Songs About Jane: #6 (peak), 72k. It Won't Be Soon Before Long: #1, 430k. Hands All Over: #2, 142k. Overexposed: #2, 222k. V: #1, 164k. Red Pill Blues: #1, 122k SPS (94k SPS). Talk about a decline. They’ve had a good run though

Yeah, some critics are just stupid. That's the way it is, sadly. Thanks to technology, everyone with internet access and a decent camera or ability to host/create a blog thinks they're a top notch critic. And as long as they have the confidence and attitude down, suckers will head on their every word and repeat it ad nauseum despite no one in the chain really having much knowledge of whatever media they're critiquing. Sharing an opinion online is one thing, but acting like a professional critic when you actually believe a professional musician unintentionally fell off the best in a studio recording is another.

They’ve had a good run though I mean...the mega-hit lead single was so old that they had to put a remix on the record. Pandemic really screwed with this album's roll out more than anything. But, even without the pandemic, it's been nearly 20 years since SAJ. With no touring, no The Voice, no viral video concept like Sugar or Girls Like You...it's really hard. Not even sure they're sending "Lost" to radio.

Beautiful Mistakes Lost Echo Lovesick Remedy Convince Me Otherwise Nobody’s Love Memories
I didn’t expect to like this much of the album but they can still churn out solid, catchy pop records (no matter how basic). I need to revisit RBP.

The album tracks got 1.5 million listens on average on Spotify from Friday to Wednesday. So yeah, the album haven't really interested people at all.

I'm not one to come into an artist thread just to issue my negative thoughts but that's exactly what I have to do here. It's rare that I root for an artist to fail but I'm ecstatic that it looks like we've come to our senses and gotten over Maroon 5 and their shitty music. Should've happened 10 years ago but I'm hoping this complete disinterest from the public continues (unless the band decides to put invest the time and energy to produce something decently creative in the future, of course).

Imo, the low sales could be the fact that they are releasing this from the 222 label, with Interscope distribution(which obviously didn't do much). Also, sometimes taking a break too long is a bad thing lol, but I understand they went through some stuff that probably caused them to lay low.

They just had a top 10 hit a few days ago. 2 decades into their career. If that satisfies your thirst for "failure", then that's pathetic lol. They're so successful, that you have to settle for this. Adam himself in the launch party stream I linked on the last page said that we don't really live in a "album" society anymore, and that the world is more about "singles" now. And, he's right. Somehow I don't think he's that pressed about it, when Beautiful Mistakes was streaming well and in the top 10 on iTunes for a month. This band literally CAN'T FAIL anymore. They've already won. Doesn't matter whether their future releases do well or not...they're basically pet projects at this point. Gravy on top. They're the most successful, longest lasting band of the 2000s, probably only behind Coldplay? Arguably on par with Coldplay. And they still play huge stadiums and stuff. You're wasting your hate.

Meh. You didn't say anything I don't already know, yet I stand by what I said. Yeah yeah yeah, the "oh they've been so successful that they CAN'T FAIL ANYMORE NO MATTER WHAT" argument. Whatever. Maroon 5 is unfortunately and stupidly one of the most commercially consistent groups ever, they have a massive fanbase, they're radio and industry darlings. I acknowledge all this but STILL stand by my previous comment.

So that's why this album is being discounted on iTunes...$6.99 for deluxe on its opening week, pretty rare for an artist of their calibre.

There's an entire "Recent Releases under 7.99" promotion on iTunes currently, so it's not like it's just them. For example, Juice World's was released on the same date and it's on there, too.

This debuted at #19 in the UK - their GH is in top 40 too, but thankfully (for them) this didn't flopped so much that it would've charted below it.

Apparently:
Shoutouts to "Maroon 5 and their s**tty music"...as well as the "complete disinterest from the public". The same "public" that bought this album's singles SO HARD over the past 2 years that it got a gold certification almost immediately lol.
If the full album had actually released around the same time that Memories was going QUADRUPLE PLATINUM, it would have gone way higher than just gold...

Scoring a record number of #1s on Hot AC and giving Megan her 1st Hot AC #1 hit. Also getting gold certified.

Jordi is definitely a bit of a letdown for me as a longtime M5 fan. It is growing on me though. It's very bass heavy, and best listened to on a good stereo. I am coming around to the first 6-7 tracks of the album but it sags a bit after that for me. It's not offensive it's just...a bit generic and blah. The only thing I take offense to is that "remix" of Memories. They literally just copy-pasted a rap into the original and called it a day. They can keep that.

Congrats to M5 and Megan who has officially became a multi format Queen. Jordi is also growing on me.

"Sugar" jumps from 8x Platinum to 11x, giving them their 3rd Diamond single.

Naming the kid he's having with his wife after the person he is cheating with is bizarre and weird.

To me it's also bizarre he reached out to her after not talking for months or whatever to ask her; like, at that point why not just name the kid Sumner? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm also cracking up at the real Sumner referring to Maroon 5 as "elevator music"
