Sudden influx of news for this week's update on the Global 200 from Khan! One of them is my fault. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Starting off with a mistake I made last week: "Una Noche en Medellín" by Cris MJ debuting at #115 on the Excl US last week was actually the debut of a new country! Cris MJ is Chilean, which I missed when I looked him up, and that was Chile's first appearance on either chart. That also means Chile gets a very sharp new peak on the Excl US this week at #65. Considering that big virality, Chile debuts on the main chart this week with Cris MJ, at #135. - Speaking of virality, we have a song that transcends that, actually making mainstream news in some Latin American countries. The latest in Argentine DJ Bizarrap's long-running "Bzrp Music Sessions" collab singles has gotten a high debut on both charts. Almost every entry in that series since the Global 200 started has charted, but this one is the most successful debut. This one features Residente, who made the thing into a near 10-minute long diss on J Balvin. It doesn't quite get a new peak on the main chart, but it exactly matches the #13 peak of another song from Argentina on the Excl US chart. Ironically, the song it ties with is "Qué Más Pues?" by J Balvin and María Becerra. - To no one's surprise, we get a new Cuban peak this week. Camila Cabello's new collab with Ed Sheeran "Bam Bam" gives us Cuba's first showing in the top ten of the main chart! It knocks out the peak "The Family Madrigal" held at #20 easily. The same happens on the Excl US, but it only debuts at #11 there. - More big news from one of the biggest countries on Earth: Indonesia gets a massive new all-time peak on the Excl US chart! Previously held by Rich Brian and "Edamame" at the lower half of the chart, the gold medal now belongs to Indonesian singer-songwriter Tulus. A song from his newest LP debuted way up at #88 on that secondary chart. - I should also mention the new #1, even if everyone expected it. "Heat Waves" has made its slow, slow rise to the top of the Excl US chart, giving the UK yet another chart-topper. I doubt that 60-week record will be broken anytime soon. - Alright onto the March 19th specifics. • "Malvadão 3" has started to fall off, so Anitta on the main chart and Pedro Sampaio on the Excl US have taken the biggest Brazilian song crown this week. • The Kid Laroi has the biggest Australian song again because "Stay" won't die. • King Gnu's "Chameleon" becomes the biggest Japanese song, which is the third different song they've held that title with this year, and it's only March. • There's like seven different Nigerian songs on these charts right now, including two debuts this week. CKay still holds the crown, but this nation is seriously rising in the music scene.

The first song to ever hit 1 MILLION daily streams in Indonesia's Spotify, and it had over 7 MILLION streams in a week! I'm so proud of Tulus, that guy is one of my favorite Indonesian singer. Also helped that his name meant "sincere" in Indonesian, because all of his songs are very sincere, and it always hits me in the heart.

The fact that he's currently the biggest pop star in Indonesia with Drake level album bomb while making mostly soft jazzy pop songs is pretty amazing tbh. Like, where else can that happen?

The song tops the Global 200 for a fourth week and the Global Excl. U.S. tally for a second week.
Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” remains the hottest song in the world, as it leads the Billboard Global 200 chart for a fourth week and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. ranking for a second frame.
The two charts (which began in September 2020) rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate, formerly MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
‘Heat Waves’ Atop Global 200 for Fourth Week Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” logs a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. The British quartet’s first leader on the list drew 56.8 million streams (up 2%) and sold 5,500 (down 8%) worldwide in the March 11-17 tracking week. Notably, “Heat Waves” ties for the longest Global 200 domination among groups so far, matching the four-week rule of BTS’ “Dynamite” in 2020-21. GAYLE’s “abcdefu” holds at No. 2 on the Global 200, after four weeks at No. 1; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” lifts 4-3, after an overall-record 11 weeks at No. 1; Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” slips to No. 4 from its No. 3 high; and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” repeats at No. 5, after reaching No. 3. ‘Heat Waves’ No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S. for Second Week Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” concurrently commands the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a second week, with 42.5 million streams (up 2%) and 2,300 sold (down 7%) in territories outside the U.S. in the March 11-17 tracking week. The ranks, and moves, in the Global Excl. U.S. chart’s top five mirror those of the Global 200, as, below “Heat Waves,” GAYLE’s “abcdefu” is stationary at No. 2 on Global Excl. U.S., following its record-tying nine-week reign; The Kid LAROI and Bieber’s “Stay” rises 4-3, after nine weeks at No. 1 (“abcdefu,” “Stay” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” share the mark for the most weeks spent at the summit); Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” retreats to No. 4 from its No. 3 best; and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” holds at No. 5, after reaching No. 2. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated March 26, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (March 22). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes an exhaustive and thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling weekly chart rankings. Luminate reviews and authenticates data, removing any suspicious or unverifiable activity using established criteria before final chart calculations are made and published. In partnership with Billboard, data deemed suspicious and unverifiable is disqualified prior to final calculations.

There's so much damn news on this week's update on the Global 200 from Khan so let's just get right to it! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The Global 200 is going to Brazil. Not a surprising new all-time peak but certainly surprising in just how high it is, Brazilian singer Anitta's new hit shoots up to #19 and #12 on the main and Excl US! Brazil's first appearance in either top twenty. She's accomplished this by not actually singing in Portuguese, as this song with Spanish lyrics has crossed well over into the Latin market. On the main chart, she takes the peak from herself on "Me Gusta" which was an earlier attempt at the same thing. On the Excl US, the peak is taken from "Malvadão 3" which still holds the peak on both charts for a song actually sung in Portuguese. - Remember that Indonesian song from last week? Well, now that it's had its full week of tracking, "Hati-Hati di Jalan" makes a respectable #123 debut on the main chart. Just as what happened last week on the Excl US, Indonesian crooner Tulus handily takes the championship from "Edamame" and Rich Brian. Obviously, this translates back to the Excl US chart, where Tulus gets Indonesia all the way up to #51. So so very close to top fifty for the island nation... - "Una Noche en Medellín" by Cris MJ is a wildfire of virality! For the third week in a row, it snags a new peak dozens of positions above its previous one. The Chilean singer climbs to #67/#35 on the main/Excl US, the first time they reach the top half/top quarter, bringing Chile to some staggering new highs. Funny for a song titled after a city not even in Chile. Considering South America has the fewest nations of any continent, we step ever closer to a whole continent being 100% represented on the charts. - There's even a lot of March 26th specific news! • The Taiwanese leader of the world title is snatched by some very familiar circumstances. After being held by Tzuyu of Twice ever since "The Feels" came out half a year ago, Shuhua from Taiwan of (G)I-dle now wears the crown. (G)I-dle's new single "Tomboy" has a nearly top-half debut on the Excl US chart, but only the Excl US, so Taiwan is still absent from the main chart. • Germany makes a double showing on the chart with two rock songs this week, "Zeit" and "Tom's Diner" debut very close, but it's ultimately Rammstein that holds the higher rank for now. • France doesn't seem to have anything current going on, giving room for Daft Punk to replace themselves as French leaders on both charts. ("Starboy" to "Get Lucky") • Because of some mega stability, "Desesperados" and "Zankyōsanka" are the biggest songs for Puerto Rico and Japan again.

I have fun making them so I'm glad people have fun reading them. South America is only missing Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana, and Suriname for full representation. Seems like a large amount, and it is, but it's tiny in comparison to what every other continent is missing. I think it's a milestone that might really be reached someday, even if it takes some years.

Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves’ Tops Billboard Global Charts, Anitta’s ‘Envolver’ Enters Top Five "Heat Waves" rules the Global 200 for a fifth week and the Global Excl. U.S. chart for a third week.
By Gary Trust 03/28/2022 Meredith Truax* Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” continues as the hottest song in the world, as it leads the Billboard Global 200 chart for a fourth week and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. list for a third frame. Meanwhile, Anitta‘s “Envolver” soars to the top five of both tallies, bounding from No. 19 to No. 5 on the Global 200 and 12-2 on Global Excl. U.S. S The two charts (which began in September 2020) rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate, formerly MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. The British quartet’s first leader on the list drew 56.7 million streams (essentially even week-over-week) and sold 5,100 (down 8%) worldwide in the March 18-24 tracking week. Notably, “Heat Waves” claims outright the longest Global 200 reign so far among groups, surpassing the four-week rule of BTS’ “Dynamite” in 2020-21. GAYLE’s “abcdefu” holds at No. 2 on the Global 200, after four weeks at No. 1; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” keeps at No. 3, after an overall-record 11 weeks at No. 1; and Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” is steady at No. 4, after reaching No. 3. “Envolver” by Anitta, from Brazil, blasts 19-5 on the Global 200, up 54% to 48.7 million streams and 35% to 1,400 sold worldwide. The reggaetón hit has surged on TikTok via a viral dance challenge in which fans imitate Anitta’s dance moves. “This is incredible,” she said of the song’s reception during an Instagram Live with Billboard Latin. “It’s nothing before seen in Brazil.” Anitta has charted one prior top 40 entry on the Global 200: “Mu Gusta” (No. 37, 2020). That track also marks the highest-charting of her three top 10s on the U.S.-based Hot Latin Songs survey, where it rose to No. 5. “Machika,” with J Balvin and Jeon, hit No. 10 in February 2018; “Envolver” reaches the region on the latest list, jumping 12-7. ‘Heat Waves’ No. 1, ‘Envolver’ No. 2 on Global Excl. U.S. Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” concurrently tops the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a third week, with 42.4 million streams (on par with its prior-week performance) and 2,100 sold (down 9%) in territories outside the U.S. in the March 18-24 tracking week. Anitta’s “Envolver” roars 12-2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, up 55% to 44.2 million streams and 38% to 600 sold outside the U.S. As on the Global 200, Anitta achieves her first Global Excl. U.S. top 10 with “Envolver”; likewise, “Me Gusta” marked her prior best on the latter list (No. 38, 2020). Rounding out the Global Excl. U.S. chart’s top five, GAYLE’s “abcdefu” slips 2-3, following its record-tying nine-week reign; The Kid LAROI and Bieber’s “Stay” drops 3-4, after nine weeks at No. 1 (“abcdefu,” “Stay” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” share the mark for the most weeks spent atop the tally); and Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” backtracks 4-5, after reaching No. 3. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 2, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (March 29). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. New update from Khan on the Global 200, and this week's theme is viral trends that were already happening keeping their momentum. For example... - Brazil utterly smashed some records last week. Not only did Anitta climb to new highs on Brazilian Spotifty, "Evolver" just had one of the biggest days for any song ever on that service. To the surprise of no one, this translates to a world-conquering rise to #5 on the main chart and #2 on the Excl US. After dropping off the charts entirely for the holiday season, these past few months have been hella impressive for Brazil! - Chile gets some solid new peaks on both charts due to Cris MJ just not slowing down one bit! "Una Noche en Medellín" rises to #39 on the main chart, a first appearance in the top fifty for the long country, and #27 on the Excl US. - I love Belgium's success over the past couple months because each new peak is a tiny little step, but they just keep rising without fail. This week, Lost Frequencies gifts his country new peaks on both global charts by one single spot, up to #22 on main and #13 on Excl US. - The April 2nd specifics also have a few trends continuing. • For the first time in forever, BTS doesn't have the biggest Korean song in the world. That goes to Stray Kids and their very successful new album this week. • Turkish rapper Uzi makes a respectable effort, but he just barely misses out on a new peak for his country by debuting three spots below Turkey's current peak on the Excl US. (And #107 on main chart.) • Rosalía, who holds the current Spanish all-time peak, dethrones longstanding champions Zzoilo and Aitana for biggest Spanish song this week through "Chicken Teriyaki" the top debut of this week's album bomb. • As I predicted last week, "Zeit" by Rammstein is gone and "Tom's Diner" by AnnenMayKantereit and Giant Rooks is now the biggest German song globally. • Even with a midweek release, Paulo Londra sits on the Argentine throne. Expect a big rise next time... • Taiwan is now led by Shuhua of (G)I-dle on both charts, as "Tomboy" rose enough to debut on the main chart. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharingEdit: Somehow, I missed that (G)I-dle has a Chinese and a Thai member, so addendum to this week's update: Lisa has been dethroned for biggest Thai song of the week for the first time ever by Minnie, and Yuqi has dethroned the fairly successful Wa Da Da for China. Same news on both charts for once!

Plus, Glass Animals' "Heat Waves" tops the Billboard Global 200 for a sixth week.
Anitta‘s “Envolver” ascends to No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. The song marks the first leader on the list by an artist from Brazil.
Meanwhile, Glass Animals‘ “Heat Waves” rules the Billboard Global 200 chart for a sixth week.
Plus, Paulo Londra, from Argentina, bounds to the top 10 of both tallies, as “Plan A” surges from No. 41 to No. 3 on Global Excl. U.S. and 89-9 on the Global 200.

‘Envolver’ No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S.
Anitta’s “Envolver” rises 2-1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, becoming her first leader on the survey, with 54.4 million streams (up 23%) and 1,000 sold (up 63%) in territories outside the U.S. in the March 25-31 tracking week.
The reggaetón hit has surged on TikTok via a viral dance challenge in which fans imitate Anitta’s dance moves. “This is incredible,” Anitta, born in Rio de Janeiro, marveled of the song’s reception during an Instagram Live with Billboard Latin. “It’s nothing before seen in Brazil.”
Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” drops to No. 2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after three weeks at No. 1.
Paulo Londra’s “Plan A” rockets 41-3 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, up 96% to 46.9 million streams outside the U.S. in the week ending March 31, the first full tracking frame following the song’s March 23 release. The single is the first entry on the chart for Londra, who is newly signed to Warner Music Latina.
“Plan A” concurrently soars 89-9 on the Global 200, with 48.6 million global streams (up 97%).
Rounding out the Global Excl. U.S. top five, GAYLE’s “abcdefu” slips 3-4 and The Kid LAROI and Bieber’s “Stay” descends 4-5, each after a record-tying nine weeks at No. 1. (Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” first logged nine weeks atop the list.)
‘Heat Waves’ Holds Atop Global 200 Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” adds a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. The British quartet’s first entry on the ranking drew 56.5 million streams (essentially even week-over-week) and sold 4,800 (down 4%) worldwide in the March 25-31 tracking week. The song extends its mark for the longest Global 200 rule among groups. Anitta’s “Envolver” jumps 5-2 on the Global 200; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” holds at No. 3, after an overall-record 11 weeks at No. 1; GAYLE’s “abcdefu” falls 2-4, after four weeks at No. 1; and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” rebounds 6-5, after reaching No. 2. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 9, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (April 5). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. On this episode of Khan's weekly Global 200 updates, Latin music continues to set records. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Brazil wins! At least when the USA isn't involved. Anitta had to sing in Spanish to do it, but the Brazilian artist sits on the throne atop the Excl US chart, giving Brazil its first ever #1 song here! The main Global 200 is not far off, and Brazil has now peaked at #2 there. There is essentially nowhere for Brazil to go from here, they can truly say they conquered the world this week. - Bitter Brazilian rival Argentina also has some huge news of its own on the very same frame. How typical. Now that its had its full week of tracking, "Plan A" by Paulo Londra rears back and smacks the top ten of both charts right in the jaw. The huge punk rock comeback single from Paulo Londra elevates Argentina to new highs of #8 on main and #3 on Excl US. The previous Argentine peak held simultaneously by María Becerra and Bizarrap never cracked the top ten on either chart, and this is coming just off the heels of Bizarrap tying that peak. Could it be the start of some Argentine wave in the music sphere? - Now onto smaller new peaks. For another Latin example, we have Chile. Cris MJ's song is finally starting to stabilize, but that doesn't stop new Chilean peaks of #34 on main and #22 on Excl US from happening. - One final new peak, only on the main Global 200 this time. "To the Moon" gets a second wind and knocks the Gambia up to #64, a few spots over its previous peak of virality. - April 9th specific neeeeews... • Sharing Trinidad and Tobago news always feels redundant because it's always just Nicki Minaj, but she replaces herself as leader for that island nation this week. Again. • "Mon Amour" is falling fast, so "La Fama" by Rosalía has stabilized as the biggest hit from Spain on both charts this week. • On Excl US, Stray Kids get dethroned for biggest Korean song by a Red Velvet single. It's the first time in a while that BTS isn't the biggest for Korea for two weeks in a row.

The song starts with the biggest worldwide streaming week of 2022.
Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” is the biggest song in the world, as it blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG launch at No. 3 on Global Excl. U.S. and No. 9 on the Global 200 with “Still Life,” the South Korean quartet’s first entry on each chart and its first release in four years.
Styles Starts Atop Global 200
Harry Styles’ “As It Was” opens atop the Billboard Global 200 with 122.1 million streams and 19,000 sold worldwide in the April 1-7 tracking week, following its March 31 release at 7 p.m. ET. It’s the first No. 1 on the survey for the British star and arrives with the greatest global streaming week of 2022. It claims the top total since Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” drew 131.3 million in its first frame (Nov. 27, 2021).
Styles is the first British solo male to debut at No. 1 on the Global 200. He’s the second to reign overall, after Ed Sheeran, whose “Bad Habits” rose to the top of the July 31, 2021, chart.
“As It Was” is the first single from Styles’ third album, Harry’s House, due May 20.
Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” drops to No. 2 after six weeks atop the Global 200, the longest command for a song by a group.
The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” holds at No. 3 on the Global 200, after an overall-record 11 weeks at No. 1; Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” rises 6-4, after reaching No. 3; and GAYLE’s “abcdefu” falls 4-5, after four weeks at No. 1.
Elsewhere, BIGBANG’s “Still Life” roars in at No. 9 on the Global 200 with 34 million streams and 29,700 sold worldwide following its April 4 release. The song is the South Korean quartet’s first release since “Flower Road,” which became the act’s fourth No. 1 on the U.S.-based World Digital Song Sales chart in March 2018. ‘As It Was’ Also No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S. Harry Styles’ “As It Was” concurrently starts as his first No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 79.2 million streams and 9,400 sold in territories outside the U.S. in the April 1-7 tracking week. Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” holds at No. 2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after three weeks at No. 1, and BIGBANG’s “Still Life” premieres at No. 3, with 32.2 million streams and 26,700 sold outside the U.S. Anitta’s “Envolver” falls to No. 4 on Global Excl. U.S., a week after it became her first leader on the survey, tumbling by 26% to 40.5 million streams and 32% to 700 sold outside the U.S. Rounding out the Global Excl. U.S. top five, The Kid LAROI and Bieber’s “Stay” is steady at No. 5, after a record-tying nine weeks at No. 1 beginning last August. (Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” logged nine weeks atop the list starting in January 2021 and GAYLE’s “abcdefu” dominated for nine weeks beginning this January.) The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 16, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (April 12). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. After several super busy weeks in a row, we finally slow down on news for the Global 200 this time. Which is funny because the exact opposite happened on the Hot 100. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- The big musical news of the world last week was the new Harry Styles single, and that translated to success on the global charts, of course. "As It Was" nabs the United Kingdom another #1 global hit, and it even knocks out fellow English act Glass Animals for the top spot on the main chart. Between those two and Adele, England has had an incredible 2022. - Only one new peak to speak of this week. "Una Noche en Medellín" by Cris MJ has finally peaked after a banner run up the charts over the past month. It actually falls a couple of spots on the main chart, but it moves up one on the Excl US chart, bringing Chile up to a small new high of #21 there. - At least the April 16th specifics are pretty cool. • Danny Ocean gets super unlucky this week. His new single rose to a single spot away from taking the all-time Venezuelan peak from Lele Pons on the main chart and three spots away from Evaluna Montaner on the Excl US chart. • On the Excl US chart, the new biggest song from Spain (climbing over a Rosalía song) is a huge posse cut of a bunch of Canary Islanders that's been rising up for a while. • The longstanding reign of "ABCDEFU" is finally subsiding, as "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons and JID becomes the biggest American song in the world this week for the first time. • Classic K-pop band Big Bang released a comeback single "Still Life" last week, so they handily take the title for biggest Korean song on Earth this week, with it launching into the top ten on both charts. With them, Red Velvet, Stray Kids, and even solo Jungkook intermittently taking the crown throughout the start of 2022, this year in general has had much more Korean variety after the BTS dominance of 2021.

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” remains the biggest song in the world, as it adds a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.
The song fends off Jack Harlow‘s “First Class,” which takes off at No. 2 on each list.
Meanwhile, Camila Cabello’s “Bam Bam,” featuring Ed Sheeran, returns to the top 10 of both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, rebounding to new No. 7 highs, and IVE blasts to the Global Excl. U.S. top 10 with “Love Dive” at No. 10.
‘Was’ Is No. 1 on Global 200 for Second Week
Harry Styles’ “As It Was” posts a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, a week after it launched at the summit, with 103.9 million streams (down 15%) and 13,700 sold (down 28%) worldwide in the April 8-14 tracking week. The song logs the second-greatest global streaming week of 2022, a week after it opened with 122.1 million worldwide streams April 1-7 (following its March 31 release at 7 p.m. ET).
The song by the British star is the first to surpass 100 million streams worldwide in each of its first two full weeks since Adele’s “Easy on Me” logged 178.4 million (reflected on the Global 200 dated Oct. 30, 2021) and 104.2 million (Nov. 6). “As It Was” is the first hit by a solo male to achieve the feat since the Global 200 began.
Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” released April 8, bounds onto the Global 200 at No. 2 with 89 million streams and 13,400 sold worldwide. The rapper ties his career-best rank on the chart, as his previous top 10, “Industry Baby,” with Lil Nas X, hit No. 2 in October 2021.
Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” drops 2-3 after six weeks atop the Global 200; The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” slips 3-4, after a record 11 weeks at the apex; and Imagine Dragons and JID’s “Enemy” descends 4-5.
Elsewhere, Camila Cabello’s “Bam Bam,” featuring Ed Sheeran, returns to the Global 200’s top 10, jumping 13-7 for a new best, after it debuted at its prior No. 10 high five weeks earlier. Cabello’s first top 10 dating to the chart’s inception posts gains of 22% to 33.9 million streams and 37% to 13,100 sold worldwide, as parent album Familia bows at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.
Styles Stays Atop Global Excl. U.S., Cabello, IVE Hit Top 10
Harry Styles’ “As It Was” concurrently tallies a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey, following its chart-topping start, with 72.5 million streams (down 8%) and 6,500 sold (down 30%) in territories outside the U.S. in the April 8-14 tracking week.
Jack Harlow’s “First Class” enters the Global Excl. U.S. chart at No. 2 with 35 million streams and 2,700 sold outside the U.S. As on the Global 200, Harlow matches his best placement, as his sole other top 10, “Industry Baby,” with Lil Nas X, reached No. 2 last October.
Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” dips 2-3 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after three weeks at No. 1; Anitta’s “Envolver” holds at No. 4, two weeks after it became her first leader on the list; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” keeps at No. 5, after a record-tying nine weeks at No. 1 beginning last August. (Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” logged nine weeks on top starting in January 2021 and GAYLE’s “abcdefu” dominated for nine weeks beginning this January.)
Camila Cabello’s “Bam Bam,” featuring Ed Sheeran, reaches the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, bounding 11-7 for a new high, after it debuted at its previous No. 11 peak. Cabello’s first top 10 since the survey started sports increases of 22% to 26.5 million streams and 10% to 6,800 sold outside the U.S.
Additionally in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, IVE’s “Love Dive” vaults from its No. 105 debut to No. 10, becoming the South Korean group’s first song to reach the upper tier. Released April 5, the single drew 28.9 million streams and sold 2,800 outside the U.S. in its first full tracking week. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 23, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (April 19). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. This week on the Global 200, new peaks all over the Latin world and some wacky week-specific news. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jSdctFcLyQl6HJYoi9Jr2OHFGkn-TBnxWVFNxMlzrto/edit?usp=sharing- Starting with Cuba, we have the effect of Camila Cabello releasing her new album. "Bam Bam" with Ed Sheeran was already smashing, so the album boost kicks the song up a notch to reach #7 on both global charts this week, which is Cuba's first time in the top ten of the Excl US. - Scratch what I said last week about "Una Noche en Medellín" finally peaking. It's a small gain, but it's still getting new peaks for Chile even this week. Cris MJ gives Chilean representation in the top twenty of the Excl US for the first time, at #19, and a respectable #29 on the main chart. - Venezuela finally has a true smash! The year old record held by "Se Te Nota" and Lele Pons on the main chart is topped by the newest single from Danny Ocean. What a heist. "Fuera del Mercado" not only climbs over that Venezuelan peak by just one spot, but it also barely surpasses the other peak on the Excl US chart, the much newer "Índigo" with Evaluna Montaner. I'm sure many of you are very happy to see that latter peak broken considering the other artist on it... - There's some crazy news specific to the April 23rd week, too. • Something that I think a lot us saw coming, the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia that's been dominating world news for two months has translated to an uptick in attention to Ukrainian music. In this case, "Hey, Hey, Rise Up!" is a collab with prog rock legends Pink Floyd, who came out of retirement to work with Andriy Khlyvnyuk, frontman for a Ukrainian pop rock band. Back in March, he went super viral on social media with his a capella cover of a Ukrainian folk song, and Pink Floyd took that and added their guitar work to back it. It barely misses taking the peak from Go_A on both charts. • K-pop continues to raise the success of other east Asian countries. This time it's Japan, who's been in a deep lull on the Global 200 recently. K-pop band Ive gets a huge top twenty smash on both charts this week. They have a Japanese member in Rei, which makes "Love Dive" by far the biggest song with a Japanese person on it in the world. • Jamaica randomly comes back onto the main chart because the "Cheap Thrills" remix with Sean Paul is still hovering around the #200 spot. • Rammstein have released another single, meaning "Zick Zack" takes the German take on the Excl US chart this week. That "Tom's Diner" cover still has it on the main chart, though. • C. Tangana is a Spanish rapper who's had many charting hits on the Global 200, but only now does he have the biggest song among his country, with "Demasiadas Mujeres" becoming the biggest Spanish song on the Excl US chart. • Probably should also mention that the biggest American song has become the highest debut "First Class" by Jack Harlow but who didn't see that coming?

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Tops Billboard Global Charts For Third Week The song boasts the three greatest global streaming weeks of 2022.
By Gary Trust
04/25/2022Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” remains the biggest song in the world, as it spends a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. Meanwhile, Camila Cabello’s “Bam Bam,” featuring Ed Sheeran, hits the top five of the Global Excl. U.S. survey. ‘It’ Is No. 1 on Global 200 for Third Week Harry Styles’ “As It Was” adds a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, two weeks after it soared in at the summit, with 103.1 million streams (down 1%) and 16,000 sold (up 16%) worldwide in the April 15-21 tracking week. The song boasts the three greatest global streaming weeks of 2022, after it opened with 122.1 million worldwide streams April 1-7 (following its March 31 release at 7 p.m. ET), and followed with 103.9 million April 8-14. The song by the British star is the first to surpass 100 million streams worldwide in each of its first three full weeks since BTS’ “Butter” logged a weekly-record 289.5 million (reflected on the Global 200 dated June 5, 2021), 170 million (June 12) and 120.9 million (June 19). Prior to “Butter” and “As It Was,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” drew over 100 million worldwide streams in each of its first three weeks (130.1 million, Jan. 23, 2021; 138.9 million, Jan. 30; and 110.5 million, Feb. 6); no song has yet extended such a streak to its first four frames. Excluding opening-week counts, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” has linked the longest run of weeks with at least 100 million global streams: nine, Aug. 21-Oct. 16, 2021. Jack Harlow’s “First Class” spends a second week on the Global 200, holding at No. 2 with 64.1 million streams (down 28%) and 9,500 sold (down 29%) worldwide. Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” keeps at No. 3, after six weeks on top; “Stay” remains at No. 4, after a record 11 weeks at No. 1; and Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” rebounds 6-5, after reaching No. 3. Styles Steady Atop Global Excl. U.S., Cabello Hits Top Five Harry Styles’ “As It Was” concurrently claims a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. tally, all from its start atop the chart, with 74.2 million streams (up 2%) and 7,700 sold (up 18%) in territories outside the U.S. in the April 15-21 tracking week. Jack Harlow’s “First Class” holds at No. 2 in its second week on Global Excl. U.S., with 30.6 million streams (down 13%) and 2,600 sold (down 5%) outside the U.S. Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” is stationary at No. 3, after three weeks at No. 1; and The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” rises 5-4, after a record-tying nine weeks on top beginning last August. (Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” dominated for nine weeks starting in January 2021 and GAYLE’s “abcdefu” equaled that command beginning this January.) Plus, Camila Cabello’s “Bam Bam,” featuring Ed Sheeran, reaches the Global 200’s top five, pushing 7-5. Cabello’s first top five hit dating to the chart’s inception, and Sheeran’s third, ascends with a gain of just under 1% to 26.6 million streams outside the outside the U.S. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 30, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (April 26). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard‘s subscription-based service. For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
