million streams (up 30%) and 17,100 sold (up 16%) worldwide in the Dec. 17-23 tracking week. The 1994 anthem topped the chart for four weeks last holiday season and adds its third week at No. 1 this season.
The top four titles on the Global 200 are holiday songs, as Wham!’s “Last Christmas” rises from No. 3 to No. 2, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” pushes 5-3 and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” goes gliding 6-4. The three songs return to their respective highs first reached during the 2020 holiday season.
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, GAYLE’s breakout single “abcdefu” descends to No. 5 from its No. 2 high.
As for other Yuletide songs in the Global 200’s top 10, Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” climbs 9-6 (after it reached No. 5 last holiday season); Andy Williams’ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” lifts 11-8 (after it hit No. 7 a year ago); and Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” rises 14-9 (after peaking at No. 6 last holiday season).
Carey, Wham! Also Nos. 1 & 2 on Global Excl. U.S. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” likewise keeps atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, logging its second week at No. 1 this season following its one-week reign last holiday season. It surged by 32% to 64.1 million streams and 23% to 8,900 sold in territories outside the U.S. in the Dec. 17-23 tracking week. Wham!’s “Last Christmas” rises 4-2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, revisiting its best rank first reached a year ago; GAYLE’s “abcdefu” dips to No. 3 from its No. 2 high; Adele’s “Easy on Me” descends 3-4, after seven weeks at the summit; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” repeats at No. 5, following a record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the January-March reign of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”). Three other Christmas carols place in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10: Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” jumps 13-7 for a new high, after it debuted at its prior No. 10 peak two weeks earlier; Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” advances 14-8, also a new best (after it reached No. 9 a year ago); and Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” bounds 17-10 for its first week in the top tier (after it hit a previous No. 11 peak last holiday season). The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 1) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 29). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. Happy New Year! This round of Khan's weekly updates on the Global 200 is dated as the first day of 2022, and that's what I call time travel. Could this be the final week of the Christmas freeze? As usual, there's no new peaks to report, so I'll be going over some January 1st specific news. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Canada has now suffered under the same Christmas curse as the USA, England, and Japan. Instead of the massive smash hit "Stay" with Justin Bieber being the highest Canadian song, as it's been for like five months, the Michael Bublé version of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas" takes the cake this week. Only on the main chart, though, and certainly only this week. - Oh, and in the same vein, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" finally nabbed the spot for highest Japanese song of the week on the Excl. US chart, as it's been for a while on the main chart. - One more! On both charts, Welsh singer Shakin' Stevens gives Wales a new song to top their ranking for the week, with his perennial Christmas hit "Merry Christmas Everyone" climbing over that Coldplay song. - Somehow, in all this Christmas chaos, Colombia has a new chart leader in "Medallo" with Blessed, Indonesia's old chart leader returns on both charts in "Edamame" with Rich Brian, and Brazil gets back onto the main chart with a song featuring the late Marília Mendonça. - Boney M. is back on the Excl. US with their Christmas hit. Again. Boney M. has seriously been on the Global 200 for more weeks than I'm sure anyone expected this year!

Reflecting activity in the Dec. 24-30 tracking week, the song holds atop the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. tallies.
Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is again the biggest song in the world, as it holds at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts dated Jan. 8, reflecting activity in the Dec. 24-30 tracking week.
Plus, GAYLE’s “abcdefu” remains the top-charting non-holiday global hit, while José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad” and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” return to the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. top 10, respectively.
Billboard‘s two global charts (which in September marked their first year) rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.

Carey’s ‘Christmas’ Tops Global 200, ‘Feliz Navidad’ Hits Top 10
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” remains at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 with 97.8 million streams (down 7%) and 11,900 sold (down 30%) worldwide in the Dec. 24-30 tracking week. The 1994 anthem topped the chart for four weeks last holiday season and repeats with its fourth frame at No. 1 this season.
The next three titles on the Global 200 are all holiday songs, and all of which hold at their peak positions: Wham!’s “Last Christmas” (No. 2), Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (No. 3) and Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” (No. 4).
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, GAYLE’s breakout single “abcdefu,” the chart’s top nonseasonal song, keeps at No. 5, after reaching No. 2.
Plus, one Yuletide song returns to the Global 200’s top 10: José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad,” up 11-10, led by 46.9 million worldwide streams (up 1%). The classic, originally released in 1970, hit a No. 9 best last holiday season.
Carey No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S., Grande’s ‘Santa’ Dashes Back
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” likewise keeps atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, logging its third week at No. 1 this season, following its one-week rule last holiday season. It drew 66.4 million streams (up 4%) and sold 7,000 (down 22%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Dec. 24-30 tracking week.
Wham!’s “Last Christmas” holds at its No. 2 high on the Global Excl. U.S. chart; GAYLE’s “abcdefu,” the ranking’s top non-Yuletide tune, remains at No. 3, after reaching No. 2; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” rises 5-4, following a record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the January-March rule of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License”); and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” lifts 6-5, after hitting No. 3.
Elsewhere in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” jingles 11-9, powered by 33.5 million streams outside the U.S. (up 4%). A year ago, the 2014 carol rose to No. 7. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 8) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Jan. 5). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. Anyone know why the streaming difference between Global 200 and Global 200 excluding U.S. is different than the U.S. streams for the Hot 100? Do they convert streams or something?

Phew, okay, this should be the very last week of the Christmas freeze on the Global 200. Even though the tracking week had only three days of Christmas activity, festive songs dominate the chart. As usual, this means there's no new peaks to report, so this week of Khan's weekly updates on the global charts will be dominated by January 8th specific movements. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- My chart looks so ugly now :c The gigantic list of credits for "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the hot new film Encanto includes two Colombian actors and one Argentine actor. And because of its virality, the song is the current high point for those two countries on the main chart, and only on the main chart. It makes my chart not fit on the screen anymore though! If it sticks around too long, I might just leave it credited to "cast of Encanto" and treat that like how I treat bands. - "Feliz Navidad" has finally squeezed in a week of overtaking "Pepas" for Puerto Rican leader on both charts. - Just in time, Justin Bieber becomes the Canadian regent once more as Michael Bublé falls down from lack of Christmas. That's really about it... Christmas you were fun but it's time to go

The singer-songwriter's debut hit crowns the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. tallies.
GAYLE‘s debut hit “abcdefu” takes over as the biggest song in the world, bounding to No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 15). Plus, Imagine Dragons and JID‘s “Enemy” jumps 21-9 on the Global Excl. 200, reaching the top 10 for the first time.
‘abcdefu’ Spells No. 1 on Global 200
GAYLE’s “abcdefu” charges from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 with 58.8 million streams (up 2%) and 16,800 sold (down 2%) worldwide in the Dec. 31-Jan. 6 tracking week.
The track by the Dallas-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter has surged thanks to multiple versions, including “angrier,” “chill” and “nicer” (i.e., no expletives) mixes; a demo; a remix with Royal & the Serpent; and its “The Wild Mix,” released Dec. 31. The song has also gone viral on TikTok, having been featured in two million clips on the platform.
GAYLE further made her late-night TV debut Jan. 5 on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and on Jan. 6 announced headlining shows, set for Nashville, West Hollywood, Calif., and New York in March.
Meanwhile, “abcdefu” joins two other songs positioned as acts’ first properly promoted singles to have topped the Global 200: Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” launched at No. 1, beginning an eight-week reign, on the Jan. 23, 2021, chart, and Rosé’s “On the Ground” opened atop the March 27, 2021, tally; the latter arrived as Rosé’s solo start outside BLACKPINK on her two-track release “R – Single” (with “Gone”).
The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” advances 8-2 on the Global 200, after a record 11 weeks at No. 1; Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” rockets 12-3 for a new high; Adele’s “Easy on Me” ascends 7-4, after six weeks at the summit; and Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” soars 14-5, after reaching No. 3.
Elsewhere in the Global 200’s top 10, Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” reaches the region (21-9), led by its 3% gain to 45.8 million worldwide streams. The song, each act’s first top 10 on the chart, is showcased at the beginning of each episode of Netflix’s animated series Arcane: League of Legends, which premiered Nov. 6; the track topped Billboard‘s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, for November. GAYLE Also No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S. GAYLE’s “abcdefu” likewise hits No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, rising from No. 3, with 44.5 million streams and 6,300 sold (up 1% in each metric) in territories outside the U.S. in the Dec. 31-Jan. 6 tracking week. As on the Global 200, the song is the third debut or breakthrough No. 1 for an act on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” (nine weeks) and Rosé’s “On the Ground” (one). Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” rises 5-2 for a new Global Excl. U.S. high; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” lifts 4-3, following a record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the reign of “Drivers License”); Adele’s “Easy on Me” pushes 7-4, after seven weeks at the apex; and Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” climbs 11-5, after hitting No. 3. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 15) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Jan. 11). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

Unfortunately I think that it's highly likely that "abcdefu" will be spending multiple weeks at #1 on the both of these Global charts.

FINALLY! This episode on Khan's weekly update on the Global 200, every Christmas song gracefully departs from the charts, like dust in the wind. Other than Mariah Carey taking a 185-spot fall. Queen of breaking records! Now let's finally get into the juicy juicy new news for the new year, for real this time. I have so much news due to the shocking Christmas rebound that this might be my biggest post so far. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- I can once again report a new peak for a country, and it feels good. It's Belgium this time, where Lost Frequencies's "Where Are You Now" gains a few spots from its previous peak a couple months back on the main chart, and it enters Belgium into the top twenty for the first time ever on the Excl. US chart! #32 and #18, respectively. - Brazil also gets some good news. Because the country totally exploded in Spotify numbers this month for some reason, there's a new peak for Brazil on the Excl. US chart at #22, taken this time by Xamã, Gustah, and Neo Beats on "Malvadão 3", what I can only assume is some viral track. This breaks the very longstanding Brazilian peak on that chart held by Israel & Rodolffo ("Batom de Cereja" for those who forgot), and it's just a bit off from breaking through Anitta's peak on the main Global 200 chart (#47 compared to Anitta's #37). This is also the first time Marília Mendonça hasn't been Brazilian weekly leader since her passing. - Oh and the best news of the week, a whole brand spankin' new country has made an appearance on both charts! This time it's through rapper Jnr Choi, born in the Gambia (a small West African country), debuting at #95 on the main chart and a little lower on the other chart. He does it with his new viral TikTok hit "To the Moon" which has a very strange cover art choice and samples a cover of "Talking to the Moon" by Bruno Mars. Sounds familiar, right? The nation of Lebanon also broke onto both global charts for the first and only time through "WFM" by Realestk, another viral hit that samples the original "Talking to the Moon". What are the chances, right? - "Edamame" is still somewhat viral, and the Christmas rebound allows it, Rich Brian, and all of Indonesia to find a new peak at #165 on the main chart, about ten spots higher than its older one. Not the case on the Excl. US chart, by the way. - Refreshing to finally have to relegate the January 15th specific news to its own small section again. First of all, I'll just say that Guyana, Kazakhstan, Panama, Germany, Norway, India, and Austria all return to the charts after being shoved off by the American-dominated Christmas flood, all with the songs that they were previously charting with (like "Thunder" for Austria and "Bijlee Bijlee" for India). The Philippines also return through a sudden debut of "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas (apl.de.ap is Filipino) which I guess is New Years related? China comes back onto the Excl. US chart cuz of "Wa Da Da" by new girl group Kep1er, who have a Chinese member in Shen Xiaoting. On that K-pop note, what's with Got the Beat debuting so low? Aren't they like a huge supergroup? King Gnu has kicked off Yoko Ono for Japanese leader of the week because lol Christmas. After being held off by Adele for months and months, "Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) is finally the biggest British song in the world. "We Don't Talk About Bruno" of course becomes Colombian leader on the Excl. US chart. And finally, I should address the new #1, another notch in the belt of the United States!

Plus, "We Don't Talk About Bruno," from "Encanto," hits the top 10 of the Global 200.
GAYLE‘s debut hit “abcdefu” remains the biggest song in the world, as it spends a second week at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 22).
Plus, The Weeknd‘s “Sacrifice” launches in the top 10 of both global tallies and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” from Disney’s Encanto, ascends to the Global 200’s top 10.
‘abcdefu’ Spells Success Again on Global 200
GAYLE’s “abcdefu” logs a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 58.9 million streams (essentially even week-over-week) and 17,400 sold (down 2%) worldwide in the Jan. 7-13 tracking week. It also takes over atop the Official UK Singles chart.
The Weeknd’s “Sacrifice” soars onto the Global 200 at No. 2 with 53.5 million streams and 6,200 sold worldwide in its first week, following the Jan. 7 release of parent album Dawn FM. As previously reported, the set dials up a No. 2 debut on the U.S.-based Billboard 200.
With the song’s bow, the Canadian superstar adds his seventh Global 200 top 10, tying Justin Bieber for the third-best total. Drake leads with 13 top 10s on the tally, while BTS has banked eight. Also in the Global 200’s top 10, lead Dawn FM single “Take My Breath” rebounds 93-10, up 233% to 37 million streams and 289% to 6,200 sold globally. The song debuted at its No. 5 high on the chart in August. Adele’s “Easy on Me” rises 4-3 on the Global 200, after six weeks at the summit; Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” dips from its No. 3 high to No. 4; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slides 2-5, after a record 11 weeks at No. 1. Additionally in the Global 200’s top 10, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” by Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo (both from Colombia), Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto Cast, jumps 11-6 with 50.4 million streams (up 12%) and 11,500 sold (up 16%) worldwide. The song is from the Encanto soundtrack, which ranks at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, a week after the set crowned the survey, becoming the first soundtrack to reign since December 2019 and only the sixth animated film soundtrack to lead since the chart began in March 1956. GAYLE Continues Atop Global Excl. U.S. GAYLE’s “abcdefu” likewise tops the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a second week, with 44.8 million streams (up 1%) and 7,200 sold (up 15%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Jan. 7-13 tracking week. The rest of the Global Excl. U.S. chart’s top five likewise holds in place: Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix),” at its No. 2 best; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay,” at No. 3, following its record-tying nine weeks on top (matching the domination of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” in 2021); Adele’s “Easy on Me,” at No. 4, after seven weeks on top; and Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers,” at No. 5, after reaching No. 3. Plus, The Weeknd’s “Sacrifice” makes a No. 6 Global Excl. U.S. debut, with 34.5 million streams and 2,600 sold outside the U.S. The Weeknd claims his fifth Global Excl. U.S. top 10; only Justin Bieber and BTS (seven each) boast more. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Jan. 22) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Jan. 19). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service.
