Post by Devil Marlena Nylund on Aug 5, 2021 21:15:51 GMT -5
1. What will be #1? I can't see it not being Not Ready To Make Nice
2. Which other songs will be in the top 5? The first four album tracks + Voice Inside My Head (aka the singles)
3. What will be #16? Maybe one of the bonus tracks or I Hope
4. Which other songs will be in the bottom 5? Maybe the two bonus tracks, I Hope, and probably a couple other songs from the album's final third.
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most: Voice Inside My Head maybe. Least: Not Ready To Make Nice
6. How will each one of the albums five singles perform? Will any of them miss the top 5? (Not Ready to Make Nice, Everybody Knows, Voice Inside My Head, Easy Silence, The Long Way Around) I think they'll make the top 5.
7. How will the two bonus tracks perform and will either one be able to escape the bottom 5? (Live Wire, Thin Line) Nah
8. What will be the highest-placing album tracks? Lubbock Or Leave It should be fairly high but there's a few other great album tracks that I wouldn't be mad if they passed it.

I agree with Devil Marlena Nylund except I hope Lullaby is the highest placing album track. That one is just beautiful.

1. What will be #1? Not Ready To Make Nice should run away with it!
2. Which other songs will be in the top 5? The Long Way Around, Voice Inside My Head, Everybody Knows.... and I want to manifest Lullaby being in the top five. 🧘♂️
3. What will be #16? I Hope it's I Hope 🙏
4. Which other songs will be in the bottom 5? The bonus tracks just from unfamiliarity, and I feel like Baby Hold On and So Hard are gonna get done dirty 😩
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most - I Like It? Least - The Long Way Around
6. How will each one of the albums five singles perform? Will any of them miss the top 5? (Not Ready to Make Nice, Everybody Knows, Voice Inside My Head, Easy Silence, The Long Way Around) Easy Silence feels like the odd man out and could miss top five, I really don't know public opinion on most of the album though
7. How will the two bonus tracks perform and will either one be able to escape the bottom 5? (Live Wire, Thin Line) Awe bless, I don't think they will
8. What will be the highest-placing album tracks? Lullaby 🧘♂️ Lullaby 🧘♂️ Lullaby 🧘♂️ Lullaby
9. Any other thoughts or predictions? Please no one do closeness rankings with this one as I don't think I'm going to do well 😂

1. What will be #1? - Not Ready to Make Nice
2. Which other songs will be in the top 5? - The Long Way Around, Easy Silence, Everybody Knows, uh, Bitter End??
3. What will be #16? - Live Wire or I Hope
4. Which other songs will be in the bottom 5? - Thin Line, I Like It, So Hard. Maybe Baby Hold On.
5. What song(s) will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? - Most: Lubbock or Leave It/Lullaby (for the exact opposite reasons), Least: Not Ready to Make Nice
6. How will each one of the albums five singles perform? Will any of them miss the top 5? (Not Ready to Make Nice, Everybody Knows, Voice Inside My Head, Easy Silence, The Long Way Around) - They'll do really well. I didn't know what the technical singles were before doing this (aside from Not Ready to Make Nice and The Long Way Around), but those all make sense as single choices. Voices in My Head feels the least like a single to me, but I think that's because of the album version length.
7. How will the two bonus tracks perform and will either one be able to escape the bottom 5? (Live Wire, Thin Line) - Neither will escape bottom 5, but I would be pleasantly surprised if Thin Line did.
8. What will be the highest-placing album tracks? - Bitter End was always a big standout to me, same with Favorite Year and Silent House. But I have no idea what the forum's perception of this album is aside from the posts above mine.
9. Any other thoughts or predictions? - I hope Thin Line at least makes it higher than the bottom three.

This love for "Lullaby" is making me nervous... that song bores me to absolute tears; I don't think I dislike any other song of theirs more than that one, lmao. 🤐

I wasn't able to get around to starting the reveals for this yesterday, but I want to go ahead and do some over the course of this afternoon so that we can get the first six songs out of the way. With that in mind, here are some stats to look over while I gear up to reveal the bottom 5 songs: - The bottom 2 songs are tied in points with the tie-breaker going to the one with a top 5 ranking
- There are a total of 15 rankings for last place between the songs in the bottom 3
- The third song to exit is only separated by five points from the bottom 2
- Only our bottom 3 songs were ever considered a last-place contender
- The last two songs to exit in the bottom 5 are only separated by one point

Stats for #16:
Both this and our next song are tied in points for last place with the tie-breaker going to the one that contains a top 5 ranking. This also just happened to be the most consistent contender to finish in last place as once it settled into that spot it never exited. Only two participants lose a top 8 while 14 others lose a bottom 4.
Best rankdown position: 10 Worst rankdown position: 16 Average: 12.59 SD Rank: 4th Lowest
Ranking distribution: Top 5s: 0 Top 8s: 2 Top 10s: 3 Top 12s: 8 Bottom 4s: 14

Leaving first is "I Like It" which only one or two of you had mentioned as being a possible bottom 5 contender. While this reached it's peak from the start of the rankdown thanks to an initial top 10 ranking from ClevelandRox, it was mostly downhill from there as it quickly moved down into the bottom 2 before rebounding only one more time thereafter. Once it found itself back down in the bottom 2 again it would remain there for the remainder of its run. It in fact was our most consistent contender for last place up until the final list actually moved this up on more spot, but as I mentioned above this was tied in points and the tie-breaker ended up going to our next song which as one lone top 5 ranking. Four participants get a perfect ranking out of the gate including myself, Kanenrá:ke, SHOOTER, and jamatthews83.

Stats for #15:
While our next song to exit in the bottom 2 is tied in points with "I Like It", this contains one lone top 5 ranking and while it was an early contender for last place it never a consistent one towards the end. In fact, it was in the middle of its run where started to pick up more support and even managed to escape the bottom 2 a couple of times.

Most of the group predicted that "Live Wire" would land somewhere down in the bottom 5 if not last place, so this probably doesn't come as much of a surprise to the anyone. This is also the first bonus track to exit from the album as it was initially made available as an iTunes pre-order. This of course was tied in points with our last place finisher, but a lone top 5 ranking from SHOOTER allowed this to move up one spot from last place. However, it does contain a few more last place rankings as seven of you put it down at the bottom of your list! The majority of the participants placed this somewhere within their top 15 with also a handful putting it in their top 12. And while this may have had a few more rankings for last place, it did pick up a bit more support up top as Kris Kringle. jamatthews83, bat1990, and fearlessarrow all put this in their top 10 as well as another near top 5 from recordyear. I can see why not everyone may like this, but if y'all have ever seen them live I think you'd recognize that this song is right in their wheelhouse. I too think that this likely suffered a bit more as sonically it sounds a bit more jarring and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the album.

I thought there'd be atleast a few I Like It lovers to make it a bit polarizing. 😂 Damn! I'd of never pegged it for actual last place.

Stats for #14:
Our next song joins the previous two of having the designation as being one of only three songs from the album to be considered a contender for last place during the course of its run. Four more participants will lose their last place while eight others lose a bottom 2. This did garner one top 5 ranking (and a top 3 at that!).

Natalie's voice sounds really good on "I Hope," but it's a pretty boring song.... not as boring as "Lullaby" tho.

"I Hope" was actually debuted well ahead of the albums release as they performed the song on the Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast telethon on September 9, 2005. It was later made available as a digital download single with proceeds to benefit the Hurricane Katrina relief. The song also features a guitar solo from John Mayer. It would go on to be nominated for both Best Country Song and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 48th Grammy Awards. While this was our initial song to be a last place contender, it managed to climb its way out of that and more or less maintained a position within the bottom 3 or 4. That's thanks in part to it picking up quite a bit of top 10 support as well as a top 3 ranking from ccarter1023 and a near top 5 from 🌺CountryLineDancer. Not everyone was feeling this though as 12 participants put this in their bottom 2 including a last place from ClevelandRox, recordyear, Devil Marlena Nylund, bboat11.

Here are the Top 13!
Baby Hold On Bitter End Easy Silence Everybody Knows Favorite Year Lubbock or Leave It Lullaby Not Ready to Make Nice Silent House So Hard The Long Way Around Thin Line Voice Inside My Head
I'm going to pause there for a bit and will come back around to get us into the top 10. Any guesses as to which two songs will round out our bottom 5?! And how much further will the last bonus track "Thin Line" make it?! Stay tuned!

I’m surprised I Like It came in last. It’s among my least favourites, and its placement on the album does it no favours.
One thing about this album is that, while there’s nothing on it that I dislike, I do feel that it drags on after the first third with only a few instances of it picking up again. When the album came out, I actually found it a tiring listen and couldn’t get through it all in one sitting. Not because it was bad or even boring, but just a lot at times. But to me, every song is still redeeming. But after a handful of folk/americana songs, by the time I Like It rolls around, I don’t really care anymore lmao.
I remember I Hope being out a year or so before the album and I think it even scrapped the country chart? I just never got into it all that much and it never felt a part of the album to me so it only makes sense for it to be out this early.

The next song is separated by only one point from the song that finished ahead of it. While no one put this in last place, it did accumulate a total of 12 bottom 4 rankings including two in the bottom 3. Only one participant loses a top 5.
