Renegade sounds like it could've come right off Evermore (which isn't surprising I suppose)
It's a killer melody. Love it

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone but was curious about which of Taylor’s songs are close to achieving 100K spins on Spotify. London Boy 99,316,483 Cornelia Street 99,304,546 Miss Americana 98,772,861 Mine 97,970,466 I Think He Knows 97,791,962 Seven 97,265,354 This Is Me Trying 95,858,692 Illicit Affairs 94,671,890 Dancing With... 92,574,914 All You Had To... 92,390,470 Enchanted 91,064,982 Death By 1K Cuts. 90,824,990 Afterglow 89,318,713 It’s so nice to see Lover do so well as a whole as I f**king love the album. Surely you must have meant 100 million spins, right? OK nobody said I was good at math! 😅😂

The melody in the chorus reminds me of "Willow" but I don't mind because I love "Willow." "Renegade" sounds accessible and quite lovely. I hope she gets a hit out of it.

I like it. I get strong "Long Story Short" vibes but thats OK. I don't think its a radio smash (at pop) so I would be surprised if it hits too big.

Do we think she pulled the 1989 release? I noticed the "Wildest Dreams" promo kinda stopped and we never heard the full version after Spirit released...

Renegade sounds like a mix of "Last Great American Dynasty" and "Long Story Short". It's fine but I don't see myself wanting to re-visit it or anything.

The album that never ends... I mean 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY' out now!

I wonder what this means? And what song does Deja Vu sound like in Tay’s discography? Olivia took inspiration for the bridge of the song from the bridge of Cruel Summer. Most specifically the melody of "he looks up grinning like a devil" line. There's other similarities as well.

I wonder what this means? And what song does Deja Vu sound like in Tay’s discography? the only song Swift, Clark and Antonoff worked on together is "Cruel Summer." what this means is that Taylor Swift/her label/her team threatened to sue Olivia Rodrigo for infringing on Taylor's intellectual property rights, and they reached an agreement privately without having to settle this in court.

There's other similarities as well. it’s a stretch, IMO… the first verse reminds me of “No Surprises” by Radiohead but I don’t think Thom Yorke needs a check for this song Even she did substantially borrow from “Cruel Summer,” does. St. Vincent really want a credit for “Deja Vu?” Can’t we give these artists their due compensation without muddying up their songwriting resumes?

Why wouldn't an artist want writing credit for a song? That's literally where the best royalty payouts are. Why wouldn't St. Vincent want credit? I don't get that logic.

I’m saying she should be able to paid as if she has credit without having to attach her name to work she wasn’t involved in But that's not how royalties work. If you want royalty payment for a song that samples your work, you need to be listed as a songwriter. Otherwise, you don't get paid everytime the song is used, purchased, streamed, synchronized, etc.

Was going through my old YouTube playlists from a couple of years ago and found this gem: youtu.be/KnDnphYTb0QI still don't get why people hated on it so much. To me it's absolutely lovely, so intimate and romantic. I would love for her to do an entire album in this bluegrass-y country vein.
