This was the first song I came across during my listen that I hadn't previously heard. When numbering my list I was surprised it ended up so low. *Insert this list is strong comment*

I finally caught the tail end of reveals and got a 2nd right. Finally clearing out some of those bottom dwellers. Like others have said, even songs At the bottom aren’t bad.

Extras from yesterday and today. Thank you for providing these by the way, I'd probably never find these any other way. Skafish - Made Up In The Dark 7/10: Really intense vibe here but played in a way that builds tension. Not sure if it had anything to do with the lyrics but this is a grower I think. NE1 - 1-2-3 9/10: I don't know if this song is just really compressed because of the quality of the youtube video but the poor quality doesn't take away what is a really sick Ska banger. I found the rest of the songs on Spotify so that's why I have them out of order. Wham! - Young Guns (Go For It!) 8/10: Wham! on alt?? I've seen weirder. This actually really sounds like it would fit in on this list. The rap verse was a pleasant surprise too. Fun upbeat pop song. Good stuff. T-Bone Burnett - The Sixties 5/10: This was kinda all over the place and a bit long for its own good. A nice guitar solo can save anything though and this had one. There is an interesting story told here too. I just don't love it as music.l sadly. Sparks - All You Ever Think About Is Sex 4/10: I feel like I'm being called out my this song. The low ranking isn't because of that, this just sounds cheap even for the 80s. Bad Manners - That'll Do Nicely 8/10: Another great ska song. This definitely leans more reggae though, and I'd have loved to rank this instead of putting Ub40 in last. Bow Wow Wow - Do You Wanna Hold Me? 8/10: If the hook was stronger this would be an easy 9. Great bass and guitar, more than I expected from the I Want Candy band. Comateens - Get Off My Case 6/10: Nice dance track. Not much else. I could see it being fun in the club Soft Cell - It's A Mug's Game 7/10: Another great dance track, this one just went on a bit long. Even Deep Purple slander couldn't tank this ranking lmao. Southside Johnny And The Asbury Jukes - Trash It Up 6/10: I liked this at first and it faded on me as it went on. It just feels like it never takes off sadly. Roman Holliday - Don't Try To Stop It 7/10: Decent little pop song, I feel like this could have been a big hit back then. I wonder why it wasn't?? Indoor Life - Blue Grey Green 7/10: A decent concept for a song, naming off colors and all that. I just liked it better when Portugal. The Man did it youtu.be/q5x_YoweEg8

my plead for the night. Can I please get amateur REM to show up tonight. I always thought that song was from the 90's anyway. 55. Let's Go To Bed - The CureFor me the most 80's sounding Cure song. I do wonder why it never cruised over to Casey Kasem's top 40 ,and became a big pop hit. It had all the ingredients for it. 54. (Keep Feeling) Fascination - The Human LeagueWhere are the popsters when you really need them. At least this is better than KROQ's rank of #100. Not my favorite from the band, but this one will fascinate me for years to come. Anyway, Am I allowed to say this RD has turned into Hot garbage? 53. Saved By Zero - The Fixx I guess they are falling in order here. I always loved the simplicity of this song, because the guitars strums fell in perfect harmony with the lyrics. 52. The Walk - The Cure The synths ,and "Living On Video"- like melody make this one of my favorite Cure songs ever. As was pointed it. It's missing a key ingredient. Female backups magic. C'mon admit it. You want it too. 51. The Safety Dance - Men Without HatsLove it. It's a perfect funbop for 8-10 year olds. Perfect for when I was a kid, but that feeling stays with you all your life. 50. White Lines (Don't Don't Do It) - Grandmaster & Melle MelNo big loss for me. I feel this one would reign with club goers. I didn't even care for Duran Duran's cover. idk? Maybe if George Michael had done the rapping? 49. Der Kommissar - After The FireAnother Casey Kasem cruise over out before it's time. This was a great song back in the day. I'm pretty sure Falco's original would have been tanked at the starting gate. 48. Power And The Passion - Midnight OilThis sounded so out of place on this RD. It was quirky, but weird. I never once heard it before this RD. Once again it sounded so out of place. The funniest aspect here is the perfect title suggests a Dave Rodgers Eurobeat driving them song. Too bad that's not what I got. 47. The Cutter - Echo & The BunnymenDecent song. never blew me away though. I wasn't into this band in the 80's at all. I got to hear most of their songs once I migrated to my home country. For some reason they are really popular down here. I must add What the hell was that video you posted about? Even more confusing than The Human League's shut out at #54. 46. Love Is A Stranger - EurythmicsI definitely prefer the synthpop side of this band. This one was ok. Not big on my charts. I'm glad the classic one is still in the game. 45. Nowhere Girl - B-MovieI figured you all would do something incredibly insane like this. This one is strictly for those who grew up with KROQ. I actually enjoy the radio edit a lot more, because it gets to the beefy parts of the song from the start. The star aspect could also be considered being the vocals. "jon" Movie had picture perfect New Wave tones. The guitars are also very Flock Of Seagulls in this one. 44. Add It Up - Violent FemmesI played with the other song a lot nicer, but this one was a real tune out. Completely X-rated compared to the much more playful "Strip". Truthfully I never heard these guys on KROQ until the 90's. It's like the D.J's got the most 90's sounding songs from the 80's ,and started giving them heavy rotation in the 90's to fit in with 90's music. I hated that gimmic. 8D 43. Numbers With Wings - The BongosThis wasn't completely terrible, but still a first ,and one time listen for me that didn't didn't exactly tickle my fancy. I'm guessing this band was popular among the college circuit, and not the teen agers? 42. Dear Prudence - Siouxsie and the BansheesI do like this band, and song, but sacrifices had to be made for Kajagoogoo and Adam Ant. 41. Oblivious - Aztec CameraI never liked this song. It felt kinda hoky to me. I didn't even know it was a PULSE favorite. If I'm in the mood for this sort of summer beach bop I would definitely turn to Wham for the wonderful "Club Tropicana"

EXTRAS: A couple of first time listens. Get Off My Case - ComateensThis is super cool. Not much going on in the lyrics dept., but it reminds me of Wham's Guitar works. I think that chart was called Billboard's Hot Disco 80 or something like that. It's A Mugs Game - Soft CellThis is a cool jam. It's on that E.P. with "Sex Dwarf". I hope we get to rank that one in 1982. Trash It Up - Southside Johnny & The Asbury JukesLove that melody. The vocals? Not so much, but just enough for a thumbs up. This is one of those vids MTV would play only after 10 P.M. I'd stay up for these videos. Don't Try To Stop It - Roman HollidayI remember this one. Fun stuff. It had that Motown vibes with a little Wham to spice it up. Loved it too. Got the 45' and everything. My favorite from them is "One Foot Back In Your Door" from '85. It sounded completely different from this bop. Blue Grey Green - Indoor LifeThis one I never heard. It was pretty decent for first time listen. The important part is that it sounded 80's. 1-2-3 - N-E-1I would have preferred the short lived Korean girl group.

If you(Or anyone else) needs any Billboard pro stuff looked up I'll gladly look it up for whoever asks. I think the price is dumb but I just pay it so I don't forget the refresh trick. Billboard are a bunch of snobs. I used to view those charts online all the time. All of the sudden they want me to pay. The way I see it is that we are the ones who made the songs as popular as they became. We are the ones that bought the albums , 45's and 12's ,so its actually us who compiled the charts. All they do is give the chart the format. If it wasn't for us there would be no charts. 8D

75. Fields of Fire (44): Great rediscovery (hadn’t heard this in 20+ years!). Love the rich instrumental, modern production, vocals, and melody. Love the other song a bit more... 74. The New World (54): pretty good discovery, too. It took me a few listens to fully get it, but that riff was unforgettable, the melody was strong, and I dug their vocals. Good representative of this segment of alternative music. 73. Rainy Season (55): Another good discovery that made me think of mid-80s Spanish rock stuff in terms of sound and even vocals. 72. Living on the Ceiling (87): I like the Indian instrumental, and the overall production -although it sounded like a cheaper, faker version of Talking heads. I didn’t get the vocals though, it made me think of a children’s movie cartoon character thus making me like the song less 71. Nobody’s Diary (89): I hadn’t heard this. I like several Yazoo songs, but this was too boring and the melody -especially the chorus- was too weak to rank it higher. 70. Long Hot Summer (100): Speaking of boring, this was the most boring and uneventful song I heard in this RD. Sad that my worst discovery went from this group. 69. She Blinded Me With Science (46): I remember loving that video and I’ve always considered this song fun and quirky and catchy and timeless. 68. Lovecats (20): huh? How’s this their first one to leave? This is purposefully ridiculous and fun. And it’s always worked for me. Even more with its video. The instrumental complements Robert’s feline vocals, and the melody is pretty solid too IMO. Still a fan of this one. 67. Is There Something I Should Know? (52): tough to rank some good songs like this, but to be fair this isn’t in my top 10 DD songs. 66. China Girl (22): Awww. Another song whose video was in high rotation throughout the decade. I really like this, even more than Iggy’s version. 65. Save It For Later (97): this was another clear bottom discovery to me. A rare case where I found the melody annoying, including the chorus and even worse the Nananas in the prechorus. Ugh! I didn’t rank it last because of its instrumental. 64. Stand or Fall (68): Not my option for their first song to leave. I like the production and main melody, but wish both were a bit stronger. 63. The Politics of Dancing (78): Sounds like the precursor to Everybody have fun tonight nice vibe and cool instrumental especially the hints of guitar, but didn’t find it that strong to escape my bottom quarter. 62. Too Shy (42): Another classic video and tune that I still like hearing once in a while. I love the instrumental. 61. Karma Chameleon (32): A classic. Regardless of how pop it may seem for this RD, the melody, instrumental, production, vocals work perfectly IMO. I can’t not listen to it without feeling good :) 60. Confusion (75): I love them, but their singles in this RD are not amongst my favorites. I heard this one first around 2000 when I bought the Substance CD and caught up with some of their discography. I like some parts of the production but at some parts it becomes a bit too messy and the melody too repetitive. This wasn’t my lowest ranked NO song though. 59. Red Skies (96): I’ve liked a lot of the songs I’ve discovered from them in these rock RDs, but this is a bit of an exemption. I didn’t find the melody memorable except for the main short chorus, which isn’t enough to make the song that interesting. And I found the production a bit too messy especially in the bridge. 58. Let Me Go (69): Actually, I first heard the T42 version in 1992, without knowing it was a cover, and I really liked it. Later I heard the original -and I still prefer the cover youtu.be/Pb63OePkpzc57. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (31): Cyndi was my favorite female act in 83-mid86. I loved all her SSO singles, starting with this one. A big hit in Peru, and unashamedly one of my favorite songs of the 80s. I didn’t rank it higher here because I deducted some points to songs that were a bit too pop for the list. 56. Union of the Snake (8): Huh? This isn’t pop though, this fits this list very well and it’s one of the best Duran Duran songs ever. Why is it missing the top 50? 55. Let’s Go to Bed (48): interesting that their songs are leaving in reverse order to my ranking... I like the unique sound and polished production here. 54. Fascination (45): Another strong song missing the top half. Several songs in my 40s could have been higher but I was splitting hairs about where to put them. This has a timeless melody, great vocals, strong new wave instrumental. I just liked other songs a bit better. 53. Saved by Zero (62): I love the sound of this song. It’s just not as strong melodically to me as the songs I ranked higher, but it’s a good tune (and I do appreciate that commercial!) 52. The Walk (65): I do like the strong electronic production, but I’ve always thought this could’ve worked better if the main synths weren’t so in your face... i also needed a bit stronger chorus. 51. Safety Dance (14): This was huge in Peru and it still receives good recurrent airplay. I’ve always been a fan of the instrumental, melody and overall dancey but cool production, and it often pops up in my head as a tune to sing along to. Sad to see my third top 20 loss :’(

When I saw that +10, I won't lie, I panicked a bit. Considering the potential options I was thinking of, a not top-tier Depeche Mode song going out early for DM is fine by me.
